Those are some bold predictions
-
Every game I watch this team I find myself applauding Andreas Lilja and questioning Niklas Kronwall. There is something very wrong with that. I think Stuart has actually looked pretty damn good so far this year.
-
Not that I agree with the showboating, but hitting a guy in the face with your stick is a completely classless move and should be condemned far more than a kid celebrating a goal. I hope they suspend that gutless cocksucker.

The day Jarome Iginla breaks his hand on someone's helmet and misses 2 months will put this argument to rest. Iginla is a tough customer - no doubt about it - but he's not paid to be one. He's paid to score goals. I would be absolutely furious if Hossa lost his cool and f***ed up his hand over some petty altercation. Star players are an investment by the team and are expected to measure up to a certain level of production. This is why we pay Aaron Downey $500,000 and Pavel Datsyuk $6.7 million. Downey's role is filled easily and replaced easily, Pavel is one in a million.

12/20 GDT: Kings, 4 at Red Wings, 6

Former King singlehandedly downs the Former Wings 3-2 Wings Stuart x3 Quincey, Calder :looney: -
I know it's bad form to quote oneself, but somehow I feel this bears reflection on my part

I'm just hoping they call it the Steve Yzerman Sports Arena

No more excuses. No more of this "it's early in the season" s***. We need a convincing win in this one. We need this game to be something to hang our hat on going forward so we can start playing like champions again.

12/10 GDT: Red Wings 4, Flames 3 (OT)

I'm astonished that Hossa didn't score in this game, he had some tremendous chances. -
Which player in the NHL would wanna play for detroit the most?

100% without a doubt Dany Heatley -
My point is that they need to nip this problem as soon as possible with measures that actually mean something. What do you propose? "Oh Mr. Avery, you silly goose, please don't make tactless comments because they hurt our feelings." Somehow I just don't think he'd get the message.

It's simply bad for the ethical side of business. The NHL is perhaps the last vestige in professional sports that can - for the most part - be considered a gentleman's league. In the NHL you treat your opponent with respect and the league disciplines the guys who don't follow the rules. Of course, this isn't always the case, but generally speaking things run pretty smooth for a league with this many egos. If Sean Avery is allowed to run around unmuzzled with these types of disparaging remarks, it opens up everyone in the league to run their mouth in the media and it makes the NHL seem extremely bush league. The example I keep coming back to is: Do any of you guys that disagree with the Avery suspension disagree with Chris Simon being suspended for calling Mike Grier a ******? To me it boils down to exactly the same principle. It's purely a matter of respect and we don't need this kind of s*** ruining our game. Period.

Looking at that list of candidates honestly just makes me feel bad for America going into 2010

Fedorov Ovechkin Heatley ummm honestly, I hate every other team in the league, so even admitting these 3 is tough for me. I can recognize greatness and I find myself rooting for guys at certain times (like Semin right now), but for the most part my favorites wear or have worn a winged wheel at some point.

I can think of approximately 29 other teams that would kill for Rafalski on their roster right now. In no way would this move be good for the club. Just accept Hossa for what he is and it'll help you sleep a lot better at night.

Conklin to get second straight start Monday

Glad to see this move. I've been thrilled with every one of Ty's performances this season and Osgood has looked downright terrible thus far (albeit with intermittent flashes or pure brilliance). Nothing would make me happier than to see our goaltending tandem play off of each other a la Oz/Dom last season. A little healthy competition never hurt anyone, eh boys? -
I'm honestly a little surprised that everyone thinks that this firing was unwarranted. Melrose wasn't given "16 games to turn around the league's worst team", nor was he given a ragtag bunch of misfits to turn into a hockey team. Melrose was given a teriffic opportunity to mould a great mix of seasoned pros, young talent, a very capable goalie, and one of the top ten players in the world into a playoff contender and he blew it in catastrophic fashion. The biggest issue without a doubt has been the distribution of ice time and his inability to mix up lines to generate scoring. It doesn't take Mike Babcock to figure out that Lecavalier needs a minimum of 20 minutes a night if their team is going to score goals. The guy has 92 goals and 200 points in his last 2 seasons. The team his the jackpot with Stamkos and melrose plays him sparingly at best. Even the best offensive players aren't going to play to their potential with 10 minutes of icetime per game and limited powerplay time. Team not winning? Last place in the league in goals for? Here's an idea: try Stamkos on the first powerplay unit with Lecavalier! Barry Melrose is a ******* clown and if a competent coach was in charge of the Lightning from the get-go this year, they'd likely be right in the mix for 8th in the East.

Without a doubt in my mind, the best Red Wing on the ice tonight was Maltby. He chased down pucks like a rabid dog, caused turnovers, made great checks, had several scoring opportunities, and just generally shined, all with limited ice time. Let's hear it for Kirk for a change.

The primary issue I have with Stuart is the same reason I feel that Dion Phaneuf is not yet an elite defenseman - they're always going after the big hit. Stuart is constantly putting himself out of position by trying to cream the oncoming winger with a devastating hit and I think our opposition has recognized this and begun to capitalize on it. Stuart just needs to watch how Nick handles himself when dealing with rushing forwards. I'm all about guys finishing their checks, but Stuart's timing has been all wrong this season. As for Kronner, I honestly think he's just having a run of bad luck, because the majority of the time he looks composed and is making smart plays. That said, the major weakness of our second pairing is their inability to make quick plays against aggressive forecheckers. Kronwall is arguably one of the best puck moving d-men in the game, but unlike Lidstrom, he needs time to eye up the pass. Stuart, on the other hand, panicks with the puck the way Rafalski does and makes a lot of really poor choices against forecheckers.

The way the Sharks have been looking lately, let's all hope he's been stricken with a sudden case of Mylegisgoingtofalloffitis
-
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Steve Ott to f*** off
-
It was nice of Hossa to let all those random guys pretend to be Red Wings with him
-
Terrible news So awful to see such a promising life never reach his potential. RIP

Brashear is a complete and utter coward. Bogosian is just a kid trying to make his way in this league and that was a perfectly clean check. Brashear was just taking out his frustrations after his team got their asses handed to them. I really hope Karma pays a visit to Brashear soon.

I'm thinking this might be a fake I don't remember "Leeavalier" playing for Tampa
