    Re-naming NHL Trophies

I gotta say George Hainsworth edges Vezina out if only for that seaosn he had a 0.500 shutout record. Apparently the equivalent ofthe chances of that happening today are the same as a basketball player scoring over 700 points in one game.

    Brodeur Ties Sawchuk

Incredible both that Brodeur has matched the record and that Sawchuck's lasted so long, particularly with all those years of butterfly goaltending being the norm.

Draper had seen enough and told them so

There would be a moment of stunned hear-a-pin-drop silence before the entire team bursts into uncontrollable laugher. Everyone would still be stiffling giggles all throughout the rest of the game, distracting them so much that the other team walks all over us and scores like 6 goals

    Re-naming NHL Trophies

Rename the Conferences/Divisions instead, it never should have broken from PoW/Campbell in the first place.

What SO Goal Means For Bert

Honestly? Not much. Simply put, he's NOT first-line material.

Crosby Hat Trick on Hat Night

He didn't shut down Datsyuk anyway given that he wasn't even playing for most of the series.

Crosby Hat Trick on Hat Night

that's a funny way of spelling 'Datsyuk and Hossa'. Thanks for reminding me that Lidstrom was essentially in the same boat, though. To say Crosby was anywhere near as 'banged up' as any one of them until Franzen introduced his horse face to the boards in game 7 is completely laughable, by the way.

Crosby Hat Trick on Hat Night

You mean those two best players who were barely healthy enough to be wearing skates in the first place? Given the condition of the walking wounded the fact that he 'drew their attention' dosen't exactly carry much of an impact

Crosby Hat Trick on Hat Night

Indeed, he did a great job doing absolutely ******* nothing in the finals, kudos to him for having his team carry his weight when he was needed the most.

    Line shuffle time...

Given that NOBODY on the team can score, having a line that can't score dosen't seem like much of an issue at this point

    Bertuzzi SUCKS

And to think in the offseason everyone was raving over him. He's been damaged goods for years, Anaheim and Calgary learned that the hard way and now we are too.

For the love of God, just win it. I don't even care how it's done anymore.

    Chicago routs San Jose 7-2

So I guess we might as well just lie down and die given that God's gift to hockey that we obviously should have retained over Franzen even though it would have been mathematically impossible is healthy for the Hawks now. Okay.

That was a sweet little goal there

He is, but I wouldn't exactly call exhibition game play the best evidence. At the end of the day, whether or not Laraque genuinely intended the hit or not dosen't change the fact that ultimately he is expendible and Kronwall is notibly less so. Even if for the sake of argument May WAS in the lineup and punished Laraque in whatever way for the hit, so what? No Habs fan is going to be nervously wringing their hands because he gets a five minute major/suspended for a handful of games. If it was Mike Cammileri or someone like that who made the hit it might be a different story, as is whether or not there was an enforcer on the ice does nothing to change the fact that Kronwall being out for up to two months has a bigger negative impact on us than Laraque being out for maybe 3-5 on the Habs. You're going to want a tough guy or two on the team just to provide some fight-fueled energy for your team if need be, but this idea that Laraque wouldn't take up an opportunity to take out a player far more valuable than himself - and give his entire team a net advantage in the process - just because he might get a few punches later in the game and get suspended for a fraction of the time Kronwall is injured is absurd. If I was a 4th-line grinder on the Wings last finals and I had a chance to take Malkin out for the rest of the playoffs, you bet your ass I'd be taking the risk of enforcer retribution. Beat me up and suspend me a few games for all I care, my team would be laughing all the way to the Cup presentation in the meantime.

Kronwall out 4-8 weeks with sprained MCL

I would think the best thing to do at this point is pair up Lidstrom, Rafalski, and Stuart with any of Lebda, Ericsson, and Meech. Hardly ideal but then at least you know you have at least ONE decent defenseman on each pairing to supervise the weaker guy at all times. Having our two-way players step up and ramp up their defensive play (moreso) will hopefully help a bit too.

That red CA jersey is pretty sweet

11/14 GDT: Ducks 4 at Red Wings 7

Yes and no. This is the first time they've had to pay out for the Wings, but IIRC the deal also applies to three home runs by a player in a Tigers game, which I vaguely recall happening last season.

    Penguins win again.

Penguins are nose-diving in reply to their key injuries. Makes me all the more happy we're 6-1-1 in our last eight despite our guys dropping like flies.

I think I'm going to have to, there's some stupid orientation thing I gotta go to tomorrow night.

In other news, Colorado just scored and are currently leading 2-1.

scanning through posts earlier in the game, his rebound control is apparently still abysmal.
