It's a bit of a stretch mentioning Rolex. That's a $5K watch for maybe $10, about the equivalent of getting your jersey for a buck. Closer would be like buying a kit-car version of a Shelby Cobra and complaining that it wasn't baptized with Shelby chili back in 1966.

Definitely a shutout for Mason. He's a brick wall of impenetrability.

The only move I would make is re-signing Hank and Franzen, along with Hudler. Hossa can go after the season if that's what it takes to keep those 3. I might countenance trading Lebda, but not much else.

A little shaky in the first, but they settled in and played lights-out after that. I'm satisfied. -

I'd quibble a bit on Howard getting anything more than a backup. He's had his chances, and has never really distinguished himself. He's a career backup in my mind, and Larsson/McCollum are both impressing me.

Honestly? Give me half a chance, and Hossa's a second-liner with Franzen and Filppula. The chemistry of the top 2 lines simply isn't there with him on the first.

Hossa has yet to really impress me. As it is, I'd rather have last year's team with Conklin instead of last year's with Conklin and Hossa.

In honesty, when I was at the Kings game, I knew about 30 seconds before the tying goal that it was going to be Hudler. He's been so insanely clutch this season that there aren't many Wings I'd rather have the puck when down 1 with little time left.

I wouldn't hang much for the 4 goals on Conks. On 2 of them, he was interfered with, one of them in particular very obviously. Thriller of a game, but if the officiating had been up to par, it would have been 5-6 to 2.

They looked like the defending Cup champions. Exceptionally good, in every aspect of the game. Luck had nothing to do with it.

I've an exam in pharmacology/pathology at 8am. We're supposed to get 6 inches of snow and half an inch of ice before then. I've been watching the Doppler radar like a hawk- it appears the ice may miss us, and I hope to God they're right. Otherwise, I'd be sleeping on campus tonight to make it to the exam.
