Anyone else feeling really sorry for Duck Guy at this point?
-
Wtf. SJ gets Moen and Huskins. Anaheim is trading out all their cup winners!
-
Fixed.
-
Chicago gets Pahlsson for Wisniewski.
-
So long, Huddles (unless The Amazing Midget Man is willing to take pennies to stay).
-
Nice to see Iggy finally get a 1st line center, but not one who's having a bad year and hasn't tasted the playoffs in however the hell long Jokinen's been in the NHL now.
-
I just heard Erik Christensen for Eric O'Dell
-
Some large skilled young player named Jonathan Ericsson, I hear. Stay tuned for details..

If this turns out to be true, I'm going to a Pentacostal church to thrash around in front of the altar and babble in tongues.
-
I've been figuring his less-than-expected performance in GR has mostly been due to stagnation. He's 25 and skilled, time to come up to play with the big boys. Look forward to seeing more of him this game so I can make a more balanced decision about what I think of his NHL play. I'm hoping Babs will be bold and place him on the 2nd pair a bit.
-
No matter how you arrange the forwards, you end up with: 2 star players and a utility 1st liner on the 1st line. A star player, a 1st/2nd liner, and a 2nd liner on the 2nd line. 3 2nd liners on the 3rd line. A couple of 3rd liners and a 2nd liner on the 4th line 2 3rd liners in reserve. Freakin' sweet, imo.

No, but I have to admit it'd be nice if a certain team with one of the highest mileage travel schedules didn't also have the most back to back games in the year.
-
Really? That surprises me, actually.. I just figured most guys like me were lazy bastards and just wad it up. Anyhow.. No, I like trade deadline day. However, I can't @$#% stand the month beforehand (and all the ridiculous posts/proposals/etc). The person below me is TPBM.

Oh dear god, it would have to be me that got this one. Yea. 4 laptops in the house (5 if you count one that's disassembled in the midst of an attempted salvage), 3 desktops with parts necessary to assemble a 4th. I'm counting a work laptop in one of those, but it's basically the boss's on loan until the company can afford to pay its 1/2 on a new dual purpose work/home laptop for me (I pay the other 1/2 and get ownership). TPBM crinkles, not folds (toilet paper).

Taking our spot as #1 in the league by defeating Colorado? Sounds like destiny to me. Do Raycroft/Budaj know how to do the Statue of Liberty?
-
Hey thanks, now I don't have to toot my own horn. I made that thread. With the depth of talent that the Wings have, Wings fans can often be too unappreciative of the talent of our lower liners, or anyone that's not developing into the next Yzerman/Lidstrom/Sawchuck/Howe. See Quincey comments at the end of the off season. We never learn.

ZDH Franzen - Flip - Hossa Leino - Hudler - Sammy Helm - Draper - Cleary (or Hudler - Helm - Sammy Leino - Draper - Cleary ) Kopecky Maltby Downey Aces Raffi - Lids Kronwall - Ericsson/Stuart Lilja - Stuart/Ericsson Lebda Chelios Meech There's so many different ways each line could be arranged with this team it's just ridiculous. Babs is probably gonna shuffle a lot with the options we have to keep the other teams guessing.
-
Ovechkin is one of maybe 10 people on the planet who could make driving a utility cart look awesome.
-
Hm. As long as Howard doesn't turn into the second coming of Hasek with them I'd live with that. Larsson can probably come up this upcoming year. ZDH = 2 stars and a 1st line utility player. Franzen - Flip - Hossa = 1 star, 1 1st liner, and a 2nd liner. Cleary - Hudler - Sammy = 3 2nd liners. Leino - Draper - Neil = 3 3rd liners / 1 potential 2nd liner Kopecky = solid 3rd/4th liner Maltby = solid 3rd/4th liner Downey = Enforcer Oh lawdy lawd, talk about loaded.
-
Oh noes, he's only 16 pts, 89 hits:38 PIMs, +3, PKs, and a SHG, in under 10 minutes ATOI, while coming off a serious knee injury, at that. That only makes him one of the better performing 4th liners in the league. Frigging loser.
-
This is why I hate the month leading up to the trade deadline.

Been thinking about this guy, and wondering why the Wings wanted to hold onto him to the point where upper management talked him into not retiring. They had to have known they were gonna have a logjam this year after getting Hossa, and what with the d-men, Leino, etc. Is it possible they were keeping him employed so they could have him on the roster next year? It's arguable as to whether Abdelkader is ready, and they probably don't expect to keep D-mac past this year.. ZDH Franzen/Hudler - Flip - Hossa Leino - Helm - Cleary Maltby - Draper - Kopecky Downey Perhaps? Downey slides into Maltby's slot when up against a goon team... I could also see Helm on the 4th line and Kopecky on the 3rd. ZDH Mule/Hudler - Flip - Hossa Leino - Cleary - Kopecky Helm - Draper - Downey Maltby That wouldn't be anything to complain about. Leino doesn't exactly need someone to set him up, put him out there with 2 bangers that'll go to the net and you have success, imo. Or if we don't get Franzen and Babs plays Leino and Hudler on the same line... ZDH Leino - Hudler - Hossa Cleary - Flip - Kopecky Helm - Draper - Downey Maltby or ZDH Cleary - Flip - Hossa Leino - Hudler - Kopecky Helm - Draper - Downey Maltby Sorry, typical long-winded speculation from me. But you know what I like about this team? The word "or".
-
Most likely. I don't think they talked him out of retirement just to give him AHL pay/play.
-
Looks like the Red Wings & the Sharks battling off the ice, Robert
