Marleau is $6M/yr minimum. We weren't willing to pay 5 for Hossa, I'm thinking the chances of spending 6 on Marleau are fairly small.

Faked forehand shot, pulled to the backhand and gently slid it between the pads as Backstrom overplayed it, thinking he was going to rip it high on the backhand. It was a great move and looked effortless, as Pav so often does.

As a Canadian hockey fan, I hope other Canadian hockey fans are as embarrassed by this post as I am.

This is a chance for Ozzie to put up or shut up. Jimmy's play has been nothing short of spectacular and Ozzie has been a firsthand witness. This is his chance too make a statement and show that he's ready to start playing up to the level that we know he can. If we were in a playoff spot with a 10 or 20 point cushion I could understand bitching about not getting starts, but every point is crucial right now and inconsistent goaltending isn't going to help an injury ravaged team steal the important points. Shut 'em down Oz! We're all rooting for you

I say Bertuzzi without a moment's hesitation. He looks very natural playing on the top line with elite company and has contributed the way we all hoped he could when he got signed. I hope he's back next year for 1.5

The two things that are required in the shootout (soft hands or a good shot) are the very thing that are keeping Helm from being a superstar in this league.

Just for a change of pace: Chicago 8 Detroit -3 -
until we're actually in, I'm going with "Better luck next time!"

Alberta, BC and Ontario would be top 3 in the league every year without exception. It would make for a pretty lopsided league. EDIT: Upon further thought, scratch Alberta and BC from that list. The Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs would both be nearly as stacked as the Canadian Olympic team.

Started watching the team in '88 for two reasons: Steve Yzerman and the Winged Wheel

So far I'm liking "Joey's Right Hand" and "Feed the Mule" Your first album could be called "Lost on the Island" with the leadoff single "How pathetic is that?"
-
It would be a beautiful thing if Backes broke his hand doing this horses*** and had to miss the Olympics

I was watching this game with a buddy tonight and I said to him "wow, there are reputation calls, but this ref really ******* hates Alex Burrows." Turns out I was right. I know Burrows is going to get fined and probably suspended, given his candidness on the situation, but I hope the NHL decides to investigate Auger so we can finally get this idiot away from our game.

This is certainly up there

The only NHLers I'm aware of that still use wooden sticks are Paul Stastny and Fredrik Modin. Even Jason Spezza switch recently, as far as I know.

Another team in the league FINALLY gets a taste of that bulls***. I don't even care that we didn't deserve to win, we were owed this one for all the times we outshot the other team 50-20 and lost 2-1. HOWARD IS THE MAN

Here comes the golden 6 pack GO CANADA GO -
Hart: Joe Thornton - if Ryan Miller can continue his play for the entire season he will win it, but winning the points race by a wide margin is usually a world-beater Lady Byng: Pavel Datsyuk - Elite player, on pace for 12 PIM Vezina: Ryan Miller - this one isn't even close in my mind Calder: John Tavares - the gap is tightening, but JT has been the best rookie to date Norris: Duncan Keith - Again, not even close. Mike Green is closer to a Selke winner than he is a Norris winner. Jack Adams: Dave Tippett Selke: Pavel Datsyuk - even with the production dip, he still is +11, leads the league in takeaways, is 10th in faceoffs at 57% and is the #1 shutdown player on a completely depleted roster

How you could possibly want Cleary in the top 6 rather than Bert is beyond me. I love Cleary but he's certainly a more capable roleplayer and Bert has a serious scoring touch when he gets on a roll.
