Yea, I saw that a coupla days ago. Don't think it was a language problem.. the guy admitted that it was more or less a novice fan mistake. Didn't make it any less funny, mind you.

Ozzie, if his current performance continues. Or Jiri Fischer. He's still part of the club and he helps train defensemen or something, doesn't he? It's sorta like the Vladdy case (Sorta) After Ozzie or Fischer, I'd say Drake to D-Mac, then Big Darren to Little Darren (rookie!), I imagine then the young rookie will give it to Pasha or Zata as a respect of leadership.. and obviously in that case it would go from one of them to the other. If Zata gets it second, he probably gives it to a fellow countryman next, maybe Franzen for his epic goal scoring. If Pasha gets it second.. hmm, that's a tougher call. Unpredictable bugger.. I'm sure opposing players would agree : ) I am willing to bet Fischer gets it somewhere along the line, though.

Lol, who voted Franzen sits? Some Pens fan?

Darn. I fail at resisting temptation.

Gee.. 6 years. The last Wings SCF appearance. Coincidence, of course. Noone likes watching Red Wings hockey, they're just so boring.. and all their fans are losers.

Dammit, I'm too busy posting about hockey stuff to post here!

That sounds like one of the questions they give you as a topic for writing a short essay in late elementary.

O'Hallaran - Default call is 'interference'?
Datsyerberger replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
Terrible call. Everyone makes mistakes in judgement calls, but O'Halloran does it just a bit too often. This was a really hard one to blow as well. Homer was outside of the crease, his stick was outside of the crease, if you watch the motion in the video, Fleury moved outside of the crease and into Homer's stick to play the puck. That's certainly not contact initiated by the player in the crease, nor is it anything more than incidental contact by the skater outside of the crease. Pure reputation call. This is the 21st century. Video replay should be available for all goal situations. Adding 5 extra minutes to a game that's already several hours long to ensure quality isn't going to make anyone's dog die. -
I'd like to see the video in question, but I'll say that no amount of talent makes one a better person. Guess I'll try to find a link somewhere. As for that goal.. eh.. I saw that call off coming the moment I saw the puck go in. It was one of those 'yep, here we go again' scenarios.

Franzen cleared to practice FULL OUT
Datsyerberger replied to 10 Minute Misconduct's topic in General
That. That 3rd line combination has had far too good of chemistry and kicked far too much ass to F with it now. Cleary has been playing a very solid two-way game, and defense on the 2nd line (more of which Franzen will add) in addition to goal scoring ability is exactly what we need to more easily be able to shut down the Pens offense. Two solid physical players, both of which can create havoc in front of the net and score goals, as well as play a steady defensive game, centered by a playmaker with a good transitional game. Most excellent. That leaves Hudler going back to the 4th line. Despite his solid performance, I don't have any issue with this and I don't think he will either. He seems to have good chemistry with Helm. Furthermore, with D-mac replaced, the 4th line is no longer the 'liability line'. You've got a rookie who's playing his heart out, can skate like hell and makes surprisingly few dumb mistakes, a scrappy little midget of a goal scoring forward that possibly our 4th line more scoring depth than any other 4th line in the NHL, and a seasoned veteran of a defensive forward, who is quite gritty and has a knack for drawing penalties from the other team. With Maltby/Helm/Hudler as the 4th line, I expect to see the 4th line getting more minutes (which of course lets our top guys get more rests), and I also expect it to come up big. One curious thing to think about is that our 4th line has one of our second shift PKers, and one of our second shift PP men. How often does that happen? -
Why does Sammy always seem to score twice when he does score? Is it just because he happens to have finally broken the chest/shin/other body part of the goaltender he's been aiming at, and all subsequent shots at that location therefore go in?

Given the relative weak defense and goaltending in the East (with a couple exceptions, as compared to Luongo, Nabokov, Giggy, Ozzie, Turco, Kipper, etc in the West) , do you think D&Z could put up the same or better point totals than Sid and Geno if they or the Wings (we can always dream) were in the East? I definitely think it's something worth considering, and if you consider that Dats and Z put up their current (top 6!) point totals against the top lines of the strong defensive teams in the West (and their aforementioned netminders), I think they're more even with the top scoring talent in the East than the numbers show. I also believe that the same could be said for Big Joe (atleast in the season) and Iggy.

...I'm so excited that we ******* won! /thread

We enforce with the scoreboard, and we're among the top in the league at that.

