What a strange game so far. It'd be great to steal this one with such a bad start and no Pav. Anyone who hasn't noticed a major difference in the team's game with him out is surely blind.

I didn't upload it. Found it on another site.

What a coincidence... me too!

One of my dad's employees recently kicked the bottle in two days! I'm a bit of a burgeoning alcoholic myself, so I like to believe anything is possible in terms of quitting. Ya know, for my own personal health and such.

Indeed. The Wings won't lose many games when giving up 2 goals per.
-
He was obscene in his few NHL games this year. Didn't he score at least a point per game? How is this remotely a bad thing?
-
I, for one, heartily enjoy his goal celebrations. Sammy's patented skate on one leg, point at the crowd, and fist pump move is highly underrated.

This thread is about NBC.

For this to occur, their series would have to have game one on NBC. Unfortunately for this scenario, none of the Penguins-Hurricanes games are slated to be on NBC.

This reminds me of last year. You always make great videos. Thanks for the hard work!

Shame there won't be 3 original six in the final four teams. Boston's a bit too young at this point, though and the Canes have more experience than most media people seem to talk about. I'm torn about which team in that series to like less .. an NHL team in North Carolina or a professional sports team in Boston?
-
At this point the front-runner would probably be Crosby. I have a question though. How is it that he scores so many goals from the EXACT same spot on the ice? He's always at the front of the net on the goalie's left side for almost every goal. How is it that NHL defensemen don't notice this and haven't made an adjustment? It's uncanny.

GDT 2009 WCSF GAME 7: Ducks 3 at Red Wings 4
David replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in Hall of Fame
Again, Datsyuk didn't score a goal but he was absolutely key to this game. He was a force on that early 5-3: Took the puck into the offensive zone, got a shot on net, got taken to the ice, but came back to put pressure on in the defensive zone (if I remember, he took the puck away and got a clear). Also killed 15-20 seconds in the offensive zone on the 2nd 5-3. Marchant did a great job taking away his ability to make plays and get good shots away, but Pavel stayed determined and worked hard throughout the series.- 1,913 replies

Great game last night. Way to represent RWNW. Hello, page 100.

I agree with a lot of your post; but I think many people here are being over-critical. Sometimes the definition of being "most valuable" means not hurting your team when you're unable to contribute otherwise. In that respect, I feel Zetterberg has been pretty bad in this series. I know he wants the matchup against Perry, Getzlaf, et al. but he hasn't been able to stop them at all. And he hasn't exactly contributed to the offense against that line. Anyone who knows about the Ducks knew that going into this series. That line for the Ducks was the only legitimate threat to Detroit - and they've capitalized every single game. Many people underestimate the stifling defense the Ducks can put up against a top line (like Datsyuk's). Even the best players in the world can be stopped by the right combination of personnel on the other side of the puck. Just look at Malkin in the Pitt-Washington series until game 4. Malkin (a -3 in the series until game 4) was more of a liability to his team than Datsyuk (a -1 with an assist in this series). Also, was anyone watching the first 10 minutes of game 1? I'm still amazed Datsyuk wasn't rewarded with a point. He was EVERYWHERE, as he has been for the majority of this series. He consistently makes barely noticeable plays that would result in a goal if it weren't for the opposing teams' goalie standing on his head.
-
For anyone who's trying to say Datsyuk is sucking or not playing up to par: Are you watching the same games as the rest of us? He's up against perhaps the stingiest defense in the league and he's not being counter-productive. He hasn't put up crazy numbers, but he isn't getting scored on left and right. What's wrong with you people? He's still making amazing, hard to notice plays - perhaps that's why so many people who don't pay close enough attention are ragging on him - and he's not in the least bit a liability. As many of us say around here all year: There's more to hockey than putting up goals and assists. He's not backing down to intimidation and he's holding his own. It doesn't really matter whether or not he gets a 2nd assist or a goal if the team wins and he does his part as far as keeping the team in the game. Get over your absurd "He's not putting up points; he sucks" garbage and really watch what's going on.
-
Exactly. He does this very often, especially when carrying the puck behind the net and coming to the front with it. Where's this observationist been all year?
-
Oh, I know that. I just don't see a lot of players doing 360's with their head at all times. I doubt Hudler was aware he was there because Brown came out of nowhere - unless Hudler was swiveling constantly.
-
I don't get this angle. He looked to see where his pass was going a split second after releasing it, then turned his head to either go for a change or to look in the direction he was going to go. Even with his "head up," he wouldn't have been able to see Brown (who was coming from an angle behind and to his side) until Brown was on top of him - which he did see, anyway. I haven't really seen a replay that shows whether he hit Hudler with his stick, elbow, or shoulder, though the Versus replays looked most like it was a stick. On Carlyle's running goaltenders comments: This is just silly posturing that coaches always do. Osgood got run over at least as much as Hiller (see: last 48 seconds of 3rd period). On Franzen's goal, his momentum was carrying him towards the goalie and by the time he let his shot go, he had nowhere to go but into the goalie. The same type of play occurred in Boston v Carolina on Carolina's only goal, Carolina's "run" was more spectacular.
-
Sheesh, I turn the game off for 5 minutes and this happens?
-
Our fans, like our team, lack enforcerers.

Sharks should try to integrate more eggs into their practices. Ok, I haven't been paying much attention to their passing, but Mighty Ducks references are always appropriate.

Unfortunate that such a boneheaded play was made for CBJ, but too many men is about as cut and dry as penalties come. Definitely the hardest-fought game of the series. Don't like to see that many goals against, but all but one or maybe two (I think just one, can't remember back to some of the earlier goals) were pretty unstoppable. Jackets won a ton of board battles and had a pretty lopsided lead in faceoffs until late in the 3rd. Good battle. Good for the team to get some rest and start studying up on the Ducks or Canucks.
