There have been 4 times that a Joel Quennville coached team has met up with (and lost to) the Wings in the playoffs: 1997 1998 2002 2008

5. Joel Quennville 4. Joel Quennville 3. Joel Quennville 2. Joel Quennville 1. Joel Quennville

I thought that was an illegal immigrant joke at first.

I still support the fact that we can't go wrong either way in this situation.
-
This is to all the haters during the regular season that were consistently on my nuts for supporting Ozzie and laughing at my suggestion he would be a beast in the playoffs: That out of the way, welcome to the bandwagon

In the playoffs, the officials have a tendency to call games "even" rather than call them "fair". The ability to distinguish the difference between the two and realize how it benefits dirtier teams like the Ducks is important in realizing how much more potent such teams can become in the playoffs. I don't bother complaining about it too much, aside from individual incidents where the official is clearly a dumbass (see: all of last game, early whistle from Watson). A cup-worthy team should be able to overcome that sort of adversity.

Well, the posts on LGW will be as worthless as **** on a bull for the next 24 hours.

Oh look, it's the same quick whistle we got in our end earlier. ..Wait...
-
Jeez, all the trips and inteference against the Wings and the refs call that on them?
-
Okay, 20 minutes of hockey left to play.. it'd better be some solid hockey.

Positives: Joel Quennville Khabibulin isn't doing that great Young/inexperienced team Joel Quennville Having to come from behind a lot Joel Quennville Home ice Joel Quennville Cons: Uhhh... no Kopecky? *shrug*

Hmm.. Lovely thing with which to determine playoff games, that.

Don Cherry's body is rolling in his grave in the future because this wounds him so dearly.

Why? This is my theory. The Wings are generally the cleanest team in the league. They frequently match up in the playoffs against not-so-clean teams (this applies to the Ducks in particular). Refs put away their whistles in OT (only 1 penalty -- albeit in the Wings favor -- in 3 OTs this game) Therefore, high PIM and/or dirty teams benefit a lot more from OT like that, where they can keep playing an edgy/dirty game with much lower fear of penalties, whereas the Wings don't benefit from that, because their players get interfered with/etc, and they don't go to the PP as often, one of their strongest assets. I'm sure that's not all of it, but I'd call it a reasonable part of the problem.

Two things that would be nice in the 3rd period: Less one-sided officiating Someone other than Osgood being our best player -

That's what it seems like. Always scored on the backhand. Wish he'd use it more. -

Mental note to self: When opposing player checks you, and he falls down instead of you, it's a penalty. -
Datsyerberger's view of Randy Carlyle: ****** canoe.

I'mana say Geno, he has the best potential for a complete, two-way game with balanced playmaking, scoring, and physicality. Fits the Wings puck possession mold well. However, Ovy in a really close second, for the aforementioned reasons in this thread. Just not sure how his defensively.. weak game would fit into the Wings and what sort of changes more defensive play would bring to his game.

Adams. On the Red Wings, and only the Red Wings, is it a requirement for you to get 1st in the NHL to be a finalist for the Adams, and that's just to be a finalist. -