Kronwall is very worthy of consideration and I fear he's being overlooked too much. He leads our defensemen in points and his timely and strong hits have added a crucial edge of physicality to our games. Watching the guy is reminding me more and more of Vladdy every time I see him.. now all he needs to do is learn that beastly hip check and go hunt down Le Pew. Edit: That said, I think Z is more likely to win it than him. Nevermind the fact that forwards usually get more love when it comes to such awards, Z is possibly the only player that's been playing a more complete, solid, and important game than Kronwall. And given how impressive Kronner's play has been (mark my words, he's our future #1 D-Man), that's really saying something.

Okay, now that I've blown Ozzie a bit and pointed out why I think he's so @($*@(# awesome, Conn Smythe. That's a hard one, right now it's definitely either Ozzie or Z. I'm loathe to choose.. they've both been awesome, anyone that doesn't think Ozzie's been awesome is kidding themselves. Anyone that thinks Z hasn't been awesome is on some seriously bad drugs. I'd also love to see either of them win it. I have to say I'd REALLY like to see Ozzie get it though, he only has so many chances left for something like this, and on top of that goaltenders rarely get any love with this trophy. I think if he were to get it, it would finally shut some of his critics up. On the other hand, couldn't it be argued that Z and Pasha could and should be awarded every applicable trophy in existence as a singular entity?

I is prepared to catch all sorts of s*** for that edit, but he's one of the most winningest goalies of all time... and even managed to go greater than .500 on the god awful Islanders and Blues.. and put up .910+ save % in all but one season there, which isn't bad at all. Also, doesn't he have one of the highest win %s of all goalies ever? Granted, he's had some good Wings teams in front of him but I urge you to remember he's a PART of those teams. He's doesn't have the best reflexes of all goalies, nor the best glove, nor the most amazing athletic abilities (or the biggest pads, cawfgiggycawf), but he's very handy with his stick (one of the best goalies in the league at such imo), has a very strong pokecheck and ability to clear the puck, and is very, very consistent, especially after he's rebuilt his style. He also has solid positioning and, I'm going to say, is possibly the best goaltender in the NHL at working with his teammates, at the current time. He may not play the puck as well as a handful of others (like Turco), but he has amazing fluidity with the other Wings, and I think this is often overlooked. I've seen plays where he's made a clutch save or two, the puck is out in front somewhere, and he gets up and plays not for the puck, but plays an angle on a possible future threat should the other team get the puck.. even though he's leaving the part of the net where the current possible threat and scrabble in front is going on uncovered. Given the consistency in which he does this (and how often it comes out in the Wings favor), I'm convinced that he does this not in error, but because he has a very high amount of confidence in the defensemen on his team (and rightfully so). They also seem to have a very high confidence level in him, leaving him to play the angles and stuffing pucks into his pads when needed, letting him do his job while they go to block shots or cover their zone. The parity that this Wings team and Osgood have is hard to notice at first glance, but phenomenal and very rare. I think this more than anything else is why Osgood has been so clutch since being put in, and that's not besides his ability.. rather, that's part of his ability, and in my opinion it's a very valuable talent. This is only further complimented by his excellent personality and attitude. Damn, wouldntcha know the guy has good looks, too?

Fortunately, my beer was not in hand at the time. However, I did have to make a diving save (a save which MAF did not make XD) for my laptop, which nearly went flying.
-
Out of gas? I doubt it. He got shut down, plain and simple. I'm around the same age as Malkin, though my fitness is absolute s*** compared to a pro hockey player.. and even I'm ready to go full force after a week of rest. I seriously doubt that was a problem for him, either.

Am I the only one that thinks that suit is absolutely epic? (for the record, I hate formal dress, so whenever anyone wears formal dress that looks like its against the grain or a bit absurd, I love it)
-
I was here, uh, in spirit! Yea! I was certainly cheering for the Wings at that time.. and even playing the games XD its sort of a ritual for me to drag out the NHL games every playoff and play until the Wings are beaten or win.

I don't recall any times I've SAID anything bad about Sammy, but I know I've thought snide thoughts so I'll apologize for that. Awesome night for him. Also, did you notice that on the first goal, he scored it trying to assassinate Fleury's shinguard.. and Fleury didn't get his shinguard in position in time? >_> shame
-
Worse. This time, Homer gets a penalty, and Fleury wasn't even in the crease.
-
Isn't that where they kept Datsyuk in stasis for about 40-50 years?

ARE YOU SHOOK UP ARE YOU NERVOUS?! DO I MAKE YOU NERVOUS?! XD Fleury.. No worries though, Im practically shaking over here myself and Im not even on the ice.
