He's been looking kinda weak - in at least one game he's been slow as molasses on the breakaway. I would imagine he'll perform better when he has better linemates to play with. With Datsyuk I imagine he'll have a better offensive output.

The Pens have some special teams issues.

I'm in the 'oh well' camp. Wishing the injury was career-ending is classless as f***, yes, but people were ripping into Chelios like knives in roast beef last playoffs and were glad to see his injuries remove him from the roster - rightfully so given that some blunders he made directly led to lost games. Now all of the sudden we want him back on the ice? With the kind of talent Detroit has on the blue line I believe Chelios is now better suited to help the team in an assistant coach role rather than as a player. It absolutely boggles my mind to see some of these defensive 'prospects' we have that are STILL stewing around in Grand Rapids because Chelios further logjams the roster by wanting to suit up for yet one more year.

I don't mind the fans' overexaggeration for the game. The play on the ice felt like a playoff game (my god, some of the saves made on both sides...) and the crowd seemed to play off the intensity. Not really sure why so much ire was focused on Hossa though

Personally I don't see the problem with it. Soccer allows goalies to be captains, I've never really understood why goalies in hockey can't be.

Not a night goes by this season where I won't be praying for that scenario. I'd rather see yet another deep-south franchise SC win than to see Crosby lift the cup.

Problem with the Calgary Flames is that it isn't really 'their' team name. It's just a carry-over from Atlanta, where 'flames' actually had some significance.

My least favourites are Thrashers (though largely because I have a ******* hard time saying it without sounding like my mouth is full of food. f*** my accent) Ducks Penguins (Neither of them exactly strike fear into the hearts of opponents) Maple Leafs (At least spell 'leaves' properly. It's like if Detroit insisted on calling itself the Rehd Whings) Best would have to be Panthers (accidentally put in 'Predators'. That one...not so much) Jets, before they kicked it Senators (even though they seem to have 'senator' confused with 'legionary'. Also had the best logo before last season, you have no idea how badly I want the profile face to come back.)

That explains the nameplates, not necessarily the choice of a different font. Not that I've been paying particular attention but I haven't noticed other teams using different fonts for their preseason jerseys.

Icethetics hasn't picked up on this yet, amazingly. Not that I mind too much, the guy in charge of it is a Lightning fan with possibly the worst aesthetic taste I've ever seen.

Interesting catch. Personally I'm a bit disappointed about the Wings' version - I'm hoping they make use of the old-school winged wheel (bigger wheel, smaller wing), as is they're too samey to what they already wear, but again these are far from official.
