Another forum I post on seems to be hosted on an old 386. This is irritating, especially considering that many members pay for "premium" features.

    Jarnkrok (2nd pick, 51st overall)

Simple. Look at style of play. While physical fitness and endurance are vital, the European style is a bit less physical. Less hitting means you don't need as much muscle to actually hit with. Am I the only one who hears "Jarnkrok" in the voice of the announcer in Mortal Kombat?

    Jarnkrok (2nd pick, 51st overall)

Strength training. The NHL and AHL value physical strength more highly than does the SEL, KHL or other European leagues, so bulking up a bit is a useful thing.

1st Round Pick (21), Riley Sheahan

Get to, sure, but... What's the LGW battle cry for Williams? Lazy and sucks? Ton of talent, no work ethic?

Bjugstad or Watson look perfect. Some size, speed, soft hands.

    2010 NHL Draft Thread

From the current mocks: Teemu Pulkkinen, Jokerit, Finnish SM-Liga. 5'11", 176#, LW. 15 points in 6 games at 2009 U18 World's, 13 points in 8 games in 2008 U18 World's. No HF analysis, extensive surgical history. Vladimir Tarasenko, HC Sibir, KHL. 6'0", 191#, C. 24 points in 42 games this season with HC Sibir, 5 points in 6 games at the WJC. Hockey's Future analysis- An all-around forward, Tarasenko is a gifted, capable offensive player with good commitment in the defensive zone. He’s not a physical or a defensive player, but he has an uncommon will to get back to protect the zone, to get down to block shots and this kind of “dirty job” that is very valuable in the more demanding North American game. But he’s mostly an offensive talent and he showcased his skills in the latest two KHL seasons. He has great numbers for an 18-year-old, scoring 13 goals and 24 points (the same exact amount scored by Ovechkin in his draft year, but playing 10 games fewer) during this season, constantly playing in the team’s top six. Nick Bjugstad, University of Minnesota, CCHA. 6'5", 190#, C. Minnesota's Mr. Hockey for 2009, 60 points in 25 games as a HS Senior. Committed to the University of Minnesota. Hockey's Future analysis- Bjugstad possesses great potential as a high-level power forward. He has the size, skill, and speed to be an effective offensive player at the pro level. Austin Watson, Peterboro Petes, OHL. 6'3", 187#, RW. 34 points in 42 games for the Windsor Spitfires, 20 points in 10 games for the Petes. Hockey's Future analysis- Watson is two-way talent who is not afraid to sacrifice his body to make a play. he is a heart-and-soul forward that any NHL team would love to have on the roster. Watson isn't just a plugger, though, as he has some offensive skill in his arsenal.

    Evgeni Ryasenski

It's very true. Boxing is the same way. Heavyweights get all the attention, but I can hit harder now as a cruiserweight (heavy middleweight) than I ever did. It's not all size, but also technique.

    Pavel wins Selke #3!

Granted, it's only ESPN, but we at least get one PavelSpeechTM tonight! Great work, Mr. Datysuk!
  14. You're insane, right? Byfuglien- 17 goals, 17 assists, 34 points in regular season, 11 goals, 5 assists, 16 points in playoffs. Eager- 7 goals, 9 assists, 16 points in regular season, 1 goal, 2 assists, 3 points in playoffs. Fraser- 7 goals, 12 assists, 19 points in regular season, 0 points in playoffs. Sopel- 1 goal, 7 assists, 8 points in regular season, 1 goal, 5 assists, 6 points in playoffs 77 points in the regular season, 25 in playoffs. Coming in they have Reasoner, 17 points. They're down 60 points, and minimal cap relief. Sure, their first two lines are intact, but lines 3 and 4 are going to be scrubs.

Dusk. Better colors and better photography. Aqua Velva or Bay Rum?
  24. Lidstrom-Kronwall would be insane. Kronners seriously has the potential to be a superb defenseman, and is on his way there. Just look at the numbers- continuous improvement, save last year where he was injury-limited. He's improved markedly since even the '08 season.
  25. This team sucked? SUCKED? Let's review. Starting a true rookie goaltender who pulls off a record of 37-15-10, with GAA of 2.26, 0.924 save percentage. Over 300 games lost due to injury, including Franzen, Zetterberg and Filppula getting long stretches out. Despite losing a massive amount of scoring to free agency and injuries, they still made the playoffs and won round 1. There's 22 teams in the league who would kill for that shot at the second round. 14 would have loved a shot at the first. Room for improvement, sure. Sucked? Not a chance in hell.
