I really hope Leino does well too. I've been interested in watching him play more than anyone. Of course I want to see The Hoss to see how well he fits in with Pav and the wings but it's still preseason and we already know what he's capable of. Leino is still the mystery man

For those of you that had your hopes up, sorry to shatter your dreams. But here ya go, here's a little something I found about those texts, enjoy. SteveYzerman returning to the Red Wings? Not so fast.

Now aren't we lucky to have Dats AND Zata?

Bah, I can't hate on anyone that's playing for the Wings but I'm with you about the Kopecky thing. Last season he led our team in hits and he wasn't even there for the whole thing. I think Kopecky deserves a little more credit. Sure we won the cup without him but he did help us out in his own ways

We can all be a little cranky in the off-season, he'll be okay

Although we're all entitled to our own opinions, the truth of the matter is they did beat us more than we beat them last season and they've been getting better as of the past few years. I think they have a chance of getting a playoff spot if they can play as well against other teams as they've been playing against us. They've been playing like there's no tomorrow whenever it was against us. Kane is good and perhaps better than Toews in some ways but I think Toews has better leadership skill and potential. Also, I think that they gave him the "C" because all hawk fans cream themselves over the thought of Toews becoming the next Yzerman so they gave him the captain's role at an early age as well. The one downside I see in them as of now is the amount they're spending on their goalies. They could've spent some of that money to buff up the roster some more in other parts that are needed. I still think their chances are 50/50 if they can stay healthy and play at their best.

I have to say that I was pretty lucky because that game 7 against the Blues in the Western Conference Semifinals back in 96' happened to be my very first game as a hockey fan (Although not too lucky because shortly after we were knocked out by the avs!) but it was a great game and I learned how exciting it can get. As the next season started, it didn't feel the same (I didn't know how different playoff/season hockey was back then) but I tried watching the games as often as I could. I really liked Feds and the Russian 5 but my favorite back then was Ozzy for some reason, I think it had to do with my friend that showed me the game was a big Osgood fan himself. Anyways we won the cup that year. It was a great feeling, I remember going to the parade and everything was awesome. Then came the limousine accident. It was a very tragic event but the unity of the players, staff members and fans all together is what made me love the Wings. I remember my mother taking us to the crash site when it happened, we were living in Rochester Hills so it wasn't too far. The place already had a good hundred fans there with their families praying and lighting candles and stuff. It was really touching to see that fans cared enough to be out there all night to get together and pray. The next day we went to the hospital were they were at (I think it was the Beaumont in Troy or Royal oak) to give 'get well' cards and what not. I remember seeing McCarty, Fedorov and Shanahan coming out of the elevator in front of me and I felt my heart go up my throat and everything. I would've asked for autographs but it didn't feel appropriate at the time so I didn't but it felt like a special moment that I'll always remember. I thought the "Believe" patch they had on their jerseys was a great idea for the following season. We also won the cup again After that we moved to France and to other places here and there but I haven't been to Michigan since then. Ever since all that I've been and always will be a Red Wings fan at heart. I can't think of a single particular player that drew me in so I'll give the credit to the entire organization and Red Wings team and fan base

There might've been a topic somewhere along the same lines as the one I'm about to post but I thought I'd mention it since today is exactly two months since we won the Stanley Cup. We've seen big trades and many contracts being signed thus far, we've seen some teams improving their rosters and others decrementing it. So what are your opinions on who will go up and who will go down next season? I have a feeling that the Blackhawks are going to grab the 7th or 8th spot at the end of the season. They have talented young legs and some solid goaltending now. I'll also be expecting a great Winter Classic game from them as well and hopefully a new rivalry since we all know that the Avs haven't been able to fill that role. I think the Ducks are going to run into a little trouble. We all know that they're a playoff team and everything but I just have a feeling they're going to have a harder time next season. I went to this Chinese restaurant I only go to about once a year and that's what I got in my fortune cookie. Just thought I'd share it with you guys. Sorry about the crap phone cam quality but you can still read it Cheers

My list would be more or less the same with a couple changes. Also with Selanne in 9th and Kariya in 10.
-
Yeah those have been my exact same thoughts ever since the Hawks got Campbell and huet not to mention how they got Bowman with them to rub it in. I am not saying that they will definitely be making the playoffs but I think they have a good chance. They did get pretty close last year as they tied Edmonton with 88 points for 9th (Nashville was the 8th seed with 91) We should be seeing a better Blackhawks team that we haven't seen in a good while.
-
Hey but how rare is it for one of those monkeys to put down something like that? That was the first time I actually got a fortune about any sports team. I'm sure if you got a fortune saying "Mathieu Schneider will remain a Duck" you'd be just as happy

What he said

I think it's still too early to determine who we should keep at this moment, until we actually get to see Hossa playing as a winged wheel. We still don't know how well he will do on the team. I really do think that Franzen will keep playing the way he has been. I always saw some kind of hidden potential in him that was just waiting to explode. I say we should do our best to keep Hossa AND Mule... of course Zata as well

That's what makes hockey interesting as well. All we can do for now is just wait, sit back and enjoy the ride. We might not be able to pull of an era domination like the oilers or habs did a while back but it's not impossible. We might not be able to find Datsyuks and Zetterbergs every year but who knows. We have some good prospects with a bright future ahead of them and several players going into their primes. Of course we have some that are slipping away from their primes and some that have been slipping away for ages *cough*Cheli*cough* A few years ago, ppl wondered what would become of the Wings once Stevie, Feds, Shanny and the rest were gone. 5 years ago, would we have ever guessed that Datsyuk and Z were going become the players that they are today? A few might have, but for the most part no. Ppl now wonder what will become of the Wings once Lidstrom a.k.a our pillar of support, retires. I'm sure a lot of us s*** bricks at the thought of that but I'm more interested in finding out who will carry on the torch after he's gone. How many first round picks did we have in the lineup that won us the Stanley Cup? This is why I'm starting to think that the draft number or earlier picks are starting to be somewhat overrated and this is why I also think that Stamkos will not do as great as expected (Although he will have an impact on his team). You don't need a team full of early picks to win. The capsystem is indeed s***ty but I think the Wings actually know how it works better than any other team in the league. That's another thing we take for granted as Red Wings fans. Just imagine the horrors of being a Leafs or Isles fan right now.. or what about the BJ's and their Filatov situation? The fact of the matter is, we are the Red Wings and you can't spell Wings without WIN, prepare to see many more victories God I can't wait for the season to start. Until then, all I have is stuff like this to keep me entertained http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qi...03173229AAUR9zt

I'm going to have to go with Russia over Canada then the Swedes for bronze. Canada and Russia both have great players in their line-ups but since I have to consider the chemistry my vote goes to Russia.

Ryan Miller Joe Sakic or Mike Modano?
