Nobody Can Beat the Wings at their Own Game

BUT BUT BUT WE HAVE SO MANY SOFT EUROS ON OUR TEAM D:

    CBC, or NBC.

CBC since I actually have it.

SCF GAME 1 GDT: Penguins 1 at Red Wings 3

Bah, give the Penguins the CS. Ultimately it would reflect perfectly upon both teams. The Penguins, who are Two Great Forwards with Special Guests, can have the individual trophy. We have the best TEAM and will be reflected accordingly with a Cup.
  4. PK is easily our biggest weakness. That said, the Penguins have awful PP numbers, something in the realm of 18%. On the flip side their PK is better but our PP is absolutely dominating compared to their. Gonna be interesting to see which one ends up winning out.

    Who was the last team

    Um, the Wings.

    GAME 1-NO DATSYUK, NO DRAPER!

They're also pretty much the only things on the Penguins' roster that are better than Toews and Kane.

SCF GAME 1 GDT: Penguins 1 at Red Wings 3

The good news is that they'll be able to recycle the ad for next year, just with Crosby adding 'again' at the end of every sentance.

    GAME 1-NO DATSYUK, NO DRAPER!

X-Rays have already confirmed it isn't broken. MY guess is that it's something like a bone bruise.

Good news! Maggie the Monkey picks Pittsburgh

"You are now reading every post in this thread in my voice!" FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

    GAME 1-NO DATSYUK, NO DRAPER!

That could change should Stuart make Crosby eat plexiglass again...

    Are you Superstitious

I have some jersey-wearing superstitions. It used to be that I wore the opposite colours that the wings were playing in, but these playoffs my white Lidstrom jersey has only tallied a single loss (Wings-Ducks 6) when I've worn it during games. I actually tried going back to the reverse-colours thing by wearing my red Zatta kit in last round's game 3 and promptly switched back for 4 and 5.

NHL predicts most exciting series ever

The way he's played the last few games, who knows? If he's getting into a hot streak he couldn't have picked a better time for it.

This time it will be different

Even that isn't necessarily true. If anything, the Penguins' scoring depth has receded from last year, it's just being covered up by Malkin and Crosby's personal numbers. I really don't feel like going back through all the games' boxscores these playoffs but 10 of 12 Penguins forwards are completely dead in the water without one or the other feeding them pucks. Even if you only partially contain one of the two - which Detroit is more than capable of doing - the Penguins are going to run into scoring trouble.

    Promise me this Wings Fans

Presumptuous, but fair enough. That said, if Pittsburgh does win, I'm switching off from as much national hockey broadcasts as I possibly can for the next year. I don't think my stomach can take the 12-month-long media circlejerk that would inevitably happen if Crosby won the Cup. And I don't mean that as a jab at Crosby, despite his attitude he's a great player and he ultimately can't control what the media says about him, but it's seriously going to tickle my gag reflex when HNIC inevitably starts interjecting a story about the Penguins' ungodly Cup run between play of some Vancouver-Edmonton game and crap like that.

    Stanley Cup Finals Discussion Thread

I'm not entirely familiar with the bookies but I believe that -155 means that someone has to bet $155 to get a $100 payout. The long and short of it is that the Wings are the favorites according to Vegas.
  16. Some people in the GDT were asking where they could rewatch tonight's game, I'm making a new thread just so it dosen't get lost in the back end of the GDT. For the record, ALL of CBC's HNIC games can be found and rewatched in full here after the game is over: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/ondemand/ For the game in question, navigate to HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA -> FULL EVENTS. Click on the 'expand' icon at the edge of the video window to expand the menu, Chicago-Detroit should be the first one on the list as it's the most recent. Unfortunately during the playoffs CBC usually dosen't have much of any postgame commentary, but the game itself is there in full! PS, you might require a Canadian IP in order to view these. If that's the case give me a shout, it's actually relatively easy to set up a proxy and I can guide you through it

WCF GAME 5: Blackhawks 1 at Red Wings 2 (OT)

If you're still around, I made a new thread about this in General Discussion, it has all the info on rewatching the HNIC stream.

cbcsports.ca keeps full archives of HNIC games, it should be up there tonight/tomorrow.

    Sergei Gonchar

I just don't see Gonchar as a defenseman so much as a PP quarterback who happens to be on the blue line. In any case, he still dosen't look 100% after that hit to his knee.

    Conn Smythe winner

I'm fine with either Crosby or Malkin getting the Conn Smythe. The Penguins are Two Offensive Powerhouses Featuring Special Guests, individual awards are fittingly appropriate. We'll keep our team award.

WCF GAME 4 GDT: Red Wings 6, at Blackhawks 1

Don't bother, CBC keeps full-length recordings of all their HNIC games. You might need a canadian proxy though, but I can help you with that if you need.

What Should Babcock Do With Hossa?

He was the Habs top scorer when he was healthy and the Habs' went into freefall when he was injured. If anything his team needed him badly.
