Draper - Helm - Eaves Lidstrom - Rafalski for a PP unit, anyone?

Draper - Helm - Eaves for the win
-
Probably playing against the Pens, Wings, Rangers, or Flyers.
-
Much better, they get rid of a lockerroom issue + salary + defensive weakness all in one person. (Ian White is a much better d-man for the role Phaneuf was playing in Calgary) Meanwhile, they get a center that can make a play, a good, hardworking winger that can score goals, and some dude. They can toss Jokinen on the wing and stick Langkow or Stajan between him and Iggy, and still have a good second line with Bourque and one of Stajan or Lankgow. J-Bo - Giordano White - Reggy Sarich - Johnson/Pardy is a much more balanced looking defense. And yea, White is an RFA so they get him much cheaper than Phaneuf next year, and shed salary for next year.
-
You're kidding, right? Calgary far and away wins that trade. They shed some bad salary and their roster gets a lot deeper.
-
Howard keeping us alive again.
-
Oh look, another chincy penalty on the Wings. (Channeling Mickey)
-
Goddammit, the only one on the NBC crew that will say anything about the Wings is the guy in our division. (Cool on Edzo to give some love to Howie, though)
-
Are they going to talk about anything regarding the Wings other than how obvious it was they took a penalty?
-
Hahahahaha! You know they're sucking up to Pittsburgh when they call that hole 'beautiful'.
-
Interviewing Crosby: "When did you make the transition to a goal scorer?" The Cros: "When have I not averaged ~35 or more goals over an 82 game season? Dumbass."
-
The Leafs get hosed. Trade their best center, their second best winger, their second best (cheap) defensemen and some Mayers dude for an overpaid 2nd pairing d-man, a good prospect and a spare part.
-
I think that pretty much covers it for all of us.

Hiller stays a Duck, what about Gigeure now?
Datsyerberger replied to swiss_redwingfan's topic in General
Something centered around Giggy to Toronto and Toskala to Ducks? Obviously, there's probably going to be other assets moving there. Edit: Actually, I see no reason why Ducks don't wait til the offseason for this. Vesa card is off the books for Toronto, so I dunno.. maybe something involving Finger and a prospect or roster player for Giggy and a pick? -
Well, at least they won't have excess speed to make repeated stupid pinches in the offensive zone.
-
I'm sad this has to be the end of the losing streak for one of the teams in question. ....Go Oilers!
-
Good on the D to stand up for Ozzie.

*Twitches*

And the officials can't properly identify timeouts. Woo.

Short answer: No. Long answer: No, and I'm glad you're not Ken Holland. When a team is having to use AHL players on their 2nd line for almost a month's worth of play and their #7-8 d-men as their #4 and 5 for an extended period of time, it's not the appropriate time to make any significant changes based on a performance evaluation. Some people on this website are annoyingly spoiled (I live in Florida; I watch a lot of the Bolts). If anything, we should be surprised that a team suffering as many injuries to as significant of players for as long of time as the Wings have this year has kept above .500 and in playoff contention. Most of the players on this team (such as Lidstrom, who currently ranks #1 in defensive ranking among defensemen, or Datsyuk, who leads the league with takeaways and is a significant plus on a minus team, or Bertuzzi, who has majorly revamped his game) deserve praise, not criticism. Edit: Source on Lidstrom comment -- Alternatively, you could use this, where Lidstrom is #3 (behind the amazing defensive tandem of Keith and Seabrook. Lidstrom partners with Rafalski [or at some points in the season, Stuart]). http://www.behindthenet.ca/2009/gvt.php?so...team=&pos=D I think the fact that Raffi is in the top 10 on the above list is another credit to him. While he's not god awful defensively like some here enjoy painting him, it's certainly not his specialization and I don't want to see him as a regular on the PK.

Go Hawks! Go Hossa! Go Phoenix! While the Hawks are most definitely long time rivals, I consider the Hawks 'good' rivals, not 'hated' rivals a la the old Avs. The Hawks are the sort of rival that I would rather see them win the division, conference, and/or cup if not the Wings. I see no problem with considering them a rival and holding this attitude; I'd much rather have a successful, respectable rival than crappy, unlikable one.
-
I like how many funny names they have on their roster: Legwand Tootoo Erat Pekka Rinne etc
-
if the wings made a deal who would you want gone and who would you wan
Datsyerberger replied to king_malice's topic in General
Reality check: The ones you want gone are usually not the ones you can get much (if any) assets for. -
This is the sort of loss that I really want to be able to pin on the goaltender, and say "goddammit Ozzie" because I don't want to acknowledge the Red Wings team of skaters could possibly suck that much, but.. HOLY DOGs***, that was a terrible defensive effort.

Datsyuk also has "great backside pressure", according to Jack Edwards.. and apparently Ovechkin gives other players shots on the mouth ( Miller76... )
