His father passed away this year, his mother's condition is rapidly declining due to Alzheimer's and his son was born a couple years ago with a serious deformity and more than likely requires a lot of special attention. I don't think I'd be able to concentrate on stopping rubber either.

I won't cry conspiracy until I see that we've actually been saddled with that *******

Worse yet, Pierre McGuire just picked us to win over Boston

We could have 2 Kerry Frasers reffing every one of our games and I'd be satisfied because we wouldn't have to see O'Halloran

Obstruction Pt 2: Return of the Hossa

How about instead of "Lets Bring It" we go with "Lets Keep It"

The Sharks got away with murder early in this one anyway. The Kalinin "interference" call was absolutely ludicrous, and the Yandle slashing call that wasn't accompanied by a Michalek roughing call led to the first San Jose goal by Thornton. Michalek was absolutely mauling the defender behind the net. This game wasn't pretty, but we'll take it ;-)

Shane Doan is officially my favorite Red Wing for the next 24 hours

That's a running gag that's been around as long as TSN has been on the air. They're extremely biased when it comes to the Leafs, Jays, Raps, Argos, etc.

I would definitely say the downfall of Anaheim was losing Andy McDonald to St. Louis. If they'd maintained the basic core of the cup winning team, he could easily have become a consistent 40+ goal, 80+ point player for the next decade with that team. It's crazy watching powerhouse teams absolutely grenade after a cup run (Anaheim, Pittsburgh, Calgary next year) while Detroit has kept everything wrapped up in a tidy package year after year. We really are spoiled when choosing between Hossa and Franzen is a huge concern while we still have Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom, Rafalski and co locked up.

Actually, they had their wakeup call, then hit the snooze alarm and have subsequently had another wakeup call. This s*** had better come to an end in a big hurry. I fully expect the Wings to win the President's Trophy. Anything less would be a pretty big disappointment given the expectations we all had coming into this season.

Only met her and Gordie once, but she was a lovely lady

Brendan Morrison, Gary Roberts and Miroslav Satan all waived

I've said it before and I'll say it again: New Jersey needs to sign Satan ASAP -
I wouldn't be shocked, really. I'm more than willing to bet he's had at least 1 offer tabled that's better than this.

Filppula for Lehtonen straight across. 1. Wings bolster shaky goaltending with a great backup for Ty whose contract expires at the end of the run 2. Slip Leino up to "Fil" in 3. Make Helm a permanent fixture on the roster as the 4th line center 4. Free up 3 million in salary for 2010 to increase the chances of signing Hossa, Franzen or both wishful thinking?

Let's not forget that there was talk of Holland pulling the bait and switch with Brunnstom and Leino. So far I'd say Brunnstrom has been as good as advertised.

I, for one, am glad to hear him come out and declare that in the face of everything that's gone on lately.

Just when things couldn't get worse for the Isles...

It is now 100% clear that the Blue Jackets intend to shop Leclaire, which is an extremely smart move given how well Mason is playing and Leclaire's potential trade value. -
It's funny that you felt that way because I found Cheli's limited ice time really encouraging tonight. He made some very solid defensive plays and some great clears on the PK. Usually I'm pretty hard on Chelios, but tonight was an exception I guess. What I will say is that Lilja has been unbelievably impressive this season. I would argue that he's been our most consistent defenseman and our top penalty killer.
