Yeah, it really was. On the replay, the shot wasn't all that hard and there was no traffic so he should have saw it. I have to imagine that it's hard to come into a game where you've been psychologically out of it for two periods though. I wonder if that factored into it.

HOSSA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice pass by Cleary to set up the snipe. 2-1 Wings

Awesome! Gotta love the professor.

For someone with the phrase "Quit your bitching, Wings fans" under your avatar, you sure do a lot of it. You've done your best Mindfly impression in this thread.

Dats with the nice hit on Moen.

GOAL!!! Franzen, I think. That'll shut up the haters for a minute.

Wow. I completely disagree with this post.

I would definately agree that Larsson is our primary goalie prospect at the moment, but should Ozzie or Conklin get hurt, I suspect that Howard will get the call up. Larsson is still pretty raw, extremely young, and this is his first season in North America. Howard has been around the NHL before and has played well up here. Not to mention, the whole "loyalty" factor that we associate with the Wings. Howard has "paid his dues," if you will. Just to add fuel to the fire, we have our first round draft pick Tom McCollum tearing up the OHL right now. Obviously, he couldn't be called up, but one could make the argument that Howard is the #3 goalie prospect in our system. Depends how you grade a prospect, I suppose. If potential to make an impact is your #1 quality, as it is with me, McCollum would be ahead of Howard; if you value proximity to the NHL, Howard would be ahead. Anyways, it's pretty nice to be able to say that a goalie like Howard is only our #3 goalie prospect. A very good problem.

Personally, I don't really see him as a Hall of Famer. To me, a Hall of Famer is a guy who dominated his sport and was considered one of the best at his respective position over an extended period of time. Osgood was a Vezina finalist, if I'm not mistaken, one time. However, one more Cup and I think you have to put him in. A goalie with four Cups, three as the starter, with 400+ wins and in the top ten all-time in wins would be extremely hard to keep out.

I absolutely love the throwback jerseys. The rest suck.
-
UGH. Conk playing crappy. That was a weak goal.
-
That's just frustrating. The Wings had dominated the period up to that point. Ugh.
-
Phaneuf hasn't been all that great either. He's at -6 right now. I'm thinking Lidstrom ends up winning it again after a strong second half, but Shea Weber, Dan Boyle, Rob Blake, and Mike Green can all make cases early on.

3-1 Wings Wings: Kronwall PP (Zetterberg, Samuelsson); Datsyuk (Hossa, Lidstrom); Zetterberg EN (Unassisted) Bruins: Wideman (Savard)
-
Only 763 more and he'll be tied with Stevie Y for most assists all-time in team history! Congratulations, Pasha. You've been an absolute pleasure to watch.

I don't think you should really worry about the legacies of Zetterberg and Datsyuk. Both will undoubtedly end their careers in the top ten in team scoring (Datsyuk is currently 15th, Zetterberg 22nd), will be the central figures on at least one Stanley Cup championship team, and one of the two (probably Zetterberg) will likely serve as captain for an extended period of time. Like you, I figure Datsyuk will finish his career with about 1,000 points which would place him 4th all-time in scoring behind Howe, Yzerman, and Delvecchio and ahead of Fedorov, Lidstrom, Lindsay, etc. Zetterberg will probably finish in the top 5 or 6 as well. That's saying a lot considering the rich tradition of the Wings and all the great players that have donned the Winged Wheel.

Crosby or Ovechkin. The list ends there for me. To be honest, I think Z and Pasha's abilities better suit this team, but at 21 and 23, those two are just too good at too young an age to really pass up. Guys like Semin, Lecavalier, and Malkin are intriguing as well. There are a couple young defensemen that I really like too, including Doughty and Phaneuf, but I wouldn't trade either of the Euro Twins for them. Though, I do think that Doughty is going to be an absolute stud in about 3 or 4 years.

If Kenny has the opportunity to draft this kid, there will be a lot of pissed off Red Wing fans in here. This kid is a top-two pick.

RIP I'll admit that when I first read the thread title that my first thought was that another young player had passed following in the wake of Cherepanov and Bourdon. I was pleased to see that wasn't the case, but it's still sad to see a pioneer of the game go.

I'm hoping everything goes according to plan and we're looking at a Larsson-McCollum goalie tandem in a couple of seasons.
-
I agree with this post.

Alright, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. If you like listening to a bunch of people ***** and moan about how the season is over, how we should cut this guy and this guy, how this is the worst 14-2-4 team on the planet, and don't want to do anything about, you do that. There is nothing in the world that is more annoying than that. As Red Wing fans, we have been given the opportunity to enjoy and root for one of the premier organizations in ALL OF PROFESSIONAL SPORTS. Too many posters take that for granted with all this incessant complaining about a game that means next to nothing in the grand scheme of things. People need to realize this, accept the fact that there are 82 games plus the playoffs in the season, and realize that bad losses are going to happen and cut out the retarded knee-jerk reactions that make you look dumb and immature. /rant over

QFT. Totally agree.

Uhh....really?
