The Bertuzzi pick-up told me everything I needed to know about the Flames this coming season. Any team where the coach looks at every avaliable player and prospect at his disposal and thinks to himself "Hmm, you know who is a sure fit for our first line? Post-incident Todd Bertuzzi" is a team that isn't going places.

Easy, him and Pittsburgh at large believe their own media too much. We don't.

I study at UBC and I've been attending the last couple of games the Wings have played there. Unfortunately I've never tried getting an autograph or anything - I'd just freeze up anyway. Although I have no idea where the team stays/eats/whatever, I would think the best/least intrusive way to get an autograph or photo would be to wait out at the players' entrance before or after the game.

Teams are gonna suck. Starting with Calgary. . . . . . . . . . I'm a man of my word HA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!

Why does it HAVE to be the striped jersey? Last I checked, the sweaters the Wings wore during the 50s looked quite different to what the team wears now. You're going to tell me that the dynasty years aren't historically significant for the franchise? And, again, I can't say this enough, IT'S ONLY 60 MINUTES AND THEN IT'S GONE. Do you get this anal about the All-Star jerseys too?

Why so many complaints about a vintage Wings jersey for the WC? It's only going to be worn for one game.

Detroit is playing the Winter Classic this year. Everything I've heard about the New Year's Game is that they don't really do anything special for it. I'll take the WC over a regular old game that happens to be played on the 1st.

Wow, The Wings burn through their four games against Vancouver fast this season. I'll be making my two trips to GM Place less than a month apart.

It might possibly win the popular vote - and it would be epic if it did - but ultimately there's guaranteed to be some clause somewhere in the contest rules that states that the CBC has the final say in who wins. Personally I'd like to see some kind of hockey-related lyrics set to the Washington song: He once held Joe Sakic's winger's hand In a jar of acid. At an exhibition game.

They royally f***ed up contract negotiations with the song's composer, leaving TSN to buy the song outright. Agreed that it's a waste of time, though. Here's a hint on what they should be playing instead of bothering with this reality-show bs: "Ooooooooooooooooooooh, the good old hockey game is the best game you can name, and the best game you can name is the good old hockey game!"

I'd love for the NHL to put on some kind of Vintage Night. The Original 6 and what remains of the Second 6 with vintage jerseys, and Colorado/Phoenix/Carolina wear their original franchise's jersey (Quebec/Winnipeg/Hartford, respectively)

Believe you me, I was being sarcastic about the numbers on the front. You know the part I absolutely love (read: hate with a passion)? People who like those numbers and then say that having the C/A patches on the other side of the Wings jersey looks weird. I actually really liked that one. Their original/current logo looks like a complete mess thrown onto a circle. For years I thought the outline of Long Island was just some blob put in to fill up space.

Remember when Buffalo having numbers on the front of the jersey was so unique and cool? That sure flushed itself down the toilet fast.

Or use the new profile logo that's already drawn up and ready to be slapped onto a jersey.

If every single NBA/MLB team wasn't doing the exact same thing, maybe.

They'd have needed to try very, very hard to outdo that jersey. Their newest home jersey is the exact opposite. It screams "Oh crap, we're supposed to unveil the design TODAY?!" However much they paid a design consulting firm to come up with that jersey, they grossly overpaid.

They should ressurect that St. Louis 3rd jersey that was rejected at the last minute.

RAAAAAAAAAAGE. I ******* hate the 3/4-view logos (Ottawa and Nashville), and they're going the lets-be-like-the-NBA-on-ice route Dallas took this year. They even have a new version of the profile-view senator all officially drawn up and floating around then don't even bother to use it for anything. It's like Ottawa's front office is going 'Neener neener! We have this totally awesome vintage-styled logo just begging to be put on a 3rd jersey but we're going to use a cop-out text-only 3rd that looks like crap because we HATE YOU ALL!'

So you feel the same sort of animosity towards Yzerman too, or...?

Ah yes, the iron arm of the law was truly swung down with great force on that one. That's like me committing a crime and the judge sentencing me to a year in prison, but there's a warden's strike after a month so I'm let free and told I served the entirety of my incarceration. The absolute best that could be said is that at least he didn't completely cheat out and go play in Europe during the lockout or something.

Regardless of what some disillusioned people desperately want to believe, NO HE WASN'T.
