... and I actually thought the habs were going to snag him. Maybe The Vancouver Luongos won't be as boring to wat.... Nah.
-
There are many good things I see in Huds but the one thing that I like best is how he always surprises me with his goals. I usually never see them coming. Of course they doesn't surprise me as much as the few occasions Sammy have scored, but yeah "few occasions" being the keywords here. He is still improving and I'd like to seem him as a winged wheel for a few more years to come, just to see what more he has to offer.

Sawchuck Mike Richter or John Vanbiesbrouck (at their primes)

You know, I think the habs did rather well last year. An addition of Sundin will definitely give the team more depth, etc. I think they'll do even better next year, especially if Price can keep his game up. ... Buuut they're still no match for us and our newly signed Hossa
-
Zata for sure. I can see him being more of a leader type than Dats. He seems more vocal and likely be able to push the team more. I think if Dats were to be the captain then we might have the same problem the Sens had in their early playoff exit with Alfredsson.

Makes me lol everytime

I've been thinking about that since we signed him. I think it could work out, we've seen that Franzen can do more than just being Homer's backup when it's needed. Homer plays his role better than anyone in the NHL but Franzen is learning. I think that if Franzen could play more on the same line as him he could learn a thing or two. Of course you got to give him credit for being part of the best line in the NHL. Sure, some ppl say "If it ain't broke then don't fix it" but as we all know Hossa is capable of scoring more points than Homer. If they could find some chemistry together, I think this line could potentially be one of the deadliest lines we've seen in a while. We have all season to mess around with the lineup to see what goes best and what not but if there's no chemistry for the new ZDH then I'd say put Hossa in the 2nd line at all costs. We've seen what happened when Colorado tried bringing the magic out of Selanne and Kariya a couple years back and we all know how that worked out. Hossa will be surrounded with better talent and experience than those two were and I think his style of hockey fits the Red Wings style very well so there will be some chemistry in any line he plays in. He's one of those versatile players that are just overall good to have around.

In the Stanley cup finals, the Pens were outscored 17-10. That being said, I didn't see the Penguins making any sweet signings or anything that significant so if anything they lost some grit, offense and defense. Let's not forget about the likes of Laraque as well, he may not be a solid player but he did stand up during the playoffs. The Pens ARE still amongst the top of the Eastern conference teams but knowing that we're getting better and they're not, I can see the distance between the two teams growing. Sure, anything happens in the playoffs but if we are to crash into each other in the finals again... Well let me just tell you that it isn't going to be any easier for you guys than it was the last time You can say that luck is a big thing and anybody can get lucky to win a cup. Whenever you guys got "lucky" you won a game by a goal. When we were "lucky" we won 4-0, 3-0. Prepare to see a faster and stronger Red Wings team, with several star players jumping into the primes of their career. We're going to be friggin' awesome this year and there's no denying that. G'day!

I really don't think I've been this happy with a signing since we got Hasek a while back. Great move Holland! I thought we'd land maaaybe Naslund or Sundin.. but who would've thought that we'd land Marian friggin Hossa? Reading about all the Pens fans crying over the loss is just another plus. I'm glad I'm a Red Wings fan

ah there's already another thread, just close this one

I just heard about that right now on the Entry Draft. What are your thoughts on this? Discuss

Well this was all good, I won't complain too much about the awards except I really think Babs should've won. Sure, Boudreau helped the Caps get in the playoffs from dead last a bit more than halfway in the season but Babs took to The wings to the top from start to end of the whole ride. All in all, it was a good ceremony

YES LIDS!!! 6 time Norris winner!!
-
Honestly the Sabs should be the only one to retire his number. If Hasek was Borque then even Ottawa would retire his number

Hockey players aren't Gods that occasionally appear from the skies above. They are human just like the rest of us. I don't see what is there not to believe about the story. I guess it's up to you whether you want to believe it or not but it just shows how negative of a person you are I don't see why anyone would lie about something like that, if they do then it's a big waste of time because they'd only be fooling themselves in the end. I have no high rank or anything in this forum to be saying this, but I say we should have less pessimism and more optimism going on around here. We did just bring the cup home after all ;D Cheers to all

Dom Dom Dom... my memories for him goes all the way back to when I first saw him play for the sabres when I was little. At first sight I didn't think that he was that great, with his plain face mask and odd style but as I watched him play and shut out the opposing team, I sat there in awe. From that day on he was my childhood hero. I remember how I almost fainted when the wings got him from Buffalo. He may not have been at his prime during the time spent as a winged wheel but he always had my full support during his ups and downs. He was always class act and played with all his heart. Thank You for everything. I will miss you, We will miss you, Hockey will miss you. Some may disagree with me but I know that you could've taken out Pat had you not slipped.

Count me in, the last time I was able to make it to a red wings parade was back in 97. This will make up for it by a bit It's been a pleasure watching the game with all of you guys.
