    Adam Almquist

second game for adam today and the count is rising: 3-0 win for his team, he had 2 helpers. so he keeps scoring even in a low scoring game. AA´s season count: 2gp - 2g - 6a - 8pts

    Brent Raedeke

he is captain of his team this season and started with 4 points (3g - 1a) in 3 games. that helped the oil kings to begin the season with a 1-1-1 record.

    Mitchell Callahan

no points for him since the hot start, but he had a fight at the end of last nights game, btw a loss again. i don´t know if he won the fight. maybe someone can find out an update here.

    Who signs 1st?

more and more people here suggest to trade kronwall. to this i can only say: NO WAY the wings will part ways with "little nik"!!! the wings (managment, coach) see him as their 2nd best d-man after "big nick", and that is absolutely true.....ok, maybe not all the time this season, cause sometimes he wasn´t at the top of his game ..... but the sum of his skills as a d-man are only 2nd to lidstrom on this team, and when lids will retire, kronwall will become the no.1. he is only 28 now and is only getting better with time. and it is easier to find new players who will score goals for you than a d-man with his skills. maybe no second hossa, but remember we won a cup last year without him (i have to add that nonetheless i would like to keep hossa if possible). and keep in mind the old saying that is still true: offense wins games, defense wins championships. btw i believe leino could fill in better for hossa or franzen than kindl would for kronwall.
  5. maybe they should give hank a short term deal (1 or 2 years) at the same money that pasha makes. and after that when nicks contract has expired and there is maybe some more money left to spend (maybe the cap is going up or nick retires or plays for a little less if he re-sings), then they should try to figure something out to keep him til he retires.

    Sammy not practicing

the first 2 lines and the d-pairings are actually the same as in the avs game. so no surprise here. they worked pretty well in my opinion (if you forget the notorious bad first 20 minutes of that game, but the rest of the way....)

    This Season

on larssons play...... after watching the wings goalies and his development, i wouldn´t be surprised if he would compete for the starting job in the big league next fall instead of howard. he is what the wings lack, a goalie who can steal games and beside of this he is a swede ..... biggest surprise so far.....hmmmm.....i would say emmerton....i knew that he is a good player and i like him, but after his last season in the juniors (with his illness and beeing traded), i thought it would take him longer to start beeing effective as a pro. pleasant surprise. btw,as it appears you are closer into the griffs than me, can you enlighten me whats going on with ericsson? i noticed the he was out of the lineup for 2 games in the past few weeks. but no word about it in the media. was he injured or was he a healthy scratch?

    downey

no, you are not the only one! as much as i agree with most people here, that maltby and mccarty bring not very much to the team.... it wouldn´t get any better with downey. a good fighter/enforcer might bring some energy, but his skating and his hockey skills are far far far away from nhl standards, even for a fourth line. so bringing him up would do nothing to change the situation. guys like helm or abdelkader, with their forechecking pressure in the offensive zone, would help a lot more. but i think its not going to happen, cause of the cap issues.

    9/28 xGDT: Red Wings 4, Thrashers 0

they show the distance from the point where the player shot the puck to the goal, not by how far the shot missed the net.....otherwise..."...missed shot by ericsson 64', over net...."

What Do I Need To Stream Games?

if you want to make sure you stay 100% on the right side of the law, i recommend ESPN360. it works fine and you have only to pay 90 EURO for the whole season including the playoffs, seems a fair price to me to see the wings (and all other teams, if you want). but i´m not sure whether it is available in the US also or if it is only offered over here in europe. PS: damn i have to change my username....

    Orpik Rejects Pens Offer

maybe he is an ok d-man, but i personally dislike him, to me he seems to be a little bit dumb and i think he wouldn´t fit with the wings who mostly seem to be pretty smart players. so i say no to orpik.

    Stuart has possible shoulder injury

maybe there is a completely different perspective on the shoulder injury, how about this: lets say he has something on his shoulder that is fixable but requires surgery. they will do it and he will be out.....lets say until christmas/new year. at first this sounds really bad, but..... he can recover from the surgery at home in california and stay with his family. in january he makes his comeback and gets himself into perfect shape until early april. the he plays his best for lets say a little more than 2 month and in june he can go back to the family with some silver hardware. this way he will only be away from home for half of the year, the 3 mio for half a season are more than enough and in the meantime our young guns can gain some nhl experience. i would say it is a fair compromise everyone could live with.

    2008 NHL Entry Draft GDT

that are his stats of one part of the season, the other part he had: 26 gp, 12 goals, 34 assists, 75sog, 53% fowpct, +20 together: 40 gp, 20 goals, 42 assists, 122 sog, +29

    2008 NHL Entry Draft GDT

i got the stats from my usual source (official site of the swedish hochey association) for swedish hockey results and stats. and it says what i stated above. maybe that are the stats from a playoff round later on or something....i don´t get the swedish hockey system in the lower leagues. where did you got your stats from?

    2008 NHL Entry Draft GDT

samuelssons stats from last season: 14 gp, 8 goals, 8 assists, 47sog, 50% fowpct (as a winger), +9 , not to shabby was enough to convince the timra management to get him to play in the elite league next season for them.

    2008 NHL Entry Draft GDT

quote from nhl scouting: "He is definitely one of those franchise type of goalies in the future" if it is true.....

Holland to offer DMac a contract

not a bad move at all. lets see what he is able to do after completing training camp anf if he sucks you can still send him to GR (although you have to expose him to waivers i believe, but i doubt somebody would claim him) to teach some lessons to the young guns there. regarding downey....it is nice how he stands up for his teammates, but talentwise.....uh boy....not that he has to be a perfect skater to play his role but his skating is so weak, sometimes i was afraid he might hurt himself out there. nevertheless wouldn´t mind to see him back in the same role like this season. PS: guess i have to change my username.

    on the same page?

is it just me, or is the press trying to write the wings-avs series more even than it really is after the impressions of game one? in my opinion the wings were the much better team last night. the only reasons the game was this close at the end, were (1) ozzy letting one maybe two in he would stop in 8 out of ten nights and (2) letting up on the wings side after they got the 4-1 lead. otherwise it wasn´t nearly as close as writers are trying to make us believe. i would say it is more the way the commentator on tsn said after the 4-1 by franzen.....the avs can´t keep up with the wings speed and skill. even if you put forsberg back into the lineup....you put stuart back in instead of lilja.....and it is still pretty much the same. i think if the wings keep playing poised for at least 50 mins a game, the avs won´t have a real chance to win the series. your thoughts? am i completly wrong on that? btw everybody wanted a big power forward who is banging and scoring....i guess franzen heard the call.....at the moment he is as good as it gets.

    on the same page?

you are right. chelios had a real bad day. lebda played like always, not good but i thought he didn´t make to much mistakes also. i assumed lilja would sit, because he is prone to those stupid penalties (as shown last night).....and you don´t want to have the avs on the powerplay to much....that could be the moments that negate the wings domination the rest of the game in a few minutes and suddenly they are back in it. btw i also would prefer the wings to play the full 60 minutes poised, i know that a lot can happen in 10 mins, hell even in a few seconds...lets say 9 , i just wanted to express how dominant the wings were in my opinion.
