gdt 3/25 GDT - Red Wings 2 at Blue Jackets 4

I usually think: "After a win, props to the players, but management has made some questionable decisions lately." "After a loss, players didn't execute, and management has made some questionable decisions lately." EDIT: Probably should have said *some players in both instances -

Team Putin....unbelievable (I guess you no longer have any respect or pride for you're own country or ideals based who the current president is, hey? You just threw it all out the window and renounced your citizenship?) And again with the paychecks, get over it dude. Datsyuk is by far our best player and he deserves Respect. Lidstrom played in the Olympics. Yzerman played in the Olympics through pain (2002), missed the rest of the regular season, then came back and helped us win a cup. I guess those guys douchbags too, hey? Yeah f*** Steve Yzerman, that guy has a long history of continuously put himself before the Wings! And worse, his attitude rubbed off on our current players! -

Again, he could have just left after the season. You sound like a little kid whose toy broke, so now you demand your parents break your siblings toy to make it "fair". Answer this for me: Dats for 2 months now or Dats for 3 more seasons, but will miss a month now? -

Yeah he did sign on for both. The point is he didn't HAVE to. He chose to stay because the Wings give him the respect that he deserves and let him captain his olympic team in his home country. If they hadn't done that he might have decided to play in them anyway and not resign. -

Yeah, he would be out. HE HAD A ******* DISC LODGED IN HIS ******* NERVE!!! You have to have surgery at that point, sitting at home for three weeks won't heal that! Datsyuk on the team for 2 more months OR Datsyuk on the team for 3 more seasons. You're saying you'd rather have him for only 2 months rather than 3 seasons?? -

Dude, they went to the Olympics. It's over. Zetterberg would be out right now regardless Datsyuk could have been done playing for the Wings for good after this year so he could play in his home country and spend more time with his family, but instead he "selfishly" (as you claim) signed on with us for another 3 ******* years. Get over it! -
Or you guys could both be right....(or both be wrong) He may have kept us in the game AND missed another timely save

CLUTCH!!!!
-
Can't blame Howie on that one, not his fault it wasn't shot directly into his glove...
-
Guy shot it right where his blocker was going to be, he doesn't get credit for that
-
He's clearly a career 3rd liner, how can you not see that? *wink*
-
True, true. I wasn't trying to say he did it on purpose. It's just it sounds like people want preferential treatment for the Wings, and not consistency league-wide like you would think.
-
Exactly. If you guys don't want that happening to our goalie, then you can't get pissed when we get called for doing it to the other team. That's called being a hypocrite. NYQUIST!
-
Can't give Howard credit for that save, the guy shot it right into his arm. That's not his fault!! (reverse of the "not his fault, it's the defense argument" for you guys who don't get it. ) But seriously that was a nice save!!
-
Telling this team to end the game early might not be such a good idea

What the Fuchs?

His win/loss stat was even worse about a month ago. He has been better that past few games, I'll give him that. But his confidence issues shouldn't be affected by outside factors, only on his own on ice performances. He just isn't mentally tough enough for these rough patches. Being in a playoff push can only happen when your team is anywhere between 14th and 25th place, so for at least part of the season there were problems losing games. That's obviously not ALL on Howard, but this season I think he gets a good portion of the blame for us being in the position we are currently in (exactly how much is up for debate )

35th in GAA 31st in SV% not great haha I always try to use "replacement word/words" in these situations. "If a Wing had scored that 1st goal on another goalie, would I think that goalie sucks cuz he didn't stop it? Or would I think that it was just a really nice shot by a talented Red Wing?" "If the Wings scored a weak goal on a goalie, would I think that goal was due to a lucky shot, lucky bounce, or poor defense? Or would I think that their goalie misplayed it." I wouldn't want to get rid of Howard because of one bad season. I would, however, want to get rid of him after 1.5 bad seasons (maybe 2, but I doubt it haha) AND due to his other severely lacking aspects of hockey playing ability. (or at the very least start exploring your options) I would give him more time if these other aspects weren't as much of an issue but I don't see him making any improvements in those areas.

He did play well this past week and I don't think that first goal was as bad as some. (See, I'll give him credit when he deserves it!!) Among active goalies who have played more than 10 games, Howard is: 40th in GAA & 37th in SV% His numbers from previous seasons don't guarantee he'll continue to be a top 10. His numbers from this season don't guarantee he'll continue to be a mid 40 goalie. But you can't take only one piece of info, then ignore the rest and try to assert something based on that. I'll just quote myself haha
-
It is blind praise when there are constant excuses when things are bad for him, and when he's playing well he's the greatest goalie and somehow ALL the bad things he does are ignored. I'm sure there are, but to get to that point you have to think "OK, if he wasn't playing for the Wings, would I think he's an above average goalie? Would I want him on my team?" Then you take a critical look at his game. It seems most "Howard Supporters" are just that. Supporters. "I'm going to support Howard no matter what cuz he's on the Wings and I'm a fan of the Wings so I can't think bad thoughts about any aspect of his game or I won't be a true fan and anybody who doesn't support him 100% no matter shouldn't voice their concerns and opinions Y cant U jsut support him!!" If you're referencing people saying "he sucks" right after goal without any other thoughts or analysis going into that, then yeah they are just as guilty as people saying "Average Save There, Hey Guys!!" after he makes one nice save and not putting any other thoughts or analysis into it. It's the same thing. Selecting only the instances that confirm your theory and ignoring all the instances that don't isn't going to get you to an informed, rational position, whatever that position is. If I selected only his greatest moments he would seem like a great, above average NHL goalie. If I selected only his weakest moments he would seem like a s***ty, below average NHL goalie. If I look at ALL his work, then and only then could you make a determination on how well he actually plays. That's all I'm advocating. I don't care where you fall once you've done that.

Man that Babs interview was funny. "I thought it was the 80's when I saw him come back to the bench after that!"
-
Yes, screw the people who take an honest rational look at his play and voice their concerns. The world needs less rational people and could use a few more who blindly praise people based on selecting only the info that supports them and ignoring the info that contradicts their presuppositions.
-
Doesn't matter. People posting on the internet has no effect on whether Howard is Below, Above, or Equal to being an average goalie. It's his on ice play that determines that. And if people are saying he sucks after one bad goal they too are ignoring half the information to make their remarks. But you made a sarcastic remark about him being average. (Which, again, he is when you look at ALL the information and not just the info that supports what you want)
-
Again, it is indeed possible for an average goalie to make nice, above average saves. He lets in A LOT of bad/poorly timed goals (in addition to his lack of puck playing ability and rebound control). And when you don't ignore half the information, we arrive at.....Howard Is AVERAGE!!! Amazing how that works hey?
