moar dmen imo
-
Beat them in the 1st round next year and proceed to the SCF?
-
The same reason Nashville etc boos Detroit, getting beat up on year after year by them.
-
Yea, our swamp cooler isn't working and its ******* roasting in here. Like 87 in the apartment. Landlord hopefully coming tomorrow.
-
-
Montreal takes the french name guy, Burke trades up to take the tough guy. Suuurrppprriiiise.
-
Anaheim trades down!
-
Morrow is still left.
-
Woohoo, Murphy goes too early and potentially pushes a better d-man back to the Wings.
-
Displeased that the Avs didn't take Larsson, so Lando damned well better work out as expected (and not become a character 3rd line energy forward sort).
-
Lol, damned gosh-darned modern composite sticks! [/mickey]

Well, basically, we could afford something like Richards at 7.5, Wiz at 5, Jagr at 2.5, fill in the blanks with the remaining money. Whatever the team looks like after that is bound to be pretty obscene. Cap space is interesting.
-
Well, that's lots of moneys for us to play with.
-
He was honest, and quite frankly, he's right. It wasn't him anymore than anyone else on Phoenix. They flat out got dismantled in that series.
-
I wouldn't mind taking Salei back as a #7 or something but honestly I hope he finds somewhere out west so he can be closer to his family.
-
Actually, you can do that. You can say, okay, we'll trade you this and this and this for Burns, and if he re-signs with us in the '12-'13 offseason, we'll throw in that and that too. Trades with conditional assets (usually picks) based upon a player signing/re-signing with a team happen fairly often.

Versteeg is Hudler with a bigger paycheck; faster, but not as much offensive vision. He'd drive the people here nuts.
-
With the cap going up I'd say it's not so unrealistic now, the Wings just have to be willing to pay fair value.
-
That would be uuuuugly. 1. Value mismatch 2. Wings already overloaded on bottom 6 forwards even if you remove Hudler Hordi + pick, maybe, but I'd rather just lose Hordi and make it a better pick.
-
Best dman in the league for 6.2m.. works for me every time. He's actually paid less in this contract than the last one (if you look at pay as a percentage of the cap).
-
Poor Edmonton.. the only sort of people that want to go there are the sorts of contracts/age range they don't want to take on.

I've been musing over this for a while. First, let me acknowledge a couple things: 1. A 'skill' guy like Filppula isn't going to win a Selke unless he's amazing (see: Datsyuk, Pavel). Physically aggressive play is still a necessary component to what many in the media consider to be defense (this is also why the majority of Norris candidates/winners are also physically-oriented guys and why pure skill winners are rare; see Lidstrom, Nicklas). 2. There are people I'd take over Filppula regardless of the above point. That said, I've wondered how much Selke attention Filppula would get if Datsyuk and Zetterberg were more offense-oriented players. He can PK well and is one of the safest players at ES in the league right now, in my opinion. Most other players in a 2C role that put up his offensive numbers are considerably inferior defensively. Unfortunately, he has an extremely non-assertive style that tends not to get him noticed as much. I can't see him winning with his style of play nor the shutdown ability of some of the guys out there, but I could see him with a handful of top 5 finishes and a outside-to-decent chance of a top 3 finish or two. Am I alone in this observation?

Some of those cap numbers...

Well to be precise its not exactly a wild tattoo, he does have a tattoo that says he was drafted at (I can't remember his draft position offhand); plus that his back is full of tattoos of all sorts of wild animals and s***. It's pretty nuts.
-
On the note of Schultz, I highly recommend watching him to anyone that hasn't really paid attention. His numbers will never catch your eye, but he's awesome to watch play defensively; I've followed him the last handful of years. Great defensive d-man, great character guy.
