i seriously doubt the referees care who is televising the game. it was a questionable call that at game speed had to be made. even with super slow-mo replay, we still have people in this thread that feel its 100% dirty and others that feel its 100% clean. people all see it in different ways.
-
I think jones and olczyk got it right. the ref made the right call because at full speed it looked dirty. but after slowing it down, the hit appears less questionable. there is not clear contact with the head and its even debatable if brown was behind him at the time.

its funny, i often will use data to back up my positions in an effort to appeal to their ignorant nature. in the past i used this spreadsheet i whipped up: in the spreadsheet i tallied up all the penalty totals for each team. the wings are only 9th in terms of more pp's for than against. did it get through to any of them? of course not. in that thread, you actually have someone that came up with some ratio of pp's to penalty minutes called. and of course detroit was always near the top as it doesn't factor in all the fighting majors that the wings don't get. that forum is like the fox news of hockey forums. they pretend to be all fair and balanced yet are anything but.

woo-hoo, i only got mentioned once in that thread over there! i used to try and have rational discussions, but if it involves the oilers, canucks, or wings, they have no desire to have a rational discussion. my life got infinitely better when i quit posting there.

ericsson is due back before rakalski right? if so, would be nice to have both he and kindl playing in a few games before rafalski is back and a decision has to be made who sits.

am watching nhl live on the nhl network. they just stated: "from the red wings, according to ken holland, johan franzen passed baseline testing, he could return to the ice for tomorrows game against calgary" they quoted it as a new development, so hopefully its not already in another thread. if it is, i apologize and mods feel free to delete or move.

wow, yotes had lots of good possession time and chances, then the canes manage to get a really nice tic-tac-toe goal to win it in OT.

personally, the reason i want to see some tweaks made now is so they can get guys going and then get back to this as their 3rd line. i think its the best combo of guys. but for whatever reason it isn't working now. if you can change it up for a few games and get some guys playing better, then all of a sudden this line can be more effective. i would just rather see the changes sooner than later; because if you let it go and there is no confidence in that line working together, then it pretty much goes out the window the rest of the season. obviously getting abdelkader back gives more flexibility in the bottom 6, but i just think waiting will do no good. start changing the bottom 6 around to see if anything sparks.

hawks lose. quite the nice saturday. wings and grifs win. hawks and pens lose.
-
columbus takes the lead. 10 mins left.

i have no problem with that 4th goal howie gave up. there is a reason selanne has scored over 600 times.
-
that was some great possession

if it wasnt for the top 6 being so good right now, it would be costing the team games. can't wait around forever for chemistry to develop. with how well the hawks are playing, a few points might be the difference between a division title and a top 3 seed and losing the division and being 4th or lower.

i don't think modano or hudler are incapable of being 3rd liners. i just think they aren't meshing well at all. i also think modano is totally unmotivated out there. many dallas fans had been saying that for a couple years. the change of scenery hasn't changed things. i would much prefer a 3rd line that can score on a regular basis. when your first line has selke type guys on it, you dont have to have a shut down line for a 3rd line.

our top 6 is playing so well and our bottom 6 is totally brutal. hopefully the top 6 can prevail tonight!
-
woooooooooooooo!
-
he's actually a pretty decent goalie. problem was in calgary he only got to start once a month at the most. can't stay in nhl shape when you never play.
-
fyi - griffins up 1-0 on a goal from owens (assist - coetzee) at the end of the first
-
wooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!
-
at least the 3rd line generated chances. thats at least progress. better than getting stuck in their own zone their whole shift like usual.
-
woooooooooo! at least the top 6 is still awesome!
-
the bottom 6 needs a shake up. neither line is looking particularly strong at this point.
-
more minuses for the 3rd line. for those that say give them time, their lax play could cost us the game tonight.

milbury was on nhl live yesterday and when asked he said he thinks he would have at least gotten half a season and probably a full season in todays environment. kinda funny to think how we have all turned into such ******* about this.
