REAL FANS OF BUTTHURT (real fans of butthuuurrt) tonight we salute you, mr post lockout penguin fan (mister post lockout penguin fan) Yes, you support your team through thick and thin, but mostly when they are winning (f*** losers) You wear your powder blue "throwback" with the number 87 gracing its shoulders and back (heeee is the next gretzky) When your team is down you blame the refs, the boards, the coaches, but never your team (THEY ARE CHEATERS) so crack open a nice cold bud light mr. whiner for the winner, this one is for you ( mister post lockout penguin fan guy )

the butthurt at letsgopens.com is hilarious.

Cherry sees right through Kunitz's BS, he's chewing him out for making a bonehead move.

Great period overall by the Wings. They weathered the early storm, got momentum off a perfect penalty kill, pulled off a goal, and get a long PP to start the 2nd. Gotta build on it.
-
BUT, BUT, DATSYUK WAS SUPPOSED TO BE CRIPPLED AND ONLY AT 50%!
-
Datsyuk is looking really comfortable so far, great news.
-
OH Mule!
-
fantastic kill, now build on it

Hos***, the Wings are FLYING out the door. They look pumped for this.

Too bad you guys missed it, Ken Holland was interviewed by Ron on CBC instead of the usual Penguins circlejerk. Basically said a bunch of stuff we already know; defense wins championships, Datsyuk is going to start out on the wing and will probably shift back to center if he's feeling good, special teams need to be better and turnovers need to be cut down.

Ken Holland on HNIC

Since when? The entire sports media is one big long Penguins circlejerk, I barely hear about the Wings from them beyond being reminded that they're 'old'.
-
Penguins top heavy in talent while Wings more evenly distributed
Cern replied to thegreat66's topic in General
I'd say Datsyuk's and Zetterberg's double-shifting comes mainly through special teams since they play both on the PP and the PK, which Crosby and Malkin generally don't do. They all double shift, just in different respects. -
Bone bruises are painful as hell, it probably felt like it was broken but x-rays already confirmed last round his foot is intact.

He's also inevitably going to put Pittsburgh's D into a bit of a hole. Even if he's not producing the Pens can't afford to ignore him, otherwise he's going to start capitalizing. Ultimately that means those bottom defensive pairings are going to be forced even further against the scoring threats on the 2nd-4th lines.

So, what jersey will it be this time around, white Lidstrom, red Zetterberg, or blank WC? I had a great streak going wearing the Lidstrom with only two losses in the playoffs when wearing it; I swapped for the Zetterberg one for game 3 against the Hawks and promptly swapped back. The last two games are making me think the away jersey juju is starting to dry up, though.

According to NHL.com he is a go. Praise the hockey gods, and curse them for not bringing him back two games ago.

Please, Wings, for the love of god, just play a full 60 minutes as though you actually care this time and everything will sort itself out. I missed my brother's freaking graduation for game 4, I'm bringing as much empathy as I can, now it's your turn.

I don't entirely remember, but I think the Wings got a penalty about a minute later that they got scored on. Even if for the sake of argument that penalty was entirely legit (and it probably was), going 4 on 4 with a shortened power play is a HUGE difference from a full penalty kill. As you say officiating is hardly the sole reason the Wings lost but that non-call went a huge way towards the final score. In fact before game 4 I'd have said officiating in general has been hugely influential by virtue of the Penguins having had serious trouble scoring without physically outnumbering the Wings.

Best speech in the history of the universe. The Gettysburg Address, Winston Churchill's 'Fight them on the beaches' speech, all pale in comparison.
-
I don't care how hard officiating is, FOUR people letting a too-many-men call slide for a full 20 seconds is completely inexcusable, it's the easiest most cut-and-dry call in the entire rulebook when it happens for a fraction as long as it did in game 3. I'm not screaming conspiracy but I seriously haven't ever seen officiating so incompetent since the Hand of God.

Bah, beat me to it.
