I have a different perspective on this whole thing. I watch more wings games now than I ever have, but I do it because of the net, Im pretty sure you cant calculate viewership from people watching the games over the net the way Im watching it may as well be called TV piracy. But here were the games I got excited about this year, VS the leafs, VS the Canadiens, VS Chicago, VS Anehiem and the Sharks. The leafs are a given cause I live in Toronto and no matter what even if they played once every 3 years it would still be the biggest regular season game of the year to me. The canadiens Cause I work with a habs fan. Chicago cause they killed us last year and they are emerging and the team in the division to compete, taht home and home was exciting to pull away from them by 4 points after Christmas. The 2 teams in Cali because they actually looked like they had something to play for I think every wings fan gets up for a game against the ducks these days and San Jose is sitting on top of our hill with our ex assistant coach. The next must watch for me is the game against pheonix, because they are starting to come around and they beat us last time we were there. My last jersey was an Yzerman I get the whole fan relation to him, Id like to get a Franzen jersey but Im not doing that to find out we lost him in the summer he is the guy I cheer for the most on this team these days. Last season Dallas Drake was the guy that excited me the most so I get the anti euro thing. But I think the 2 biggest personality character players on this team are Datsyuk and Hudler IMO. The only other thing I can think of for veiwership being down might be cause TV shows are getting better, dad cant get the tv from the kids watching 90210, Husband cant get the tv from the wife watching the batchelor. Wife cant get the game on cause her husband is so into the Sci Fi Channel? I dont know.

I wonder if neutral site means a place that the nhl dosnt have a team in eg Newfoundland, or just an existing city that team didnt make it eg Toronto (safe bet) lol It would create some wierd senarios eg, lets say last year the 1st game was to be played in Dallas. Detroit beats Dallas and then has to stick around till the penguins fly in so they can play them twice? How many people in Dallas are going to want to go watch the team they just lost to in the playoffs? Seems strange to me. I think this idea would cause more problems than create a good name for the game.

I kinda like the vegas Idea, I agree great place to have a spectacle and Im sure an outdoor rink would be possible as long as some heat wave didnt blow through. However - I dont like the idea of having it in a neutral site. This is a big revenue put the team on the map event, participating teams would loose the oportunity to show off their winterness. Having said all that you want to make a spectacle in a neutral site how about the allstar game they can use it to promote the game it dosnt even have to be outside. vegas and all stars works for me might actually tune in then to see Sidney Papageorgio and his fake id.

Interesting, they were talking about this at lunch on the radio something they said was the west always has upsets. If Detroit and San Jose both were upset and were out of the playoffs then Van looks great. There are 3 BIG teams in the west though and 1 team in Chicago that will be reved up and Dangerous I think in the post season. Its no secret Osgood is having trouble this year so what do you do with him or any other goal tender struggling? Play him more till he works his way out of his funk? Play him less let him work out his problems on the bench? Benching the guy could wreck his confidence but leaving him in to let in more and more goals in could also do damage? What would you do?

I think they were laughing at the wings fan in the background. The guy being interviewed was standing up infront of someone else and obsturucting the view, the guy in the back a wings fan was motioning to cut the interview and to get the guy to sit down shut up or move outa the way. Im sure his accent and hair didnt help.
