Dear Zetterberg, Please tally at least 2 more points than Cindy tonight. I do not want the NHL to have any statistical reason to think that Sid the Pedophilic Mustachioed Kid has been the best player in the playoffs or, God forbid, to have any reason whatsoever to even consider him for the Conn Smythe trophy. I don't believe it will happen. But I do believe it could happen with how much Crosby love the NHL and media has shown in its advertisements, officiating decisions, and everything else.

Oh good. I'm not being pessimistic. I'm just tired of the incessant Crosby love from every angle. The NHL is just banking so much on him when their are so many other good players (and not just on the Red Wings) that it makes me angry. I read the "Stanley Cup Finals preview" in Sports Illustrated and they mentioned Crosby's name over 2 dozen times. You know whose name they didn't mention. The Detroit Red Wings or a single player. They could have at least mentioned who the mighty Penguins were going to play. It's stuff like that that make me want to give up on the NHL.

You have more faith in the NHL than I do. I would not put it past them to give the Stanley Cup to Detroit but the Conn Smythe to the Beardless Wonder in attempt to save their asses. Blame Malkin, Praise Crosby. That's how it's going to happen.

There are two different kinds of calls/non-calls. One is the kind of call that happens all the time, a late hit here, interference there etc. These even out over time. These are the calls that the Pens were complaining about. Ozzie diving for example was somehow worse than Hossa diving. Complaining about these is like complaining about the weather. When its raining in July everyone complains but when its 70 degrees in February no one has a problem with it. Then their are significant botched calls like Lidstrom's goal being taken away in game 1 or Crosby's goal not being a goal in the Flyers series. These have series changing potential. These are worth noting.

Is Therrien gone if the Penguins get swept? If so I have the perfect replacement. He fits perfectly into the Penguins style of play. Aiming to injure players with known conditions? Check! Dominating the first few rounds of the tournament and blowing the big games? Check! Likes to wear to wear team colors? Check!

I'm guessing it has something to do with the last change option and the other team try to put their best line against anyone but HDZ. When this happens Datsyuk gets out against inferior players and has his own offensive party. Datsyuk at home = Defense Datsyuk on road = Offense

It's not the fact that we think Franzen would be injured (they wouldn't let him play if that were the case). It's the fact that the evidence suggests the Pens were going after the head of someone who has just returned from a head injury.

I am pretty sure this is exactly the case. When he has the last change Babcock uses HDZ defensively and puts them out on the ice to stop the other team from scoring goals. This isnt an option when they are playing on the road so HDZ gets away from playing defensively and opens up the offense.

I don't know alot about the salary cap but wont the Pens balance sheet explode once Sidney/Malkin get past the entry level salary restriction? It looks like they have 41 mil in salary and thats with Malkin and Crosby making under a million each. Can anyone elaborate on when they will start making the big dollars?

The reason there is bias against the wings is that they are good. You are much more likely to turn off the game if your team is losing than if they are winning. Thus, when a team is losing the commentators talk about what they are doing wrong because thats the losing teams fans want to get some coverage and feel like they are still involved in the game. It's also important in selling the rest of the series. If they just said, Dallas isn't even a match for Detroit and this series is a joke the ratings would drop quicker than McCarty's gloves.

I believe he was falling and accidentally scored a goal. I could possibly believe that he had an idea of where the puck was and attempted to shoot it. If this is the case I don't believe he was aiming the puck anywhere more specific than on net. So I think it was a lucky/accidental goal but I could believe he was trying to shoot it and he accidentally made a great shot. Again, I love the Wings and Zets is a great player but I don't think this is a testament to his skill as much as it was dumb luck. If it had been a goal by Sakic no one would be arguing with me right now.

I will believe that he might have been intending to hit the puck when he was falling but I think that roofing it was pure coincidence.

No offense to Zets but did anyone else thing that the entire goal was an accident. I really don't think he was doing anything other than putting his stick on the ice to keep from falling over.

Who do you think it is? Malkin? Ovechkin? Alfredson? Iginla? Datsyuk? Try our old friend Peter Forsberg. If Colorado takes a 2-0 lead on Minnesota and assuming that we beat Nashville, it looks like the Rivalry may be back! Colorado appears to be a much better team with Forsberg back in the line up and I for one can't wait for the chance to destroy them again. That being said I don't think we will win that series without some bloodshed. I hate Anaheim as much as the next guy but its Anaheim. They have about as much hockey history as Puerto Rico. Anaheim is an annoyance, Colorado is a rival. Bring. It. On.

I was at today's Wings/Hawks game and don't get too upset we lost on purpose. I had nosebleed seats as usual but I spied an interesting face in the press box nearby. Who was it? Darryl Sutter, coach of the Calgary Flames. Either they are anticipating us falling behind San Jose, Nashville or Vancouver taking 7th place from them, or already looking at their potential second round match up, because Sutter was definitely not in Calgary tonight. Calgary is playing tomorrow night in Minnesota so Sutter decided to pop on down to Chicago and check out the competition. The Wings realized this and instructed Downey to throw the game.

Fact: Sutter was at the Wings/Blackhawks game Fact: The Red Wings got demolished. Fact: Flames are playing Minnesota tomorrow Fact: We are currently 1st in the West, Calgary is currently 7th. Everything else is merely conjecture. I just thought it was interesting that he was there since chances are that Calgary will not play us until the second round (assuming we both win).
