Your subject line is true for 96% of the league, so, nice prediction. Dynamite. I do agree with your sentiment about the Wings staying put. I think that as fans, across any sport, we love to play GM and draw up all these hypotheticals that most of the time are simply pipe dreams and just will not happen. Especially trades. If you want to get rid of all these players, you're assuming that other teams will them. Like Sammy, Cleary, White, you can't just move them at will. You can't just implode the team and automatically stay competitive. The Wings are competing right now. They're doing what they can with what they got. Do you have to ask for more? IMO it is not realistic in this salary cap age to think your team will just be lights out every year. Take a step back and realize, like the title implies, your team cannot be above average every year. There's no reason to overly negative about it.

I'm not so sure a team has ever tried it or that your post is serious, but for those that have played hockey, this just really wouldn't work out. It would be like playing with three centers in basketball, two shortstops in baseball, etc.

Yeah it's really tough to tell. He could have completely laid him out but didn't do so. So to that point he kind of led with his knee/missed. I do imagine he will get a game or two though - game was basically over, something like that happens, think it's warranted.

Fair enough, but DRW will still try for both of them this offseason, along with others. If the Wings cannot sign anyone to come here, and the lore of throwing on the sweater is gone, the only way to rebuild is from the ground up then. I just don't believe that. This organization can still compete with all the others when it comes to being one players want to play for. IMO

Missing the specific players hurts the actual play but the inability to develop as a cohesive unit with identity is what hurts most about injuries. Example, Tatar, Tootoo, etc. have excelled since jelling together with others in the bottom six, where the rest of the team needs to do the same, which is impossible when everyone is hurt.

There is no way that Anaheim will hang onto Perry, Getzlaf, and Ryan, even if they win the Cup. I don't see them all taking a discount. Not a perfect example, but Parise last year almost won a Cup last year in NJ and still left. As far as the game goes, not fun to watch, minus Pavel. Really hoping for a turnaround when the team is completely healthy, if that ever happens. Make the playoffs and then anything can happen. I understand there are major issues but there are still good pieces here, I don't think it is time to just blow it up and start over yet. I know this is a bad way to think, but why make drastic moves now in this shortened season when we've been planning to make a splash this FA offseason? It's tough to watch but I am just going to wait it out and stick with my team, because I don't really know what else to do to be honest with you.

Question: If Howard is "average", thus not terribly bad but not terribly good either, and you want to move on from him, is option B to scrap him from the lineup and rotate Mrazek and McCollum for the rest of the year? Wouldn't you agree he is still the best goalie on the team with the most experience? So, yes he is average, but we should move on to below average? I guess I just don't get it, barring a trade, which probably won't happen, you're rolling the dice on the rest of the season. If you want to chalk up the season and just give everyone a shot, then yes that makes sense. I don't think the Wings are going to win the Cup this year but if they are going to at least make the playoffs, the starting goaltender is Jimmy Howard.

Need Helm back so badly. Even moreso than Bert IMO, because he ties the bottom six together, thus keeping the talent in the top two lines. Ehh. Better win tonight boys. LGW!
