I can't argue against that either. Without Getzlaf this series is a sweep for the Wings where as you take away any single Red Wing and while impactful, it wouldn't have been catastrophic. I wouldn't have a problem with Getzlaf getting it. He can set the award next to him in his golf cart.

Ozzie is a solid choice but I never feel like he steals games. He hasn't really lost us any games either. Wings win if they score 3 or more and Ozzie will keep out just enough to win.

What a piece of crap! At the 1st intermission of the Pens/Caps game, he was commending the Ducks on the end of the game shennanigans. COMMENDING THEM! He highlighted Perry going after an injured Rafalski and Getzlaf attacking Hossa while he tried to come to Rafalski's aid. There is a difference between in-game physicality, making a statement, or even trying to get moment with what the Ducks did. They had already won the game, they were not provoked, they were picking on smaller players and injured players, and they weren't fighting by any code of hockey honor I've ever seen. Fighting has it's place in hockey but 1) It takes place within the game 2) It takes place between two willing players or at least two players who were asking for it 3) No Cheap Shots 4) You want to fight, drop the gloves/stick and lose the helmet. Anaheim broke almost every cardinal rule of hockey fighting. AND Keith Jones is talking like it up like the Ryan Getzlaf and Niedermayer were sucking him off under the table. To not do anything about it is one thing. To commend the goons is another level entirely. I hated Colorado but at least I could respect some of them. I hate Anaheim but I can't respect them. I can't accept a loss to those ass clowns. I want a game 7 massacre. I want the Wings to win by 10. If the hockey gods exist, Datsyuk, Zets, and company will make it happen.

You point is moot because the Red Wings wouldn't do that. Especially if they had just won.
-
I apologize. I went to the local Red Wings bar here in Chicago and I don't think I've watched a playoff game there where we won. I am never going there again.

Pronger's website? No thanks, I try to avoid the *** porn.

Can someone explain to me the reasons why Franzen is only being paid 4 mil a year? Is it his defense? Physicality? Skating ability? What specific part of his game prevents him from being a 6-6.5 a year player? Because he is about as clutch as clutch can be. He's averaged nearly a goal a game in the playoffs for the past two years! He should have gotten the Conn Smythe if it wasnt for that brain injury. I'm not sure how we got away paying him so little but I thank the hockey gods we did.

It's a correct call. Basically, they aren't playing the caliber of defense that will allow them to beat the Red Wings. Sunday's game could have easily been 6-1 or 7-1 with all the opportunities we had. The Ducks really need to hold us to 2 or fewer goals a game, if they expect to win.

The misconception that Datsyuk and Zetterberg are equal
Antilles328 replied to JeffBridges's topic in General
I was referring to this season's playoffs only. -
I believe there is a loophole. I believe if the player retires, the cap hit is erased or reduced. Chances are Zets/Franzen won't play till the end of their contract. Secondly, if the cap DOES increase, then every player with a long contract will be getting paid a smaller percentage, leaving more room to sign players. I don't think there is anyway the cap doesn't increase, especially if the NHL gets back in bed with ESPN. We are essentially buying forever stamps for our players.

The misconception that Datsyuk and Zetterberg are equal

I think half of Z's playoff goals have been empty netters. Franzen is indisputably the clutch playoff performer this year. Regardless, I am of the mindset that both Datsyuk and Zetterberg are great in their own ways. Some categories Dats is better, some categories Zets is better but the differences balance out to two great players that I am glad are on my favorite hockey team. This argument is fun though. It's like asking "Which Victoria's Secret Model is the most attractive?". -
I remember this part specifically, and I didn't see what the big deal was. It looks like Hudler lost his balance and Getzlaf ended up behind him and Hudler was trying to get up while being skated into by Getzlaf. It wasn't a penalty and it wasn't a dive. It was two players getting tangled up while one was trying to get up. I can't comment on your other notes cause I don't remember them but except for Chelios I don't think too many Wings have been diving.

Does Franzen not score enough goals on the other team? Geez. Selfish much?
-
He's lazy and he sucks. Or he is distracting the other team with his blooper reel of skating.
-
But when we say it, it's true. When they say it they are whining. It's simple really.
-
He's not scoring because he's lazy and he sucks. Oh wait, did you say Datsyuk? I heard Getlazf. Datsyuk? Datsyuk is doing everything except score.
-
If you are down 3 goals and your best forward has been playing 25 mins a game and is beginning to get run down, why not give him a little rest. It's a lose the battle, win the war mentality. The point is to win the series, not win the game. Pushing your best player to the limit in a game that you will most likely not win, isn't always the best strategy. It's not a horrible strategy by any means.

Injured defensemen. Check Bad shot selection by the Wings. Check Poor officiating. Check Pronger being an *******. Double Check. Sigh...
-
It's not identical to the 2007 series but it sure as hell feels like it.
-
Someone needs to tell Perry that Datsyuk doesn't speak English. He speaks dekes and goals.
-
Leaping Yzermans! I expected to win with a team like that? Lang? Bertuzzi? Chelios? I forgot how bad the injury situation was that year. Both the offense and the defense are significantly better this year. This really made me more confident. Wings in 2.4

I was looking at the stats on the NHL.com and I noticed Crosby was the #1 for assists (so his picture is displayed). Yet Franzen has just as many assists. Why does Crosby get picked over Franzen for the #1 spot. It's not total points because both Franzen/Crosby have 2 G 4 A 6 P It's not alphabetical because Ryder is listed over Malkin for Points when they both have 4 G 3 A It's not points per game because Franzen has 4 A in 4 games whereas Crosby has 4 A in 5. I wouldn't be surprised if the NHL actually biased the stats to default to Crosby (or some sort of popularity based metric) but I can't understand the logic unless Bettman runs the NHL and NHL.com. Anyone have any ideas?

What if Darren McCarty dressed and then threw a octopus on the ice before the first face-off? What would the league do?

What would happen if a player threw an octopus?

Why would you want to watch the Red Wings lose? You do realize I am a Wings fan right? -
WCQF GAME 3 GDT: Red Wings 4, Blue Jackets 1

These announcers are absolutely terrible. Can I get the Red Wings guys back? Although he did say that the Red Wings won during the 1st period.
