hv 71 won 5-0, adam played on the second d-pair, had no points and was +1. stat-wise pretty ok for his debut. don´t know how he looked out there though. maybe some of our "swedish lgw-guys" can help out and give a scouting report?

quick sunday game update: as usual...another win...7-0 with 4 assists for adam all on the powerplay. AA´s season count: 15gp - 5g - 29a - 34pts

adam finished the tournament with 2 goals in 4 games. it was a different experience for him cause opposite to his club hv71 winning all the time, team sweden lost all games and finished in last place. back to normal work...things didn´t change....another win 4-1 and another point for adam. AA´s season count: 14gp - 5g - 25a - 30pts

now i found out whats going on.... he is playing with team sweden (j18 and not j20) at the 2009 WORLD JUNIOR A CHALLENGE in Summerside P.E.I. 1st-8th NOV. the first game will be today against russia. http://www.hockeycanada.ca/index.php/ci_id/25071/la_id/1.htm

i checked it out. he is not on the roster of swedens team for the tournament. some of his teammates are and they played today. so it seems he is injured or sick. other ideas or facts.....anybody ....?

exactly! and besides this, the hv 71 sel team is also in first place so i guess they see no need to change anything. on wednesday he had another assist in another win. today he wasn´t in the lineup. i don´t know why. maybe he is injured or he may be already with the j20 national team, which participates in a 4 nation tournament in st.petersburg next week. anyway leagueplay makes a break until 14th november. AA´s season count: 13gp - 5g - 24a - 29pts

5-2 sunday afternoon win. adam with 2 assists again. AA´s season count: 12gp - 5g - 23a - 28pts he is now back on top again in the scoring department and no longer tied with his teammate linnander, who failed to register a point today.

6-3 win today and again 1 assist for AA. AA´s season count: 11gp - 5g - 21a - 26pts

i guess with 255 points in 218 games and considering the mono-thing you can call him a major point producer in the ohl. and 35 points in 69 games in a limited role in his first pro season are also pretty respectable. lets see what he can do when he plays a bigger role. until now i would say he lived up to the expectations.

a negative and positive start to the new college season: negative: after 3 games Maine is 0-3 positive: gustav is 3-2 for 5 points and leading the team in scoring.

another win for hv 71....but only after a penalty shootout. it seems things didn´t go perfect this time. additionally adam was held pointless for the first time this season. AA´s season count: 9gp - 5g - 19a - 24pts

quick update.....6-3 win, hv 71 is now 10-0-0 for the season, adam with 2 helpers again AA´s season count: 8gp - 5g - 19a - 24pts oh and btw not exactly surprisingly he also leads the league in +/- with +12

your not effective anymore, at least not at even strength. pasha and the mule wern´t exactly great in the 2 games in stockholm, but they showed some glimpses and i wonder how good they could be if they had an effective third man on their line. this is not meant as another homer bashing thread, it is just a thread about (thinking about) maximizing the outcome (pointwise) of their (pasha,mule) skills. as i saw them play, i thought if they only had helm on their line, they would just be lethal, a hard working guy with incredible speed, good checking and soft hands. imo he would be the perfect fit. the hard working guy who wins the battles and gets the pucks to the magicians and occasionally chips one in by himself after perfect feeds from pasha. i would prefer this about reuniting pasha and z, cause i think we have tho spread them to be succesful. i know that it is unlikely that babs will do this, but i hope he will try it at least, then like what he sees and sticks to it.....one can have dreams thoughts?

although clearly outshot by 2nd placed frölunda, hv 71 managed to win another game and stay unbeaten. the final result is 5-3. adam had 2 assists today. because one of the helpers was shorthanded there is now evidence that he also plays on the penalty kill. AA´s season count: 7gp - 5g - 17a - 22pts to all swedes on this board: has anyone of you the possibility to watch him in person and give us "foreigners" a first hand "scouting report" of his skills and tell us if he is really that outstanding or if the opponents are so weak in this league?

everything said about homers qualities is absolutely correct, but regarding his play in the first two games, it is all said in the wrong tense.....it must say "....was...." and no longer "...is...." maybe he can turn around and he had just 2 bad games, than i´have no problem with him on the first line, but it sure did not look like it´s going to happen. time will tell.

