The thing that sucks the most is we only have a few more years of Dats & Z. Maybe 5 at most. We need to win at least one more Cup in that time. I know doom and gloom has been predicted for this franchise for years, but who knows if we've got/will get anybody to step in to these huge holes that will be left.

It's not so much HBO forcing awkward conversations on our guys, but more of our guys trying to do something for the cameras which turns out to be really awkward. i.e. frickin' Cleary talking to Siri about Datsyuk while hes right next to him.

Dude , there isn't a pre-writen script. They're not actors, they're hockey players who aren't used to their everyday conversations being filmed, which is why some of it seems awkward. And yes professional athletes and coaches are known to drop quite a few F bombs in the heat of the moment, I don't know why you're having such a hard time accepting that.

I don't really blame him for kicking out the cameras. The last thing he wants as a coach is his players getting called out for all the world to see, especially the young guys. Can't blame the HBO guys for trying to get their shots though.

First of all, you must have missed the first quarter of the season where Nyquist was playing in GR because Cleary was taking up a roster spot. So yeah, you must have been watching a different Red Wings team than the rest of us. Second, the "eye-ball" test is only one of two things you can judge a player by (in terms of actual on ice play, this excludes things like leadership and locker room qualities), the other being stats. His stats are pretty abysmal. Looking at his play reveals and abundance of falling down, chipping the puck up/down the boards (no puck possession play; the other team almost always ends up with the puck), and a very occasional weak shot on goal. He's just not very good anymore. And I want to clear something up. I don't think anybody hates Dan Cleary as a person. What we hate is his current (can't stress that enough) hockey playing ability.
