i am really surprised at how many people are advocating multiple changes... i know you all want us to get tougher and grittier, but personally, i would rather only make 1 or possibly 2 roster changes down the stretch. its kind of silly to throw off the chemistry of a team that has been top 5 in goals scored and goals against most of the season...

i agree with the no call. there is a difference between having your hand on someones back and actually pushing them. z's contact was the equivalent of a hand check in basketball. it had a miniscule effect (if any) in the way the jackets guy went into the boards.

you know you could just avoid the thread that is specifically about things that annoy us on fsd??? its a fun thread poking at stupid commercials and other general annoyances. maybe next you can go into the thread about the allstar game and complaining they are talking too much about who made the allstar team...

while i am moderately anti-fighting, i just have a major problem with this study simply as a mathematician myself. (yes i actually received my degree in mathematics even though its useless!) the study says this: 76% of the time, one of the teams benefits after the fight. however, they don't make any claim that its the team that wins the fight. so essentially, if your team gets in a fight, 24% of the time it will have no effect, and in the 76% of the time it does have an effect, you will have no idea if you are on the positive end or the negative end!!!! because thats what people forget; if one team is seeing an advantage because of the fight, the other team is seeing a disadvantage. its a very disingenuous statistic.

while it certainly wouldn't hurt to have a higher quality backup, i am starting to think conklin isn't the problem. the defense is very porous this year but because jimmy has been amazing, its hidden a lot of that. because conks is playing only average hockey, it exposes just how many oddman chances and defensive breakdowns we have been having. unfortunately, its all 3 pairings that give up these chances.

saw that a couple times live when i had season tickets in the ahl and went to tons of games. always good for a laugh.

i wouldn't mind having jokinen. though as mentioned, there doesn't seem to be a slot for him right now. he has produced really well for carolina, especially considering they got him for basically scraps. he was great that year they got him for the playoffs. i remember thinking how much better he played down the stretch compared to when calgary made the splashier move and got olli jokinen but jussi ended up being the much more valuable jokinen that got moved that year at the deadline.

i think way more than that. anaheim said they are looking for an equivalent asset coming back. honestly, i think a lot of the trade talk coming out of anaheim is just to motivate players by lighting a fire under them.
