He could have had the big payday in Pittsburgh, and a shot at the Cup. He took less money to come here. He could have had giant money in Edmonton (I think $10M was on the table), and took a $3M pay cut for Detroit. They'll find a way. Oh, by the way... wingsdiehard13? Hossa's 30, not 35.

I'd be willing to bet you see Hossa take a big-league cut to play for Detroit. $4M or so sounds right, based off his statements that he doesn't care about the cash, but the winning.

I'll bet you're more right than you know. Most coaches will say that no player is sacrosanct. Anyone could lose their slot at any time. While you're not going to sit Hossa, Dats, Z or Franzen in favor of Leino or Applicator, there is still one stick- ice time. -

This was the game I was most worried about losing. 8 days off for us + an emotional series for ANA = heart attack for me. Thankfully, signature updated. I feel much better about the next game.

That he's been able to skate is great news. As for the bleed, if they're letting him take any physical activity at all, it's stopped and should be most of the way healed-just a matter of the body takking up the excess. It shouldn't limit his play when he comes back- it's similar to what Franzen had.

I concur! I was at game 2 of the Columbus series, and the place was jumping. It was incredible to see.
