BRIAN motherf***er RAFALSKI!

You know, normally I'd be pissing and moaning about something like that.. but that was just too funny, Kronwall. Highlight reel for all the wrong reasons. :rotflmao:

I think you're obsessed with telling him that he is obsessed with telling him that... Oh, f*** it. You're just obsessed with making lulzy 'shops.

Crosby didn't earn my respect, but Iggy sure did. Don't get me wrong, Crosby still has to put the puck in the net, but Iginla gift-wrapped him that one with his hard work. Even more so, Toews certainly earned more respect with me in that tournament.. about as offensively effective as those two -and- excellent defense. In any case, Crosby's one of the top 5 players in the world. Already had my respect before this tournament, and it's not like he needs to earn it.

Mike Milbury uses 'Eurotrash game' to describe Russian hockey

Agreed. His facial expression was priceless, should be a gif or something. Hope someone youtubes that. -
Kopecky got a GWG in the Olympics. Teehee. I always take a perverse joy in watching players who got overly ragged on by this forum succeed elsewhere.

So, in all likelihood, this is one of the upcoming Olympic quarterfinal matchups: Russia vs Canada This being a non-medal matchup is TERRIBLE. Why, do you say? Look at this conundrum: 1. Canada loses Pros: *Ovy (and Dats?) get more respect; finally something to even out the Ovy vs Crosby matchup in terms of big games play. Cons: *Yzerman, Babcock dissing (probably undeservedly so with either prima donna stars or choking goalies) in Canadian media hysteria 2. Russia loses *Using this as an unfounded prop for Crosby > Ovy *Inflated Canadian egos (See: Don Cherry) *CrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyC rosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCro s byCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosby C rosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCro s byCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosby C rosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCro s byCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosby C rosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosbyCrosby (I already want to hit the mute button) The effects would be a lot less exaggerated either way if this were a medal matchup. Ugh, nightmare. Both the professional hockey media and internet forums are going to be ridiculously intolerable either way. I feel like I should just go out and sever my cable/internet line and be done with it.

Not at all. Currently, my beef with the media (including non-professional media such as forums) is that since Crosby has a cup, some people (including professionals) will be like "well, skill and Rockets and blahblahblah, but Crosby has a cup, therefore Crosby > Ovechkin". However, if Ovechkin beats Crosby in the Olympics and medals, "but Ovechkin has a medal/beat Crosby on the world stage" can be used as a counter-argument to that, thus negating that and bringing the argument purely back to skill (or at least make both parties look like clowns), which I prefer to see. Otherwise, it's going to be Crosby >> Ovy because Cup AND Olympics and the media obsession will focus more back to solely Crosby, putting it on one player again instead of two, which is a step in the wrong direction from what I'd like to see. This is all about the media, you see. Particularly the (Canadian) hockey media. The result of this matchup either way is going to be rather annoying.

If "all of the above" is an option, I'm taking it.

Yea, that's pretty much it. Some bandwagoners are gonna be in for a shock when we have to rely on normal high caliber defenders for a top pairing instead of the generational talent sort.

Two biggest things that decided this match: 1. Brodeur stunk it up (I know some people are being nice to him because he's, you know, Marty, but it's true). That one is admittedly Bab's call, but imo he gets eviscerated even more by the media if he goes with Lu and loses. Now it's been shown that Marty isn't the 'guy', and he can play one of the other two goalies in the game(s) that really matters. 2. Miller. Ryan... MFing... Miller. Going by save percentage alone, reverse the goaltending situation in that game: Canada: 7 (8 if EN) USA: ~2 Granted, I know quality of chances has to be taken into account, but that was biased in Canada's favor as well. In short, yea, goaltending can make that much of a difference. Assuming both teams play with a goaltender at .900% USA: 2.5 (so 2 or 3) Canada: 4.5 (so 4 or 5, 5 or 6 if EN) Edit: Actually, it's more lopsided than all of that. I used the wrong numbers for Marty, ending up with a .845% rather than the .81 or so that he had... so that slants things even more in the team-with-Miller's favor. The above numbers assuming .900 work regardless, though.

Eeeepic fail at not putting Dats out there in the extra shootings but having AO (twice) and Kovy out there, neither of which are big shootout guys. -
Anyone Else Miss the Larger International Rinks?
Datsyerberger replied to Behind Enemy Lines in CO's topic in General
I have, especially since I believe that the NHL needs to increase the width of their ice (even if not to the international sie). -
It's "for all intents and purposes". Please don't do that again.

Watching that Ovy - Dats - Semin line is a treat. Russia outscores America and Canada in the first period.
