i think that if one person walks in the rink and thinks to themslelves, "that number doesnt belong up there" then it shouldnt be hanging up there. Having your number retired is a badge of honor for a team that you are associated with when you are remembered down the road. #4 Red Kelly should be up there eventually (debatable) #5 Nick Lidstrom is arguably the second best defenseman ever (lock) #6 Larry Aurie dont know the whole story, cant comment #16 Vladdy should be honered, but not retired (debatable) #30 Chris Osgood Numbers are up there with best ever, but everyone remembers the bad times more than the good times (debatable) #91 Sergei Fedorov fantastic numbers with wings, on numbers alone yes, but the way he left, not showing respect to the team, doesnt deserve the team to show the utmost homor and respect to him , save 91 for the next cant miss prospect ( no) my humble opinion, please feel free to critique, nothing better than talking hockey

if you are in a market that is not near new york and new jersey, then versus should switch the game over to the detroit feed. Normally they show the game that consists of the teams that our closest to your market

Michigan State has already been knocked out of the NCAA tourney. So much for defending their title. Truthfully, I think this is a bad idea for Abdelkader, he should stay for his senior year and be captain of the team. Earn his leadershiip stripes that way. But who I am to tell someone to forgo money and a chance to play in the show. I played against him in high school and have never liked him after he wouldnt shake my hand after we beat him in the state finals. But that being said i really hope the best for the kid because it is great for USA hockey and for hockey in the state of michigan. Good Luck

did anyone else notice in the second period when ovechkin was skating through center ice with his head down for a split second. crosby was headed right for him and was in a prime spot for a vladdy/scott stevens type of hit. he got close to ovy and tryed to poke the puck away instead of run him over. that just proves how soft that little poser is . if it would have been the other way around ovy would have taken his head off. crosby missed an oppurtunity to make a statement and he is soft. he is a whiner and he will never be as good as people think because he isnt willing to use his body to influence a game. if he drops ovy, pittsburgh gets so fired up, that game would be over. i think he is soft and he doesnt deserve the credit everyone seems to love to through his way, i would take ovechkin over him any day, even if ovy isnt the best defensive forward.

i dont understand why hasek and osgood, who are playing horrible and are terribly inconsistent, are still getting the nod over jimmy howard. he played more than steady in his few outings this year, give the kid a chance, our other goalies are over the hill. osgood should be a goalie coach and hasek looks like he should have retired years ago this is pathetic!

I really can't see Campbell even wanting to re-sign in San Jose. They are such a physical grinding team, and he is definitly not that. I dont see him fitting in with that team, and SJ gave up too much to get him. Bernier is going to be a stud for the Sabres

im hoping this kid has a good game and can show us a little bit of his potential tonight, i dont expect him to step in and be the next bobby orr or nick lidstrom, but if we can get a guy who is big and uses his size well then i think i will get excited, but for right now he is still just a prospect, half of whom dont work out
