Well, he sure did phone home on Roberts last night...

It's like these same four people don't realize that the 5 mil not spent isn't money that's magically disappearing into some great void, but money that's being saved for the stockholders and can go towards the new arena, new paint in the visitor's locker room, a new toilet paper brand, whatever. Nevermind the fact that you don't just have to take a hit in your cap to bring in, but trade stuff away, too. Hmm.. I spend 5 extra mil, I trade away 2 draft picks and a potentially dangerous prospect. I win the cup. I save the 5 mil, I keep the picks and the prospect. I win the cup. Which is better for the team and stockholders?

Yzerman transcends mere mortal awards.

Where's the option for "Extra-terrestrial"? I'm not voting until that one is put up.

Seems everyone's been forgetting that we have Pain Train in the current lineup, should the need arise. And apparently Pasha can deck someone should the need arise. He's sorta like Captain Hockey. "Lady Byng! Selke! President's, Campbell, Stanley!" "By your powers combined, I am Captain Hockey!" *punches out evil villain Gary Roberts* Sorry if noone gets the reference XD

Officiating wasn't great, it had some inconsistencies, but with all that s*** that was flying around (especially later in the game) they caught a good amount from both sides. I'd be happy with better, but atleast they weren't making calls with bias/reputation, which is like 93298923391912391238 times better than last game.

I think Crosby has shown he's willing to take a cut, if necessary (and within reason) in order to lead a team and stay competitive. I think he's the genuine article, and he could be earning a bigger paycheck than he is right now. Perhaps its players exactly like Lids and Dats that have set an example for him in that regard. Malkin, on the other hand, seems more high on himself and seems very Yashin-esque in some aspects. I hope he proves me wrong but I'm not liking what I've been seeing.

Nomadic Stuart hopes to stick in Hockeytown
Datsyerberger replied to 10 Minute Misconduct's topic in General
I really hope the guy does stick around. He's holding the #4 D man position well and I'm convinced he'll take a reasonable amount of money for the chance to stick around with the team. The guy could very well be the #2 D-man on some teams in the league, but he's getting a good taste of what it's like to be an integral part of one of the most dedicated hockey teams in the league. Not only that, but I don't think there's too many young(ish) D-men that wouldn't appreciate the chance to learn from Lids and Raffy, not to mention having an excellent partner in Kronwall. I've seen him make some gaffes (hell, who doesn't?) but I don't think I've seen him take a shift off. He works. Hockeytown likes players that work. All in all, he's worth the money. -
Not my favorite player, but still... good kid taking bad example from a complete ****** of a coach, imo. Therrien? Yea, by all means, he should complain some about the officiating.. but his entire press conference shouldn't be relegated to that and calling the other team divers. As for players, way I see it, it's management's and individual victimized player's jobs to complain about officiating. The Captain should be up there "Yea, you know, we need to skate harder, capitalize on our chances, hit them solid and stay clean, put shots on net and make sure to wipe our asses with 2 ply" It's his job to look 1 notch above the rest and to set a good example for the team.. not first going after the officiating and every other possible external reason why the lost, instead focusing on how /they/ can improve. Maybe us Wings fan are a spoiled lot, but what can I say? The guy is 20 and has a god-awful example in MT.
-
Let's face it, guys, this isn't anything revolutionary. Therrien has a history of acting just like this and unfortunately I think he's having a bad influence on that Sidney Crosby (who?) kid, too. With any luck for him he'll either get a new team, or the Pens a better example of a coach. My personal judgement, after reading some of the Pens boards, is that they think MT tries hard, but he's widely disliked, particularly because of his inability and unwillingness to cope with tactical changes and his (lack of) ability to handle a losing game/series.

There's a pretty solid line between diving and selling a play. Someone brushing you with his stick or jersey as he brushes by (or worse, not touching you at all, a la Floppa) and you going sprawling and doing a half-spin/etc is a dive. As far as goaltenders go, it's in your best interesting to sell contact and interference committed against you. In the "new" NHL where it's much harder for your boys to do enforcing for you, you have to let the rules and the refs do the job. If you're in the crease or the trap and someone nails you, your only defense is to make sure the refs notice it. Where it becomes over embellishment is what the contact was like more than how hard you sell it. In Oz's case, he was nailed pretty square on the first time. The second time, he was shoulder rammed and looked like he honestly tripped over the netting, though by all means, he should have sold that. Especially after the player. Its not his fault for being a whiny embellisher, and stuff like that isn't what loses teams the game. Its the people that commit such blatant penalties in the first place that ruin it. As far the hit on Franzen.. well, hard to tell if he went down legit or not after that. Taking one in the face never really feels that good. Regardless.. if someone punches you in the shoulder or chest, you shrug it off, or drop the gloves with him, or just ignore it and hope the refs saw it. If someone punches you in the f***in face, you sell that s***, drop down and say "Hey refs! Look how much of a cowardly ****** canoe this guy is!" Again, not the fault of the embellisher at all, and it's not his sort thats "ruining" the game.. if anyone is, its the ones that commit blatant penalties away from or after the play.

Super Hudler's sidekick, Fly-pula
-
I think he needed time to settle in on the team and find his role and chemistry.. and it looks like he has. Bet he settles in here.
-
Datsyuk friggin decked him in one hit. That was unexpected and I damned near leaped out of my seat cheering at it XD

This is from the LetsGoPens board.. note that I haven't bothered to sign up there, I just lurk it. Name of the poster omitted to protect the less than innocent. "By understanding the position of goaltender and not staring at a statsheet...Osgood is the weakest link of that Detroit team...we should have had two on him already tonight on a couple plays that he was simply not a part of... Pucks to the net is the hard part, not so much beating Osgood...and that much is quite obvious." Thought you guys would enjoy that. To ThreeRiversFan and a couple of the other decent Pens fans here, I'm sorry. We have our idiots too, you know.
-
Great penalty by the Wings, once again COMPLETELY shutting the Pens down 5 on 5. Only SOGs for them on the PP, which the Wings killed well. And we start the 2nd with lots of PP time due to gooberism by Roberts, woot.
-
Glad to see Franzen is quickly getting back into his game. Also, Ozzie has been very solid.
-
Solid PP for us, no goal but a good effort. Eh, PK for us. Well, that one was obvious.
-
OMFG Y DINT U CAL IT OF U NOOB IDIETS U GUYS SUX I TOTLY MAEK DAT NO GOLE 4 WINGS!!11one!11!11eleven!111one
-
Just like yesterday, the only time Pittsburgh can get any real SOGs is on the PP.
-
HOMER! HAHAHAHA I'm sure smoke is pouring out of O'Halloran's ears as he waves his arms frantically, somewhere.
-
"I'm Sidney Crosby.. and I'm a whiny ****** canoe... on Versus" Note: Not intended with any seriousness, just good ol' friendly jabbing.
-
Unnecessary edit, I know. Made me laugh anyhow. Hopefully it does the same for someone else.
-
All the more crow for them to eat.. Anyhow, go Wings! Bleh, no CBC here in Florida. Bit of a tough signal to pick up

Oh bullocks, so much for fun. Who would have thought people were looking for fun out of a game? Those silly hockey fans.
