As I said, People kept telling me that these types of comments are unfair when made about Howard, so I'm just a little confused that now all of these comments about Mrazek are fine. Either it's OK to say something about the goalie's play or not, regardless of who it is. Either you can make general decisions based on only 4 games, or you can't. Doesn't matter if they are well played or poorly played.

You mean I decided that he can't play the puck over the course of 5 seasons?? Is that what you're talking about? 2 games =/= 5 seasons. And no, he wasn't giving up 4 goals every game before that.

Sorry, I've been getting a lot of s*** around here lately for my opinions on Petr and Jimmy. After his first 3 starts and posting .962, .926, and .944 SV% and only allowing 5 goals over 3 games, I was told that you can't make a proper assessment with such a small sample of games. The next four games were pretty rough for him (no one would deny that, myself included) and a number of people had no problem making an assessment of his game seemingly using only those 4 games to do so. I've also been told multiple times that you can't use only Goals Against and SV% and other stats to make an assessment of goalies (particularly last season when Howard was ranked so low) because those are team stats and the goalie isn't totally responsible for that, which I agree with to some extent. But now most a lot of the criticism of Petr that I read is that his goals against and save percentage have been pretty bad the past four games. So which is it?? Are those stats useless or not? Is 4 games enough of a sample size or not? P.S. There have also been a number of blanket statements made about opinions on the forum, where a couple of people say something and someone will come back a couple of days later and go, "Oh, everybody wanted to trade Howard a couple of games ago, now everybody wants to trade Mrazek!!! HAHA WTF LGW is REDIC!!" which is a ridiculous thing to say when there are like 100 or more people that regularly post a and all have their own opinions about things. (Well, maybe most of them have their own opinions...) And I'm getting really sick of people putting words in other people's mouths (mostly it's exaggerating what was said to the extreme or reading way into satements instead of just reading what was written) and then arguing with someone about something they never said in the first place. So I thought I'd get in on the fun

That looked like an honest interference call to me. Maybe that gets let go most of the time, but... And the goal was poor defense + wide open guys + Mrazek getting screened by his own guy.

Sorry, I had my Into Physics lab last night Who are you talking about? Because I don't recall anyone saying Mrazek doesn't haven't any flaws. If you're going to compare Howard vs Mrazek you have to consider that one is a 23 year old third string rookie and the other is a 31 year old who's been starting in the NHL for 5 seasons. Right, because a couple of bad games and no other considerations whatsoever are how I've been making decisions I think he could use a night off, but I don't know if having him sitting around thinking about how bad it's been going is going to help. However if he plays and it continues like this it won't help either.

I don't know about 8 years away. I read an article where somebody had crunched a bunch of numbers and found that (mind you this was about skaters offensive production, but) most players peaked at about 27-28-29 years old. Their performance (production) was only about 80% peak around 22-23 years old, growing steadily up till their peak (100%). It was interesting to see how quickly production fell off after that. They had a year or two at about 70-80%, then it quickly dropped down to like 40% and dwindling. I'll see if I can find it later. I know I posted a link to it last winter. I think it was in a franzen thread, or maybe a 'kids' thread. EDIT: I found these. Well I won't lie thats true for the most part and I'll admit I'm guilty of it at times. But it does seem like if you like Howard you'll do the same thing. Like if goals are scored against Mrazek that were due to defensive breakdowns and bad giveaways someone will post something like... Oh wait....

Really? cuz I've been getting a few "U mad bro" comments my direction lately after posting lengthy arguments. So I guess those comments just people's way of saying they don't have an argument in return.

I am so sorry guys. I just got back from my chem lab, looked and my phone to see it was 4-1. Came here and now this....

And to clarify even more, when I asked if anybody misses Howard right now, it was only in the sense that the wings were 3-0 (now 4-0) since he went down and have been playing really well minus the that one period. Not that they don't miss him in the sense they'll just give him the boot because of a couple week injury. And this whole situation is only because we have a goalie like Mrazek next in line. Believe me, if we didn't have him and our next prospect was McCollum, then no way would I suggest that Howard shouldn't be the guy for the remainder of his contract and probably beyond that. Edit: I could also ask right now, Does anyone really miss Franzen? Becuase the team seems to be fine without him. It's the same thing.
