Is it against the rules to pull the goalie during the shootout?

Ideally we wouln't be going into shootouts because we already won, but that just isn't realistic. Every team ends up in shootous every now and then and you have to perform when you do. Like I said, BJ's were in the exact same postion the Wings were in.... Didn't the BJ's win most of their recent games in the shootout? Why? Because their goalie is stopping the other team. Even if the Wings scored 2 outta 3 every shootout, Howard isn't going to be able to stop 2 outta 3. And even if he does (the shooters and howard both go 2/3), it keeps going. He proabably isn't going to keep it up in extra rounds.

Bobrovski and their defense also gave up 0 goals in 65 min. They were in the same position the Wings were, yet they managed to win the game. Did you see the stats before the shootout began. Howard 9 goals on 12 Shots. Bobrovski 2 goals on 14 shots. I get that not scoring doesn't help win the game, but it doesn't have any effect on the goalie saving a shot at the opposite end (and of course a goalie not making saves at one end doesn't have any effect on the shooters at the other end).

First of all I've never been hoping that he sucks. it just happens that I don't give him a pass when he does. Second, that was when I realized that there is no point in coming to a discussion board if you can't have a discussion without people people throwing a fit and the mods overly policing what can and can't be talked about.

I have a life outside of a hockey forum. And I don't have personal code of having to go into and read every post of every thread and then give my opinion, regardless of whether or not I actually care or want to talk about the subject. So no, I haven't.

Thank you. You're the first person to actually answer me after asking 5 or so times. And you made good points, too! I guess it wasn't defined, but I didn't think it really needed to be. Although that could have been discussed if anybody had actually wanted to. But it quickly got outta hand with people taking what was supposed to be a humorous look at some of his stats (e.g. games north of the mason-dixon line whose home team doesn't play in a dome) as well as a look at his ranking for 'real' stats that were atrocious last year, and taking it way to ******* seriously because apparently Howard has a persecution complex (or at least his fans do).

I've still been waiting for someone to explain to me how it's totally acceptable to call out Ericsson for a giveaway that led to a goal, but if anybody brings up Howard doing the same thing they're just a "hater/basher". I'm pretty sure it was the same game too. Ericsson in the 1st period, Howie later in the same game. I know, hey? We call putting down a dog the 'humane' thing to do (humane coming from human). And yet you can't do it for an actual human because it's somehow not 'humane'. Everybody is going to die someday, there is no getting around it. If you ask most people how they would like to go, I'd bet most people would say "Peacefully in my sleep at home with my loved ones around." Probably not "Slowly deteriorating for months on end and then finally with a seizure or stroke on the floor while my family panics and suffers." I'm gonna leave out the negative religious aspect of this here but if on the off chance anybody wants to discuss that in relation to this PM me.

I totally agree. But people tend to think that I'm a "hater" cuz I talk about his numbers when he isn't playing well (which was frequent recently i.e. last year, maybe year before) Just wanted to give him the credit he deserves for his good numbers and our good record so far. I haven't been here much and I have't been able to watch many games either, but I'm gonna assume you're joking (because wanting to keep track of an important position is all a big joke)

I've been really impressed with the way the season has played out so far this season, hopefully they are all up to a game against BUF. Howard is playing well too. Just checked his stats and he's ranked 11th in SV% (.929) and 9th in GAA (1.97). That's a far cry from last year when he was ranked in the 30s-40s area. That's gotta help alot and credit where credit is due!! (If only there was a thread to discuss his stats)

I see people are still up in arms about keeping track of someone's giveaways.... I suppose that doesn't count as a takeaway that led to a goal either, hey? I swear I'm not always as negative as I might come off around this place. But I'm a realist, and I'm with Playmaker on this one. I mean he is 86! I think anybody would be lucky live that long even without the wear and tear of a (extremely long) hockey career. It's not like he's 50 and it's a huge shock to his family and they weren't ready for the end. They've know this was coming for a while and and they've all gotten to spend time with him. I personally think it's extremely selfish to force someone to live in anguish for months on end just because the people around you are can't accept it and are desperately trying to delay the inevitable. Not to mention it puts the everybody in the position of 'waiting around for you to die' and that's some tough s*** to go to bed and wake up with every morning for possibly months on end. I'm sure most of his family is there now. I know it sucks, but nobody can live forever. Just make sure he's comfortable and if it's time, it's time.

I don't know. He might have 1 or he might have 100. Its all just sooooo subjective. I'll leave it to Jeremy Ronick, Mike Milbury and the rest of the experts to tell me.

I understand it wouldn't work in all cases and I guess I'm fine to remove them when it's descended into nothing but insults (like you can't even make a point to include with your insults!). For example: If you had a lines thread, and then it turned into what line abdelkader should play on, and then it turned into a discussion about only abdelkader and what he would bring to each line, and then it goes to just abdelkader stats and intangibles..... Well at some point you could just split it into two threads. People who want to keep talking about abdelkader can do so in the new thread and people that want to talk about the rest of the lines can continue in the old thread. EDIT: Maybe abdelkader example is something you might just let go. If it's some polarizing topic at the moment that keeps getting brought into discussions (like Cleary or Howard or Holland) that people are getting sick of, then split it up and remind people that they don't have to go into the new thread if they don't want to discuss the topic
