I could see Oats in that deal after all they did end up trading him for Bernie Federko Gretzgy would have never have over shadowed Yzermans career in my opinion, Messier, Kurri, Anderson probably only excelled along side Gretz. I was never a fan of his as a kid but I did respect what he did Im kind of glad they never traded for him though. Then everyone would have a wings Jersey cause of him. I kind of like how Detroit was at the very bottom and climbed the ladder with their own draft choices and built the big red machine from their own core of players. Would have been something to see though.

Osgoods holes looked huge you know the ones over his shoulder in the top corner and between the pads when he goes down. Kronwall was throwing some big checks keep your heads up! Staurt looks solid Ryno ( dont think its spelled that way) is a rookie id like to watch he looked very fluid out there to me and he looks like he could be pretty slick.

Do they still have the shoot out in the preseason despite the score wether its a tie or not? I want to see how this big oaf the leafs have does in a shoot out?

Typical everytime the wings come to town they dress a minor league team and everytime they get beat and all my friends think the leafs are soooooooooooooo great and by the time the spring rolls around they are all hiding.

cheaper tix and easier to get them in detroit than toronto makes sence there are leaf fans there im sure lots of them are from windsor / london areas though

I sure hope for the leafs sake he pans out and dosnt turn into one of those guys that did well on another team but when he joined the leafs turned into a ghost. So much for Burke building the team through the draft, I will say this hes turned it around real fast, I think the leafs need a playoff bound team they are way over due, been too long.

23 Stuart, Brad D 3.750 (we know, he has a no trade clause) Cant see it happening why trade a young tough defenceman who can log minutes and play hard in any situation. 55 Kronwall, Niklas D 3.250 Wings dont trade players they developed they gave this guy a big contract early in his career hes here to stay 3 Lilja, Andreas D 1.250 I think they like him and how do you trade a guy who just came off a concussion. 52 Ericsson, Jonathan D 0.900 Not the way Babcock praises him 22 Lebda, Brett D 0.850 14 Meech, Derek D 0.500 So its down to these 2 I think Lebda on another team could be a 4/5 deffenceman rather than a 6/7 guy in Detroit. meech really hasnt done much so a team could gamble on him and try him out in a 3/4 position and he might drop to a 5/6 guy. I think if Holland was to trade away one of these 2 he might ask them who would like an increased roll on another team Im guessing lebda would rather play for the wings where as meech might like a chance to prove he is ready to play an increased roll for a team like Atlanta Florida or LA.
