TSN says that Quincey was put on waivers today. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?fid=11009 Edited to add: Red Wings Live just confirmed, saying that we need to have space in case a goalie is hurt.

Every one has some great ideas. I am totally on board with this idea. Hank and Pav could live to gether or the whole team I would love it either way. If they don't want to do it during the season everyone could stay at Dallas Drake's house during training camp. That would be a good bonding experience for the team. I am going to see if I can find an adress for FSN Detroit and suggest the idea to them.

There are a couple on the free press site, I linked one below none of them are great but this one is kind of close up. Number nine is of his head bent and you can kind of see a good portion of both sides. 10 and 11 also both show his helmet some. Try the Detroit News too, I put the Red Wings galleries as the second link, I would check the training camp pictures I opened The Red Wings Open Training Camp and he was the first one. That's the only training camp photo I looked at so you could check through that one and some of the others. These photos are all of his new helmet with the retired numbers on it. If you are looking for one of his old one with the octopus try Red Wings Continue practice before training camp on the detroit news site. I have never found a really good close up photo of either of them. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/gallery...Params=Itemnr=2 http://info.detnews.com/redesign/multimedi...allery=redwings

I saw that too a few days ago, and thought I was crazy, and it must be someone else. But when I saw your thread it clicked that Zetterberg's first season was 02-03, so when they went after the summer I guess he got to go along too.

Does anyone know if Downey and Helm get to go along with the team? I believe I read the team is traveling to DC after they play Carolina and that Hasek is going along to Carolina then to DC.

10/11 GDT: Grand Rapids Griffins @ Lake Erie Monsters

Griffins scored in the first minute. Jesse Boulerice (who Downey knocked out with one punch when he was playing with Dallas, and I think Boulerice was in Carolina)is playing with the Lake Erie Monsters, and Downey is in for Grand Rapids tonight, so it should be pretty interesting. -

I'm excited for the Griffins season to start and plan to follow the game tonight on the computer while I watch the Wings. I expect them to be pretty good as long as the Wings are staying healthy. My friends and I have 10 tickets to opening night in Grand Rapids on the 25th, I really recommend going to anyone in the area, front row seats are $25, its a lot of fun. -
Go to the link below, then click on Red Wings goalie Chris Osgood's shack. There are a few pictures of it, its not the whole thing but they do show the table top. http://info.detnews.com/redesign/multimedi...allery=redwings

I have read the Bruise Brothers book, What it Means to be a Red Wing, and Blood Fued, and I enjoyed all of them. I also have Heros of Hockeytown but I did not find that to be as good as What it Means to be a Red Wing, and I have not read the whole thing like I did with What it Means to be a Red Wing. What it Means to be a Red Wing has short stories from players from the 50's all the way to the present (no yzerman or howe)Chelios, Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lindsay, Delvecchio and many others about their time as a Red Wing. Heros of Hockeytown has a page of discription about players, but it's more from the author's perspective rather than the player's perspectives. The Red Wings have a book about Yzerman called 19 and there is a book about Howe called 9, I have not read either but as a Wings fan I plan to purchase both at some point. I think that the Yzerman book you can only get from the Red Wings I put the link below. I also have heard that Why is the Stanley Cup in Mario Lemieux's swimming pool is pretty entertaining. http://redwings.nhl.com/team/app/?service=...int_article_150

Comin from Hamilton for season opener..few questions

The pre game ceremony starts at 7 according to mlive, and the doors to the Joe open at 5. http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2008/10/if...ursdays_ga.html -
The thread at the bottom has some pretty good information about hotels, and about a few other things to do in the Detroit area. I don't live near Detroit, but I have been to several games, I will try to help but I always have gone and come home in the same day, so for the most part I go to whatever sports event I am going to and come home. I think that June is when you will need a passport to get into Canada but it may be January. The tunnel to Canada is close to the Joe, and it takes you into Windsor. You will need to have some ID in addition to your drivers license to get into Canada, like your birth certificate. If you are looking for Wings gear I suggest visiting Hockeytown Authentics, it's maybe twenty minutes away from the Joe. If you are going to a couple games I would suggest going to one game, then going to Hockeytown Authentics, the prices seem to be identical, but they do have some different things at each place, Then you will have an idea of what you want if you are on a budget. Since you will be going after baseball season Hockeytown Authentics should have quite a bit more Wings stuff, than during the summer when they have a good share of Tigers stuff. The Joe seems to have different apparal than Hockeytown Authentics, but Hockeytown seems to have more signed stuff, and a larger selection of player's jerseys, and more player specific shirts. On the same road as Hockeytown Authentics is Somerset Mall, which has quite a lot of stores in it. To eat there is Cheli's Chili and Hockeytown Cafe. The both are ten minutes at the most away from the Joe. The both offer a shuttle to the Joe if you don't want to drive. All three times I have been to Cheli's he has been there, it's been when I have been to Detroit for other things on days when the wings were not playing, like for the open practice and a tigers game, but if you are interested in meeting him I have heard that he often heads to the one downtown after the games. I have also heard a lot about the food at Greektown, but I have never been there myself. I don't know where you are coming from, or how long you are staying but the Griffins games are a lot of fun, and front row seats are $25, and you should be able to get them the day of the game. I think its about 2 1/2 hours from Detroit to Grand Rapids. I always like to point out this option because I like to see the young guys play, and it is a lot cheaper. http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=53299

He has a tight groin and won't be playing tonight. Quick update from Joe Louis Arena: Pavel Datsyuk (groin) and Tomas Holmstrom (knee) are expected to be in the lineup tonight against the Sabres, but Marian Hossa won't play because of a groin injury. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article...5/81005030/1053

I was watching the feed of the game, I am pretty sure they said he had sore muscles, so he wasn't going to play for the rest of the game.

The second link has been working for me but then they switched it to soccer after the period. It looks like its back now though. -
I know he is sitting on a board to help choose the new Hockey Night in Canada Song. Somewhere someone mentioned that they thought that's where he is at. He didn't play two nights ago either with his line.
-
It has aired several times this summer alone, I'm not sure when it orignially aired. I have it recorded to my tv along with the spotlights on chelios, lidstrom, datsyuk, zetterberg, and yzerman, I searched and searched for the Zetterberg one online because I caught the last three minutes of it. I was unsuccessful in finding it. If my brother knows how to get it from the tv to the computer I will try to figure out how to post it onto youtube, he wont be home until late but I will ask him.

Rafalski played last night with Kronwall, and Lidstrom was ready to play tonight so I guess Rafalski and Kronwall get the night off and Lidstrom and Stuart play instead. To begin with Rafalski and Lidstrom were playing with one group and Kronwall and Stuart were playing with the other group. Datsyuk still has a sore groin.

These are the lines they were using yesterday morning. Check the site in a couple hours and it probably will tell you who is going to play. His nose is broken, and he will miss at least the next three games. Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom has a broken nose and will miss at least the next three preseason games, coach Mike Babcock said after practice Thursday. Lidstrom was hit with a deflected puck above his right eye early in the third period of Wednesday's exhibition opener against Montreal. He was taken to the hospital for stitches and X-rays. There was no damage to the eye. "He's got a broken nose, but everything (else) is fine,'' Babcock said. "He didn't come to the rink today. He'll be back here tomorrow (for practice).'' http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...nose_out_n.html
