    Detroit Red Wings @ Vancouver

lol, we have like 0.5mil in cap space now. I knew Sundin wasn't having any chance in hell of coming to the Wings the moment we got Hossa. I spend most of the year in Vancouver myself and am going to both Wings games at GM Place, I'd love to catch up with some LGWies who are gonna be there.

The best I can think of short of having one person buying all the tickets and then getting paid later (which would be problematic for a whole number of reasons) is somehow having everyone get a seat in the same section; then at least the concentration of Wings fans will be higher.

I'd love to have some kind of group game-crash at GM Place organized. Whenever I go it's on my own and I wind up getting surrounded on all sides by Nucksheads. The only issue is, how would things be organized so that everyone is seated together?

More proof that Ovechkin is basically awesome

He got outscored by ******* Samuelsson at the only point of the season it mattered, losing the Cup in the process. Until he changes that, he hasn't lived up to his hype.

    Another fun thread...

Enjoy your crappy corner-ice seat a country mile away from the rink. Even with binoculars you won't be able to see a thing, and that's assuming the weather is clear.

I STILL Cant Believe Hossa Is a Red Wing

I think Hossa just needed the motivation of being on a team that - no offense - dosen''t lick balls. It's not like he went lazy again once he was traded to the Penguins - f***, he was one of the only guys on the team who consistently showed up to play in the finals.

    Hossa Jersey for sale?

I would wait until more info is given concerning the Winter Classic. If they go with vintage jerseys, go for it. Then even if Hossa leaves at the end of the season you have a jersey from a specific game he played/scored a hat-trick/made the game-winning shootout goal.

Then why not have the game played in a field somewhere? Or otherwise not make the game viewable live? Spending several hundred dollars for a ticket when you aren't going to be able to see a damn thing anyway is absolutely ridiculous, 'nostalgia' or not. That's like me paying 500$ for a Rolling Stones ticket where my 'seat' is outside of the arena they're playing in.

With a rink arrangement like that, they still aren't. Oh wait, that was a Cubs joke. BA-ZING.

I've never understood why college sports are such a massive thing in the States in the first place.

What? Lidstrom being Batman would be awesome.

    Another fun thread...

They have the proposed layout on NHL.com's main page. Not only are the seats five million feet away, they're all at weird corner-ice angles where a near-unwatchable angle on the action is guaranteed! Whose idea was it to put a rink on a BASEBALL FIELD, anyway?

Lidstrom as the next Batman. In a red and white batsuit, of course.

I choked on my Coke. You're a riot.

I STILL Cant Believe Hossa Is a Red Wing

Best of both worlds: To make up for our shallow list of enforcers, Hossa takes to the ice in the Joker's makeup and proceeds to creep the living f*** out of the opposition "Hey Pronger! Wanna see a magic trick? I'm going to make this hockey stick DISAPPEAR!"

    Detroit Red Wings @ Vancouver

From what I can remember hearing, the Canucks have the most expensive tickets in the league, and their prices are jacked up even higher for 'premium' games. I envy anyone who can afford to sit anywhere near that close to the ice, it cost me 110 for an upper-bowl ticket back near a corner both games they played at GM Place. In any case, I noticed the same kind of grouping from back where I was seated. They also have an FM broadcast of the same commentary for gametime. I can't remember the frequency but it works a hell of a lot better than 1040, I could barely hear a thing over the noise of the crowd when I tried it.

    Is Franzen the real deal?

I'm in wait-and-see mode concerning Franzen. Everybody this postseason has been going on about the cap space Zetterberg's and Franzen's contract extensions will take up before we've even found out if Franzen is going to maintain the point-a-game kind of output he produced during the tail end of the season. Yeah, he had a sudden offensive streak, but before that he wasn't producing any stand-out kind of numbers. I want to see if what he was pulling off was just an extended flash in the pan or not before I start saying that his contract is going to be extended, let alone that he'll be the 'real deal'.

A Pittsburgh columnist with a clue

Unlike Bertuzzi or Pronger, Hossa's sole claim to fame isn't being a goon.

I STILL Cant Believe Hossa Is a Red Wing

Hossa is just a dog chasing cars. He wouldn't know what to do with one if he caught it. He also psychologically taunts opponents in the penalty box by telling them stories of how he got his scars...

    Flames sign Andre Roy

Anson Carter: s*** player who did well by virtue of who he shared ice with. Still a s*** player regardless. Todd Bertuzzi: s*** player who is assumedly going to do well by virtue of who he's going to share ice with. Highly likely to still be a s*** player regardless. Sounds EXACTLY the same to me.
  21. So is Zetterberg, a player who has never once played a full season. Somehow Sundin is miraculously invincible to injury or aggression from opponents, much less if he plays on a team where he's going to have a bulls-eye on his back from start to finish? If you want to think that the Wings can coast through 2008-09 with virtually no enforcers anywhere on their team, go nuts, but I see a very long version of last March happening if that winds up being the case

    Flames sign Andre Roy

Anson Carter did 'pretty well' by virtue of sharing ice with the Sedins. Does that make him anything close to a decent hockey player worth his contract. I'd invite you to ask him yourself, but it's a long way to Russia. At least now Calgary has superstar Andre Roy as a Plan B. Bertuzzi going to the Flames - likely to play with Iginla at that - feels like a practical joke has been played that only Anaheim, Detroit, Florida, and Vancouver get.
  23. We don't need more playmaking centers. We need more tough guys capable of throwing their bodies around and watching the backs of our top players, especially now after a Cup win and with Drake gone. Between having McCarty for when we need him and having Sundin on our team for 1/3 of the season only to be carried off in a stretcher because we don't have anyone looking out for him on the ice, the former seems like less a waste of money.

Most sources I've picked up on here in Calgary give strong indications that they want Bertuzzi on with Iginla (who himself provided much of the push to pick up Bertuzzi in the first place) and - I think - Langkow in the hopes that it'll make him regain his earlier form. It's ******* laughable whether that's actually going to happen or not, but in my limited knowledge of the Flames roster I'm not even entirely sure who else they would put there beyond maybe Camilleri.
