This is obviously going to be the biggest game of the season that will allow the Wings to clinch, along with the Pens v Sens. Alright, haven't posted a GDT prediction in a while, but this is going to be a huge 5 games to finish the season, so here's one for making the playoffs! Maybe if our boys can pull through, it'd have them up and ready come playoff time. Here's to a great game, and solid win for our boys in red. Four words: assault with a weapon. Yes, it makes a difference in the hockey world, too. It's not the result, but the intent that should matter. IIRC, Dino Ciccarelli got jailed and fined a while back for what appeared to be less than what McCarty did, and it was also a heat of the moment thing, rather than a cheap shot like Deveaux's. There's been many similar cases in the past. The difference always being, they used a "weapon". The mindset of "oh, the victim didn't get injured, so the offender shouldn't be punished as badly" is what's wrong with the NHL's disciplinary system today. Again, the McCarty fight was during a different era, when hits and fighting didn't get punished nearly as much as they do today. If you thought that D-Mac was bad and should be imprisoned for what he did to Lemieux, then our boys Probie and Kocur should have served multiple lifetimes

During warm-ups before a Swedish playoff hockey game between Rogle BK and VIK Vasteras HK on Thursday, Rogle's Andre Deveaux viciously attacked VIK's Per Helmersson. After skating from the boards to the middle of the ice, Deveaux wound up and delivered a hard slash to Helmersson's leg before going for his head. Shockingly, it does not appear, via the box score, as though Deveaux was penalized for his actions. In fact, he recorded an assist in the game and was allowed to play Sunday, too. Good God, I'm surprised nobody seemed to have caught this, or cared enough to eject the guy after it happened. via Bleacher Report Edit: Oops, looks like the title was a bit too long. Not the best start we've had, but it'll be interesting to see how the Wings do against Florida with Luongo. I remember how we've always been good against top teams but played badly against the lower ones for a while, but something seems different about that this year. I think he meant it more in a tongue-in-cheek way. At least I didn't see it as negatively until you pointed it out to be that way Anyways, that was some real class by the Leafs fans! The whole jersey-throwing on the ice thing makes them look like big babies, but at least they're big babies with big hearts!

After a couple bad games, I feel that we're due for a pretty good one.