i don´t know what this guy is eating or if they play him the entire 60 minutes, he just keeps scoring.... 3-1 win today and he had again 3 assists AA´s season count: 6gp - 5g - 15a - 20pts btw before the last game his team had a powerplay-pct of 45,71%. i wonder if he has anything to do with it

OK, to clear things up, when i said Helm has soft hands i didn´t mean he has datsyuk like soft hands, i meant for an energy guy or compared to Homer. i realize that helm is not a starplayer or topscorer, but that is the point in the thoughts i had. when you already have Datsyuk and Franzen on a line, why do you need another superstar? sure if you put Z on the line, this would be the best line in the league, but it would make our second and third line weaker. the goal should be balanced scoring. in case of an emergency you can always go back to Z+Pasha+ whoever. i wouldn´t expect helm to put up 80 points or something, maybe 20-30. i would like to see him on this line to dig the puck free, be in the right places at the right time and get the puck to the starplayers. i have no problem with Homer on that line as long as he can do this things....but that is exactly what i mean, in the first two games he looked like he just isn´t able to do this anymore. at times it seemed like Pasha and Mule would play as a 2-man unit. there were a lot of pucks played along the board in the offensive zone where Homer was supposed to be, but he was always too late. of course would it be better to fill this role on the first line with Cleary, but he already does it on the second line and i really doubt Draper would do better than Helm, cause in principle they are the same player just 17 years apart. your idea that homer stands in front of the net and Datsyuk, Franzen and the D-men do the cycling may work on powerplays (i have no problem with homer on the pp) but not at even strenght. you need all 3 forwards to do the cycling effective. just watch the two games in stockholm. and btw skillwise (puckhandling, shooting, skating) i don´t think Homer got an edge on Helm.

i understand that everyone can have his own opinion, but how is it laughable to think helm would fit in well with the first line?! come on guys, this is no online hockeymanager game where you put the 3 players with highest skill points on the first line and they win every game for you. this is reality. we don´t need THE first line with all our star players on it. we need 3 good scoring lines and depending on the night one of them will be the first line, some nights pavels line, some nights hanks line, some nights filppullas line....that is the way to be succesful in todays nhl. you can´t have only chiefs you need some workers too. and btw i don´t say we lost the 2 games because of homer, i just say that line could be more effective. we lost the 2 games because of lebda (in big parts). in real life he looks even worse than on tv. please lilja come back...and until than...put in meech it can only get better. but that topic is already discussed elsewhere, sorry.

i´m not saying that helm is a first liner talent-wise, i know there are a lot of wings ahead of him for sure. but why use all stars on one line? its much easier for the opponents to defend. i like homer, but he is just a step to slow. keep him on the powerplay as already mentioned and play him on the 4th line 5 on 5. imo in the worst case helm would at least be as effective as homer. helm-datsyuk-franzen bertuzzi-zetterberg-cleary (didn´t work to well in stockholm, but give them some games, it could work) leino-filppulla-williams (looked pretty good together, luck just wasn´t on their side) maltby/eaves-draper-homer ps: finnish wing have you been in stockholm last weekend?

....just as JIM MORRISON said, he is the pointsleader now in the J20 league over the forwards who even have more games than him.... a quick wrapup of the weekend for Adam: a 4-2 win with 3 assists and a 6-1 win with 2 goasl and 2 assists that leads to the season count as above stated by JM. he is really tearing apart the juniors. i´m not sure what would be the best for his development. keep him there and let him set new records and gaining tons of confidence or bringing him up to play with real men but only a few minutes per game???? i guess the responsible persons on the wings will know what to do.

he is on the first pair and gets a ton of ice-time and plays on the power-play. not sure about penalty kill.

anyway.......at least he keeps proving his hockey sense with points....next chapter: a 7-4 win today and he had 1 goal and 1 assist AA´s season count: 3gp - 3g - 7a - 10pts so the offensive game is definately there, we will see if he can match it with defensive and physical play in the future.
