    Where is Hossa?

It's nice that we have a consolidated thread where people who don't have enough to worry about in their lives can post. Seriously, this may be one of the most unbelievably shortsighted posts I have ever seen here. We are five games into a playoff run. We've lost zero games. Hossa was a MAN in game four on the road against Columbus. Oh, btw, he was also top five in scoring in the playoffs last year. I swear if some people couldn't complain, they'd never say anything. Can we talk about something legitimate instead?

    Historical Question....

NY Islanders went 15-3 in 1980-81 Edmonton went 15-3 in 1984-85 Edmonton went 16-2 in 1987-88 Those are the best records since the league went to four rounds of playoffs.

    Fight in the stands

I posted this in the GDT but it seems appropriate here as well: You have to understand that you are dealing with the same people who check the license plates of cars during a Michigan / Ohio State game, the proceed to be complete animals to anyone driving a car from Michigan. "Fans" in Columbus are a special strain of retarded. They take things entirely too far regarding sporting events. Some of them tend to take things a bit too seriously and then want to turn every indiscretion into a physical battle. Hopefully the Wings can finish the job on Thursday and get the hell out of town. People rag on Detroit for being a decaying city, but at least the fans are generally respectful of visiting teams' fans. Columbus is filled with mouth-breathing goons who start fights and couch fires.

WCQF GAME 2 GDT: Red Wings 4, Blue Jackets 0

I'll readily admit that I am 11 beers in (Labatt Blue) but the Wings absolutely crushed it tonight. This is exactly what Hitchock was talking about earlier in the year. It seems that the Wings worst enemy is themselves. If they play to their potential, it could be a long playoff run. LET'S GO RED WINGS!

So, what do we say about Kronwall now?

You're wrong. His name is not, and never has been, spelled with a "V" or had a "V" sound in it.

So, what do we say about Kronwall now?

Too bad his name is Kronwall and is pronounced as such.

A bet I made with my friend...

I'd lay 10:1 on $100 that the Wings win 67 or less games.

a little fun - WHAT NUMBER?

As a Detroit Red Wing, Hossa should wear number 17. Here's why: '97 - Doug Brown wears 17. Red Wings win Stanley Cup '98 - Doug Brown wears 17. Red Wings win Stanley Cup '02 - Brett Hull wears 17. Red Wings win Stanley Cup '08 - Dallas Drake wears 17. Red Wings win Stanley Cup If you ask me, he shouldn't even be given a choice.

a little fun - WHAT NUMBER?

All I know is that as soon as he decides I will be ordering one. I had a Hossa jersey for the Thrashers games (I live in Atlanta now and have season tickets). He was my favorite player in Atlanta and I will be ready to grab a RBK Premier. I just got my Lidstrom RBK Edge with the SCF patch. Let me just say.. It is very nice.

    Team Chemistry

I thought I read somewhere that Holland stated he wanted a Hossa / Sundin type on the roster to keep everyone motivated towards the ultimate goal.

    Shanahan

I thought one of the reasons for Shanny's departure was due to his not seeing eye to eye with Babcock and his coaching style / philosophy.

    Marian Hossa a Red Wing, 1yr, $7.45m

I will quote a previous poster.. OH. MY. GOD. WOW. Wow.. WOW!!

    1998 WCF question

Maybe Belfour offered him $100 billion to let the Stars go to the Stanley Cup Finals instead.

    Top moments in NHL history?

That wasn't a shootout goal. It was in the last minute of a game in Dallas where the Wings were winning 5-2. Hull passed it to Datsyuk.

Hall of Fame Inductees named tomorrow

Go back and read it again. It is correct. Remember, it was an eight game series.

    Malone leaving Pittsburgh

Hossa has already publicly stated that he will take less money to play for a winner.

    The most prestigious individual award?

The Conn Smythe obviously is the most prestigious award, as it is the only individual award that is given away based on playoff performance. As for the regular season, I think the Pearson means more to the players. To have the people that you play with say that you are the best means the most.

    LINDSTROM?!?!?

Considering the circumstances, I have to agree. This is the SIXTH time he has won it. Oh, by the way.. he's the captain of the team that just won the Stanley Cup about a week ago. It's pretty much inexcusable.

2008 NHL Awards Ceremony Thread (GDT)

Hank was the most valuable player in the playoffs. Being 3rd in the Selke voting isn't going to affect how much money he gets.

    LINDSTROM?!?!?

I think I read that he was 4th in the voting.

2008 NHL Awards Ceremony Thread (GDT)

Voting for the Selke: Datsyuk had 43 first-place votes and 537 points, beating out New Jersey's John Madden (447 points), the 2001 Selke winner, and linemate Henrik Zetterberg (425 points). I am almost 100% sure that if the voting was after the playoffs that Zetterberg would have gotten every first place vote.
