    Wings Concept Jersey

Because, again, it isn't him who's doing it. The concepts are submitted to him by readers, usually under the heading of 'Concept Nightmares'. The original point of the blog was to give news on the EDGE jerseys during last years' offseason, plus give out a couple best/worst logos ever playoff-tree polls. That said, he's a Lightning fan, which in and of itself is inexcusable.

Could Alexei Yashin return to the NHL?

I think the Islanders might just be desperate enough to go for it. 23 goals to top the entire team? Ouch.

The Hockey News Top 50 current players

This season I'd put AO > Crosby no question. Even if Sid wasn't injured it's not like there was nobody else on the team to help get themselves to the #2 spot. Ovechkin virtually single-handedly took the Caps from the bottom of the league to the top of the division in less than the span of a season. That performance reflected in the NHL Awards and imo it should be reflected on such lists.

Uh, because they aren't getting paid? They're just Photoshop creations done in blog readers' spare time. It's not like it's a squad of hired designers drafting these things up for franchises' consideration.

    Where can I order this?

It's sold out there. After many hours of searching back at the start of the SCF I have to conclude that hatland.com is the only place where they're actually in stock. This hat was a ***** to find but it's so worth it.

First recorded pair of ice skates!

Isn't it Kris Draper who should be compared to Chuck Norris? He had the exact same beard, plus he scored a goal using his FACE.

Fair enough, I hate baseball so I'd hate having to constantly correct observations that I'm wearing a Tigers hat.

Not only that, his fav jerseys are the ones the Canucks are currently wearing.

Why not the winged-wheel sweaters from the Howe years? Looks pretty similar but still a vintage throwback, from the franchise's golden age at that.

Sorry to bump this up, but it bears mentioning - since so many signs are pointing towards a Detroit-Chicago Winter Classic, will this possibly result in a one-off 3rd jersey for the Wings? Last season's WC included vintage jerseys for both Pittsburgh and Buffalo, and given the original-6 matchup it would surprise if they didn't do so again. Perhaps a return of the striped DETROIT jerseys or the old, smaller winged-wheel jerseys from the 50s.

    LINDSTROM?!?!?

I think it's more that it just boggles the mind to think that something like that slipped past everyone in charge of organizing the event. It's not getting me all up in arms, but it's definately inexcusably sloppy.

    Zetterberg just left my office

My parents can certainly attest to that. They lived in Edmonton during the dynasty years, in a small city like that they'd always spot Messier or Gretzky at the supermarket or in line at the bank. Now we live about a five minute drive away from Mike Vernon's house (Calgary), but I've yet to spot him.

CTV buys HNiC's theme song (purchased outright)

Thankfully they've pledged to even things out in terms of team coverage. In particular they're increasing focus on the Habs for their centennial. Which means next to nothing in terms of Wings coverage, of course. You know what the funniest thing is concerning the whole ordeal is, though? CBC is offering 100 000 bucks to put up a contest for a new HNIC song. Factoring in other expenses and bringing in a couple celebrity judges and all that jazz, CBC has spent cash in the hundreds of thousands of dollars so as to NOT use the hockey theme.

    The Pens next year

Now we're getting into chaos-theory/quantum physics-esque speculation. If the third goal isn't scored, what's to say that the rest of the game would progress exactly the same way? Maybe Detroit would play a tighter defensive game, avoid that last-minute penalty, and win 2-1. Even if, for the sake of argument, they didn't and the Penguins do score, that's a tie game, not a Penguins win. Saying that that scenario would effectively result in a 7-game series is erroneous - Detroit could just as plausibly score the overtime GWG. I could just as easily say "if the Penguins didn't score that third goal in Game 5, the series wouldn't have even had the illusion of being close in the first place". Ultimately it means jack.

    Off-Season moves

Wouldn't hurt to test the waters, though. Who knows, he might be willing to take a discount for being in a serious cup-contending team.

    Help me with a jersey

So we're in the Bizarro NHL now?

    Where can I order this?

That's my thought on it. I've never seen the old english D cap before, but it seems a little strange using was is essentially the Tigers logo for the Wings, even with the players wearing it. 'Detroit' dosen't quite present the same affiliation as having the winged wheel somewhere on there would.

There's nothing Red Wings-y about the first hat tho

    Where can I order this?

search hatland.com for Red Wings hats, they have it there. I just ordered one a couple days ago, they look ******* sweet. BTW, the gothic D is from the Detroit Cougars years back in the 30s, although it does have a striking similarity to the Tigers' D.
