The money or him staying with the Sens?

Worst in the league? Hyperbole much? C'mon...

Crosby is a good player. Once he becomes more mature and realizes that he needs to be a more complete player, he will be a great player.

On the contrary, I know there are many Wing fans who do love Mike Babcock. Myself included.
-
Every fanbase has a collection of people that don't know hockey as well. Just because you found a handful of people supporting your opinion doesn't mean the entirety of the Red Wings fanbase agrees with it. So, stop saying "you all" when talking about stuff like this. The majority of Red Wings can see the production being provided by Hossa despite the relative lack of goal scoring.
-
Every team has classless fans. That's the nature of the sport. I agree that anyone acting like their fanbase is completely free of douchebags, well, they're kidding themselves.
-
Right. How short-sighted of me. And you're in Sigma Chi at CMU? I'm in Sigma Tau Gamma, haha.
-
haha, beat me to it.

Here you go again with the whole scoring = production/stepping up debate. Is it maybe possible, just maybe, that there is more to the wonderful game of hockey than scoring goals? Like preventing the other team from scoring goals? That's a pretty important thing too, isn't it? Because, Hossa has done a fine job doing that if I don't say so myself.

If we're talking long term, he'd probably be fourth on my list of players I'd take behind Ovechkin, Getzlaf, and Malkin. Toews and Parise are in there as well, but I think I'd take Crosby over them. If we're talking about one year, do or die, he's way down the list behind players like Ovechkin, Malkin, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Lidstrom, Getzlaf, and a few others. He has a lot of developing to do which, to your credit, you are acknowledging.

I love the Euro Twins together; however, I think splitting them up for Game 6 might be the smart play. Two Selke-caliber forwards on different lines gives the Wings more of an opportunity to shadow the Penguins' two high-scoring forwards in Malkin and Crosby. Cleary - Zetterberg - Franzen Filppula - Datsyuk - Hossa Holmstrom - Helm - Hudler Maltby - Draper - Samuelsson That's what I'd run out there, I think.

I live in Detroit. Trust me, I know how some people feel about Marian. And your second point about me cheering Hossa out of spite for Pittsburgh fans, you're giving yourself and your fellow fanbase WAY too much credit. I couldn't care less about you guys. I care about the twenty guys on the ice playing the game and seeing them hoist that 35lb. silver trophy at the end of the season. Outside of Claude Lemieux and Chris Pronger, I would cheer any Red Wing hoisting Lord Stanley's hardware.

I'm not too sure. For some reason, I have a pretty good feeling about it. The Wings can taste the Cup now and I know we'll see a better effort than we saw in Game 4. I think it's going to come down to the third period. I do agree with some of my fellow posters who think that the extra day's rest will be a HUGE factor for Game 6. I like the Wings in a one goal game, but I'm also a little bit biased.
-
He's a Red Wing and he's never won the Cup before. So, uhhh, yeah, I'd be cheering him. And let's stop acting like he isn't doing anything or not producing. He has 15 points, good for fourth on the team, and his backchecking has been phenomenonal. You don't need to score in order to contribute to a winning team.

I don't think that he sucks, but I completely agree that he should start modeling his game after Yzerman. When Crosby isn't scoring, he is relatively useless. He needs to start sacrificing some points and focus on developing his play in his own zone. He has all the physical ability in the world and he obviously has the desire to win. I mean, guys like Zetterberg or Yzerman could be shut out of the scoresheet, but still have a significant impact on the game. He also needs to realize that he is the captain of an NHL team. Start acting like it. Two-handed slashes to player's knees out of frustration, jumping a guy off-guard at the faceoff circle, and continuous whining to the officials is not captain-like behavior. I'm not a Crosby hater at all. I think he's a really good player, but he needs to develop his two-way play and start acting like a captain and a leader before I'll consider him a great player.

Ugh, this is really tough. I'd love to see Ozzie win it, but I think I'm going to have to go with Hank. What he has done to Crosby, who had dominated through three rounds, has been nothing short of amazing. I understand that it's a playoff award, not a Finals award, but the Finals should play the largest role if you're a voter. He's playing shutdown defense, he's scoring, he's winning faceoffs, and he's not backing down. He steps it up in the biggest games of the year and he's showing the heart and desire to win that make me extremely happy that he is going to be the next captain of the Detroit Red Wings. So, Hank for Conn Smythe.

Any Chance Tavares Replaces Crosby as the New NHL Poster Boy?

Stamkos scored 23 goals as an 18-year old. That hardly spells 'bust' to me. -
The Blackhawks have a high-powered offense. Chris Chelios, whether you like it or not, is a liability on the ice. The Blackhawks have overcome three-goal leads against the Flames and Canucks. Babcock understandably didn't want to take any chances out there. Should he have played a little bit more? Maybe, but I understand what Babcock wanted to do. Also, I'd bet five bucks this thread isn't made if dumbass Jeremy Roenick doesn't make his comments about the Cheli-Babcock rift.
-
Are we seriously talking about this? It's such a non-issue. My response to all the Babcock - Chelios hate crap: he's wearing an A today. True, there's been a lot of injuries, but he's wearing an A nonetheless.

Weak. Goddamnit. 2-0
