Between 97.1 and his new gig at the fan Brady was working in Toronto up the dial at 640 am doing a hockey show with Bill Waters, on the drive home they were a pretty good tandem together I thought. I dont know what happened but 640 dropped their leafs lunch for the summer I guess Brady got his hours cut too once hockey was over? I dont know if this has anything to do with the discussion here but I wouldn't mind seeing the team wear a patch to honor probert this year, all year would be great but if they wore it and chicago did the same when they played the hawks this year I would be ok with that as well The # its self cant see it being retired for Probert, and I dont think Chelios should have it here either I think if his number goes up it should in Chicago.

Cards sure have come along way from the standard opee chee/tops to the boom in the early 90s when everyone was trying to up the other company with foil emblems and rookie sub sets ect. Now I hear they have little chunks of game worn jerseys in the cards? I have a stack of about six 2.5" binders. I just bought packs, Never completed a set except the 1st opee chee premier had to buy Roenicks card from a store to finish the set. Lots of sets that were close though. No idea what I'll do with them all... wait for the next boom? Or pass them on when I have my own kids? I certainly think they are more keepsakes then something to sell though.

I think its a good deal for the leafs maybe paid him 200 000 more than another team would but what they get back is a guy who is used to winning a guy who has been sitting in the press box off and on and wants to play a guy who can get the puck up the ice and out of the zone i think he can be a good 2nd half of a pair for them.

Something they have been talking about on the sports radio stations here in Toronto was that winning teams should get a salary cap increase reward for teams that make it to the finals. Its actually a Bob Goodenow idea. As Glenn Heally talked about it: players that take their teams to the finals have completed the ultimate goal and should get a raise for doing a good job so for the next 2 or 3 years that winning team should get a cap raise of a few extra million. I personally like the idea why should a team that has drafted and traded well have to loose its assets because of player inflation when younger kids with promising careers come out of heir entry level contracts. I think its good for player/employee - team/employer retention. Interesting, but I have to say show me a good Toronto draft pick??????? Also your looking at this from a Chicago point of view this year look at it from a wings perspective 2 years ago we could have used this to retain our own guys like Sameulsson and not had to sign Williams. keep in mind this is a few extra million to retain depth players going from 800 000 -1.2 million to maybe a raise in the high 1 mil low 2 mil range, not a 10 million dollar big name player to add to a potent roster.

Wings will improve over last season and will play with more heart someone on this team is going to have a bust out year put up some insane numbers not saying its goals or shutouts or +- but someone is going to wow the league. babcock will win the jack adams (he is due) leafs will squeak into the playoffs (they are due) something big is going to happen in the off season in san jose but it wont work again Chicago wont be as bad as your hoping
