"Okay." Seriously though, my man Osgood is tearing it up! God, I love the beast known as playoff Ozzie. Solid 1st period. -

WCQF GAME 3 GDT: Red Wings 4, Blue Jackets 1

"Chris Osgood says no." Matt oughta make an Ozzie shirt with that. -
A loss isn't a win in the playoffs. Period, end of story. If they were to (somehow) win 21 games, lose 13 in regulation and 7 in overtime in the playoffs, then they would have 21 wins and 20 losses. Just above .500. And seeing as this conversation is in relevance to the playoffs, I'd say that's a lot more relevant than OT losses boosting winning % in the regular season.

An overtime loss is a loss and nothing more in the playoffs. That's essentially 21-20, JUST over .500.

Columbus Columnist: Osgood is Wings' Weak Link
Datsyerberger replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Given not just these last 2 games but the fact that Osgood is arguably the most consistent and successful playoff goaltender since Roy's heyday (primary competition there being Brodeur; Osgood has NEVER posted as bad of post season numbers as Brodeur did in 03-04, however)... yea, goaltending doesn't even come near to our weakest link. #1 is most likely motivation, which doesn't seem to be an issue right now. -

Columbus Columnist: Osgood is Wings' Weak Link
Datsyerberger replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Weak link? What's that? They don't have the scoring depth. They don't have the back end skill. They don't have physicality or hitting. They don't have faceoff ability. They don't have veteran presence. They don't have energetic youngsters. They don't have cup experience. They don't have a good system. They don't have shutdown forwards. They take too many penalties. They don't have fan support. They don't have heart. They don't have leadership. They don't have good coaching. They don't have good goaltending. -
Ill take Lu and the Nucks over Pronger and the f***s. (God, I love how that rhymes) We have the Nucks outskilled both up front and in the back, and Osgood is a more proven playoff goaltender than Lu (mind you, Lu's performance so far has been great). Anaheim = Injuries and a longer trip. Also, Nucks have 0 cups among their entire roster.. Anaheim is 2nd to the Wings in that regard, I think.

Its both the Ducks massive experience AND the Sharks massive choking ability. Throw in some Hiller playing out of his mind. Fortunately for the rest of the west, their scoring isn't at the same level it was at in 06/07.

Well, look at the bright side.. here's what our potential matchups are shaping up to be: Chicago, who have Quennville (our playoff good luck charm) as a coach and an inexperienced core. Vancouver, who have 0 cups throughout all the players on their team (and very little finals/conference finals experience within their core). Anaheim, probably the nastiest of the lot, but lacking in their scoring depth as compared to previous years. With any luck, if we make it to next round, we face Chicago or Vancouver (preferably Chicago), the other team knocks out Anaheim after a long struggle (possibly taking some injuries), we face a tired team in the conference finals, either one of which shapes up as a good matchup for us. We then (hopefully) roll over whoever comes out of the East.

Eh, it's not so much the Sharks being their usual choker selves. It's the Ducks.. they were underrated going into this series. They made some solid trades around the deadline, sending out underperformers and getting some fresh young talent (Nokelainen and Whitney both stick out as good grabs, Whitney was a steal imo). They have arguably the best veteran d-man pairing not in a Wings uniform. They have an explosive first line, and while their scoring depth up front is a little lacking, their defensive and physical depth throughout their top 12 forwards is very strong. If I'm not mistaken, they're 2nd only to the Wings in cup rings/proven playoff performers. Oh, and they have a hot young goaltender, while Nabby has been below average by his standards. The Ducks may not make it to the conference finals, but if they don't, they're gonna give everyone up until then hell. I facepalm at all the people who wanted to face these guys in the fist (lol @ Freudian slip, best left unedited) round.

Well, Philly got ref'd out of Game 2, so that series is closer than it appears imo.

PS 2009 Round 1 Photoshop War: Columbus Blue Jackets
Datsyerberger replied to Matt's topic in Hall of Fame
Lol... actually, that's more like Ken & Mickey Mickey: A hook? They call that a hook? Ken: Chincy little calls like that.. Mickey: Back in my day, we had to hook a player up hill on the ice to draw a penalty like that! Ken: Back in your day, they hadn't invented the Zamboni yet! Both: *old men laughs*- 687 replies
