I grew a great distatste to Def Lepard after that, I dont have them on my ipod anymore and their greatest hits cd is deep in the back of my cd binder in the car.
-
and if not the awards then the draft and then free agency lots of news to come dont worry
-
good call, id go for either or and or both, 2 Dallas drakes running around out there? wow!
-
I like Iginla too but the knock on him would be he has never won the big prize on the level, others mentioned in this thread all have, something to consider, but with all those captains and leaders it really shouldnt matter who wears it heck even Luongo has captaincy experience.

As Hudler and Sameulsons contract both come to an end the wings will have to decide if they want them to stay IF they arnt read into this... "What happens is there's only so much pie to go around," Wings coach Mike Babcock said. "For example, if I'm not mistaken, doesn't (Evgeni) Malkin go from 3.5 to 8.7 (million)? There goes two more players. It's called math. So depth is really important as much as star power is. But what they've got going for them right now are good players and good players attract good players. "Sometimes when it's a good situation, a good building coming, a good owner, good general manager, maybe you can get guys to come for less." So wings have good players and its well known the attract good players and have done so at discounts See where im going with this? I have to stress FOR EXAMPLE what if a guy like Fedorov walked into Sammys spot at a discount what if a guy like Sundin took Hudlers spot at a discount? Something like that could happen if Hossa didnt resign.

Im saying read into his words, if the team has holes they can fill them with GOOD players maybe better players CHEAP! Hope that helps

I think these type of players can usually be found at the trade deadline and that reduces the chance of you having a guy like that who gets injured mid season for the rest of the season and then you have none. Nothing wrong with an extra big ugly defenceman though.

Ok Im going to open this up (should be fun) So we are all pretty disapointed in Hossa he didnt come threw as a 7 million dollar man in the playoffs. So the options are 1 sign him long term at what would probably be a very similar contract to Franzens. 2 sign him to a short term deal at a "sale" price something like Paul Karrias ridiculous discount which Im sure the NHLPA will get all up in arms over. 3 let him go because the 2 sides couldnt find what worked for each other. So for arguments sake lets say it didnt happen. If Mats Sundin could make up his friggin mind in 30 minute phone call and agreed to a deal paying him 3ish million over 1-2 years to finish out his career that gives the wings some options with Hudler or Samuelson. Some things to think about who would you rather have on your wing Sammy or Sundin, whos body would you rather have in the corners Hudler or Sundin? Whos shot would you rather have Sundin hitting the back of the net upfront or Sammys hitting the boards from the point? (and even if he did Sundin could pick up the rebound and top shelf it from up front) Im not Saying I want Sundin here im just saying he gives the wings some very interesting options if he could be signed at half of Hossas salary options also include - faceoff ability, leadership, injury prone, another swede lol, age, hasnt won the big prize, cant make up his mind till March,

That would be kinda funny after all they were traded from Ottawa to Atlanta to begin with.
-
Get used to it, Im sure he will be on Cereal boxes and late night TV, every intro to everything hockey will have his face and the cup beside it, Im sure the hockey night in Canada people are already inserting him into next years theme song pregame video.
-
Thing is he needs a trade, he is a signed player, so who do you want to trade?
-
So no injury to Hossa eh, wonder if that contract is still in the top drawer waiting to be signed.

What a strange empty feeling I have. Ive become a little bit of a Redwings news Junkie. Reading the Newspaper sites like Mlive Free Press and Detroit News all pretty much say the same thing, Pens win the cup in 7, Babcock say injuries played a roll but none are identified, There is the Lidstom and Osgood interviews and then the whole Hossa thing and that seems to be it. That will probably be it for a week maybe 2. Its so strange I know a break from hockey will be a good thing, spent a lot of time here and on news sites reading about the wings as well as all those games. My Girlfriend was great she isnt a die hard fan but she understood I didnt want to miss any games and put up with me participating in after game reading on the net. So really 3 months with maybe 4 or 5 days of news left, well bring on the clearing out the locker news, the draft day, free agency, and the roster moves. As I look ahead to next year I see a tired team and hope we inject some new energy in there a few kids will be in the line up that will be good hope there is a veteran gritty guy coming in or at least room to aquire one at the trade deadline next year.

Sure will be starting the season in Sweden, and the Olympics which was pointed out earlier as well on top of 82 games and then the playoff season on top of that I need a nap just thinking about it, maybe ill sleep all summer long and wake up in time for training camp

So here we are almost mid june, and if the WCF or ECF for that matter had gone another game or 2 it could have been a week later into june the cup was finally won. Would you be for playing back to back games for the first 4 games of a series? Eg lets just say round 1 - play friday night saturday night at home back to back games 1 and 2 lets say this is March 6 and 7 for argument sake - play tuesday wednesday away games 3 and 4 march 10, 11 - play home friday game 5 March 13 - away sunday game 6 March 15 - home tuesday game 7 March 17 So some pros and cons I can think of for doing this... Pros - series could be over in as little as a week or stretch out to just over a week - Ice surfaces may not be as crappy in May than June - back to back games would be good for visitors from out of town rather than seeing one game on a weekend you could go for 2 I could see promo departments getting creative with this having something like a dinner hotel 2 games package. Cons - could be grueling playing back to back (extended roster eg players from the juniors could help this eg black aces if available) - might lead to fatigue and cause injuries - less time to heal from injuries - could wreck peoples weekend plans eg family members who dont get sports - could be a scheduling problem especially if teams share a building with an NBA team or have concerts at the same venue.

I dont see it either, they were too tired this year from last years cup run plus next season they start off with games in Sweeden. Just seems like too much, would need a real injection of "new" into the line up to make a 3peat to the finals.
-
I figured he was mobbed by the media so tahts why he missed the handshake line, what I did notice though was Franzen came back into the line to check on him I think that showed some real class Franzen didnt need to do that.
-
I dont feel as bad as I thought I would either, my girl friend is home from work at about 11:30 she will probably be afraid to call me but Im alright, I think having won the cup last year helps, I turned off the TV for the cup presentation wasnt interested in watching that Im sure I'll see enough of that for a long time.
-
My request would be to leave some cap space open so at the trade deadline there are some options.
-
Im sure when Babcock does a press confrence some of the injuries might get mentioned, I dont expect him to tell all its not his personality.
-
Time, go enjoy your summer the sun a few long weekends.
-
they need a tic tac toe pass set up to get threw the shot blocking
