    Retire Osgood's #30?

Incredibly sarcastic, yes. He was trying to make a point that he felt Osgood didn't belong with those names, and used sarcasm to be like "lol which isn't like the others?" And as someone who wouldn't have a problem seeing Ozzie with those names, it's obvious to me that Delvecchio stands out because he's the only one out of that lot that's won a Byng. Anyhow, fun fact: Delvecchio (and family) was one of my dad's neighbors when he was growing up. Yea, I'm not ragging on him at all.

    Retire Osgood's #30?

To be honest I think that 'those players' hold the ability to: * remain a goaltender in the NHL for 18 years, 13 as a starter * retain said position mostly on the most winning team in the league for roughly 1/5-1/4 of the NHL's existence (when they could have easily afforded someone else for most of it) * be top 10 all time in goalie wins for both regular season and the playoffs * be the all-time wins leader for the franchise in a lot higher regard than you seem to. Hell, I'd even wager that some of them would find the notion that you think they'd be slighted to have such an individual alongside them ridiculous.

    Retire Osgood's #30?

Won Lady Byng trophies. Wow, that was easy. Are you saying Delvecchio shouldn't be retired because he won a 'wimpy' award?

That would be awesome; the Ozzie chant at the end of the game could be deafening.

    Retire Osgood's #30?

Be kinda awkward not to put the winningest goalie in franchise history into the rafters, imo. It's like.. here's the this goalie, he's played 14 seasons for us, some as a backup, most as a starter, he's been involved in 3 of our 4 cups, 2 as a starter, oh, and he's our winningest goalie ever and has a crowd chant dedicated to him... but oh wait, let's not put him in the rafters when he retires because he's got a bad rep that stuck around from 1 long range goal in a playoff series.

    Bell Ringing

The Salvation Army isn't my favorite charity. However, it's a good cause and in the holiday spirit, I have an idea that I usually partake in this time of the year: So many people complain when they get odd change or stuff at the grocery store or Wal-Mart or what have you... so, unless you're hard pressed for every cent (and I know what that feels like), why not keep out the change you get back while shopping to toss in the bucket? It may not seem like a lot, but every little bit helps... and at the same time it rids you of a possible 'inconvenience', and might even make you feel good about yourself. There, I did something.. uh... holiday cheerish. Now I can go back to being my Grinch-like self. Also, it's good to see the Wings help in small ways with causes like this. Too many people out sleeping with inadequate clothing and shelter this time of year, especially in a place as miserable in the late fall/winter as the midwest.

    Daniel Larsson's comments on Osgood&Howard

Alright, some pretty stupid crap to say. But then again, most of the good goalies are a bit nuts. If he's that damned eager, and can show some improvement in his conditioning this year, let him have his NHL shot. If he sucks, he gets to ride the pine until he gets traded to Edmonton, and jokes on him.

    RWC's new prospect rankings

Pulkinnen should be higher imo; Sheahan, Andersson, Emmerton, Lashoff reshuffled a bit. I'd rank: 01. Smith -- Beast 02. Tatar - Minibeast 03. Nyquist -- Arguably (one of) the best prospect in college hockey 04. Mursak 05. McCollum 06. Jarnkrok -- Has higher upside than Sheahan most likely, but.. 07. Sheahan -- Was taken in the 1st round because he's a safe pick to develop into a usable NHLer, plus size 08. Pulkinnen -- Injuries still leave questions, but could rapidly vault up list 09. Emmerton - Please be for real this time, Cory. 10. Lashoff 11. Andersson

    Datsyuk's goal song?

Personally I find it rather fitting that their goal song is a song that's a tribute to a dead guy (their original bassist, who had problems with alcoholism and shot himself). Reminds me of their play.

Well, I certainly couldn't tell you from watching the game tonight. I mean, that super low GA had to balance out eventually but... ouch.

Dear Babcock, Please sit Janik before Kronwall when Ericsson is back. Thanks, Datsyerberger

    Wings need a goalie

Ozzie's also never had a playoff even approaching Marty's worst (in the prime of his career!) in a measure of brutality. Sorta silly to compare either way.

    Wings to Eastern Conference Someday?

f*** yes, please. Easier travel schedules, weaker conference.

    Wings need a goalie

Worth pointing out Ozzie had a SV% of .914 tonight, which is acceptable for a backup. Gotta hold the defense accountable at some point.

10/28 GD: Coyotes 4 at Red Wings 2

Ozzie played a good game for the last 2 periods. A shame he couldn't bring bigger saves in the 1st. Then again, when your team lets up 11 SOG in the first 10 minutes you're in for a depressing night as a goalie, from what I understand.

Also, Janik is brutal. I miss Ericsson. At least he has more body size to get in the way, even if he does equally little with it.

Are hockey hits harder than football hits?

Here's a couple videos, both best cast scenario, solid contact hits: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9jgP1brUn8 Both clean hits, both solid, both involve a moving object and a relatively stationary object. Both Reggie and RJ get their s*** ruined. However, even given the likely difference in player weight, even a 2mph difference is enough to push the hockey hit over the top in force. At least Reggie was able to get up for a moment. RJ was just destroyed. I wouldn't want to be either of them, mind you. Also keep in mind that, assuming both players are completely stunned/out of control when they fall, and both fall on their back, RJ is going to have a harder impact on the fall... ice is significantly more solid than any average ground. Though that's relatively inconsequential in context of either of these hits.
