Simple, from the derivation... Eriksson would be simply a contraction of Erik's son. Pretty common in Scandinavian countries to have patronymics, and exclusively those in Iceland- son of Erik would be Eriksson, daughter of Erik would be Eriksdottir, with the o having an umlaut.

Leino looks a good bit like Zetterberg and Datsyuk mixed together. If he progresses the way I'll bet he will, he's going to be a star. I've heard very good things about Ericsson, as well- favorable comparisons to a Jiri Fischer, for example. Big, hits, good shooting touch.

Burn me as a heretic if you like, but I wouldn't even take a straight Osgood-Luongo trade. Luongo is pretty streaky and has no real playoff experience.

Ditch Howard, sign Conk, maybe go looking for a FA goalie to supplement or replace Ozzie next year.

I'm not blaming all 4 on Howard, but seriously, he's playing like crap. Poor rebound control, poor positioning. He should have had 2 or 3 of the ones that got by. Call up Larsson. Howard's had his chances in the Wheel the last few seasons, and simply doesn't have it at the NHL level.

Point given. Conks would still be in the conversation, sitting at 2.33, but Osgood's way off the ball- last season was around a 2.07 and this year at 3.2.

I agreed until you said that. Conklin's playing as well as either Hasek or Osgood was last year, even discounting the smaller pads. Conk is sitting at 91.1 save percentage, when Oz had a 91.4 and Dom a 90.2. Ozzie's play has slid, but our "backup" goalie is as good as either of last year's.

I'm not a fan of this deal. I like having Sammy-Huds-Helm as an energy line, and it's done some good things. Considering all three have Cup experience, that could be crucial.
