GDT 2/13 GDT : St. Louis Blues 4 at Red Wings 3 (OT)

Lets go Wings!!! -
Fair enough, but they still are the defending Cup champs. They were getting chances all day. They have offensive firepower, albeit not starting well so far this season. And Jimmy was coming off a hard fought game yesterday. As hard as he worked today, he deserves some credit. I wonder what it will take for Jimmy naysayers to come around. A Cup? Again, I do not put Jimmy as a Top 5, maybe even 10, goaltenders in the league, but he usually gives the team a chance to win. He is the Wings guy until proven otherwise. The times I have said, "Jimmy was huge today." outweigh the times I have said, "He cost us the game today."

Let's go Wings!!!

Here we go, Peety! Let's go boys, let's go Wings! Dingers - 10 (All Brunner) Blues - 0
-
Good luck young fella! Hope he plays well and adds to a Wings WIN
-
Did you view Quick as an "elite" goalie before last year, and further into the playoffs? I thought he really blew up onto the scene during the Kings playoff run. Jimmy's capable of doing that. Jimmy is not the problem.
-
Not an excuse for him playing subpar, but A) Jimmy was one that didn't play at all during the lockout and B) he hasn't gotten a rest all season. I think blaming the goalie is an easy way out for the team's shortcomings as a whole. No he's not a Vezina candidate every season but he is our guy until proven otherwise. I don't look at any games this season and say, "Jimmy lost us this one." But that's just me.

What a joke. That's two blatent bad match calls along with that one the Blues got dogged with against the Wings. If something like this happens in the playoffs, stings a lot more.

In class. How our boy Toots do this round?
-
So sick. I want one!

Finally a game not against Dallas or the Blue Jackets! Looking forward to this phenom line of Pav Flip Tatar Tot. They should burn the Flames. Hopefully. Also glad Ian is back, he is paramount to the D being good, though I think Amazon Kindl has filled in well. The D needs to have an identity and make it work. But really, looking forward to the game tonight. Should be a good one. I’m also relieved Hudler isn’t on the squad anymore, but good for him having some worth on another team, and further makes me like him that he is embracing tonight as a big game. No hard feelings there. Hope he buries a few. Wings 12 (All Bert) Flames 2 (All Huds) Here we go boys, LGW PS. My brother won tickets via some text contest at lunch?? (The question was: Jiri Hudler returns tonight. Who was the last prior Wing to play for Calgary? D Mac! Easiest question ever!!) Calls me back and tells me they end up being suite tickets!! WTF

Absurd call cost STL the game but Hank is the man and I really liked the way the squad looked tonight. Let's get another one tomorrow! LGW -
Hopefully I'm not reading too much into it, but minus a few hiccups (like Kronners looking a little off), thought this game was a real step in the right direction for this team this year. At least moving into the right direction as far as having an identity and some chemistry in the play. Also very glad Bert is okay. LGW.
-
Out of class at 8:15 so gonna miss the first two, hope I don't have much of a third period to watch because Bert buried 7 already. Let's go Wings.
-
Injured Helm: "Minor Setback", still out indefinitely, *merged*

He is a major asset to this team so couldn't be more glad with this news that it isn't long term. Hope he takes as much time as needed so not to aggravate it further. -
Monday mornings.

Let's go boys, we need this win big. Go Wings.

I agree that in a vacuum, Getzlaf > Subban. But Subban is 4 years younger, plays a much scarcer position in terms of talent, and there’s no guarantees Getzlaf would sign here (see fallout from Parise/Suter last year), whereas if they trade for Subban, they own him. I think it’s real dangerous to put your eggs in the UFA basket again unless you’re truly going to tank, and don’t really care either way because you’re trying to bottom out to get draft position. I understand that they wouldn’t have to give anything up player-wise for Getzlaf, but really, who are you going to be mad about if they traded him for Subban?

I’m just as unhappy as the next guy with the state of the DRW this year. Putting a Cup contender on the ice every single year in a salary cap age is much easier said than done. As a fan, I will watch this season and be faithful that changes will be made either at the trade deadline or the off season. The options are there. Kenny took his best shot at Suter and Parise and it didn’t happen. That doesn’t mean we should go after whatever’s out there now. The free agent class after this season is just as good and would help the squad majorly. The Ducks can't conceivably keep everyone. Don’t make team changing moves this season if we don’t realistically have a chance to compete as well as we would if we can sign others after the season. Just what I think. We’re a spoiled fan base and expect a Cup every year, as we should, but is it really realistic in this day & age? Not every single young talent is going to want to come here. We have to adjust. And that will take time. It is what it is. But I keep my faith that we will always be a competitive team, even if this year is a total blow, we will not turn into the Chicago Blackhawks of the early 2000s. LGW.

What a blow.

Let's go Wings.

Mike the GDT is straight sick. Thanks again for being someone we count on. Been waiting long enough. Hope the Wings come out flying. Play with the passion this board has for them. Lets drop the puck boys, and lets start this season off with a W. LFGW!!!
-
"I'm getting too old for this s***." Thanks for the memories, Homer. LGW

NHL: "Hi, it's me again." Can't wait for the puck to drop.
