    Think of the positives..

I was only expecting the Wings to get away with one win in the first two games of the series. Getting wins in the first three games was above and beyond that call and duty, I believe. Let's not get too worried about this, the fourth game is always the hardest to win, the Wings played a little too much as if they were going to ease into a series victory, but they've gotten their wake-up call now and there's no way Turco is suddenly going to win BOTH games at the Joe.
  2. I think 5-6 games is the sweet spot provided they don't become OT grind-fests. Although it's annoying that this game of all of them is when we lose. The Wings seem to be cursed by a higher power to never get that 10-win streak.

Where will the Finals Patch Go?

Detroit moved the C/A patches to the other side specifically because it makes the jersey look unbalanced otherwise. Putting the SCF patch there would defeat the purpose of moving the C/A patches in the first place.

And so will end the best playoffs ever.

    HUGE problem/question

The Rangers jerseys have a similar situation with their jersey layout. For the HNIC night game (when they inducted the new HoF's players) instead of fitting it onto the other side of the jersey they put the patch on one of the shoulders. Since like the Rangers the Wings don't have secondary logos on their jerseys and they moved the C/A patches over for the exact reason of them not fitting quite right in the normal spot, I imagine that's what they would do for the SCF patch. So, long answer condensed, on the shoulder instead of the chest.

    Return of the Glow Puck?

I'd have figured that VS's baby-feeding approach to commentary does that already.

    Return of the Glow Puck?

See my post. I saw something about exactly this during tonight's game on TSN. It's a small thin red line behind the goal line spaced slightly further than the width of a puck. Putting some kind of chip in the puck allows the goal light to go off when the puck is between the two lines.

    Return of the Glow Puck?

Although during tonight's game I saw something about having a sensor set up just behind the goal line so that the goal light is automatically set off when the puck crosses it. I wouldn't mind something like that.

    Return of the Glow Puck?

Oh lawd. At least VS is finally admitting that it's lost all credibility.

    Game three notes...

Don't worry, we'll kill the Penguins for you if that makes you feel better.

I was under the impression Cherry was paid to talk hockey. Instead more and more of his timeslot seems to be dedicated to how awesome fighting wars are. He's lightened off in the last little while but for the last year and a half or so I'd massively facepalm whenever he'd deviate into how much he loooooooooves the armed forces.

    Red Wings and Penguins bias

And my two cents? Pittsburgh's offense is ultimately deeper than Detroit's. But have any of the teams they've played series against up to this point had any kind of competent defense? Detroit has the best blue line in the league, and they have the numbers and silverware to back it up. What kind of defense does Pittsburgh have to stop Dats or Zetts? Hal Gill? Even in games against the piss-poor Senators the Penguins have given up a fair amount of goals. They've gotten by because their offense has been able to capitalize so effectively but good luck having the same kind of results with Lidstrom Kronwall Rafalski and Stuart standing in the way.

    Red Wings and Penguins bias

Detroit didn't have the desperation of needing to automatically put every early-round draft pick into an NHL jersey at the earliest possible opportunity. Pittsburgh did.

    Upset with Versus broadcaster bias?

YES! Too much love is being given to Sidney "Hey, I scored 25 goals this season, can I have my face on another million Wheaties boxes please?" Crosby.

    Upset with Versus broadcaster bias?

If you have a decent internet connection, try CBC's website. Their sports section has a media player that streams all their games live, plus has all their HNIC games archived in full. You might need a Canadian proxy to get it to work though. Failing that try myp2p.eu. Some of the streams might use CBC/TSN instead of VS.

That 'passionless' hockey is getting us the closest we've gotten to the Cup since we last won it. If you can even call it that, I can't say I'd consider Kronwall's string of massive hits or Franzen's scoring frenzy as 'apathetic' hockey. I think the plot's been lost a little, if Cherry is going to whine about passionless hockey he should be pointing the finger at the Devils or Islanders long before the Wings. Hell, if Cherry is going to whine about sub-par attendance he should be pointing the finger at the Devils or the Islanders (or hell, most sunshine teams) long before the Wings.

    Balsillie tried to buy Sabres

When I see how much the NHL's head office furiously masturbates to Sidney Crosby's image being plastered absolutely everywhere possible, sometimes I have to wonder if this is a bad thing.

    Balsillie tried to buy Sabres

I've never supported expansion, at least not in the direction it's being forced into. Why bother with new horizons when you have a largely untapped market of 32 *million* people being completely ignored for markets that flat-out don't give a f*** about hockey? Sure the South has some big cities, but it means jack if you only get half-full attendance for games (and even then only because of a ridiculous number of freebies offered as incentives, which winds up negating whatever meager profits are being made anyway). f***, having a hockey team in Finland or Sweeden would make more sense than Atlanta.

    5-9 GDT: (2) Pittsburgh vs. (6) Philadelphia

The Penguins have yet to face up against a competent defense this playoffs. Detroit has arguably the best d-man squad in the league, if anyone can shut down Pittsburgh's offensive depth it's them.

In other words he wants Detroit to become more like Nashville. Lovely.

    Balsillie tried to buy Sabres

Talent dosen't put butts into chairs, as most sunshine teams are proving. The NHL is ultimately a buisness, and chronic half-empty attendance dosen't do that buisness any good.

    Balsillie tried to buy Sabres

Baslille's stunt in Hamilton made Nashville's original over shy away from the deal; he wanted the Preds to stay in Nashville
