I think the level that hockey is at right now is the best its ever been. Thanks for being a fan Me: Mr. Bettman what ideas do you have for getting more fans interested in hockey after the lockout Bettman: Less sweeps, more long series' and of course games on versus Me: Soooo how about those crappy calls in Game 5 Bettman: While Detroit is obviously the better team, both teams must remember what is better for hockey. Both teams sweeping to the Stanley Cup would be too much. I mean people expect it in the East because the East is weaker, but it just can't happen in the West. Me: Soo you are saying if the Wings get to the Stanley Cup they won't sweep Pitt/Philly Bettman: No sweeps are just not good for hockey. I will make sure that game 4 is officiated to what is most beneficial for the league.

As I was reviewing the comments from last nights game something occured to me. Hockey is not nearly as strict on coaches being critical as the other major sports. It seems like anyone in the NBA,NFL, or MLB who slightly suggests the ref may have blown a call in a post game press conference is either suspended or fined. A lot of this times this is true even if the coach has a valid point. The NHL lets a pretty good bit of that slide off compared to other leagues especially if its true.

Melrose is a tool. He always looks for the feel good story or the obvious bandwagon. Let's come out and play offensive in game 5 instead of defensive.

hopefully Zett or Dats rips a slapshot that really does cut Turco in half on Saturday.

I just remember an interview with Al with him talking about how much pride he takes in his ice, and how he is always asking the players how the ice feels. He said the worst thing for him, is for a player to leave Detroit talking about how bad the ice was and not how bad the Wings beat them.

He said he still likes Detroit to win the series, but i'm guessing he thinks because of the momentum Dallas is going to make Detroit beat them in Dallas for the trip to the SC. I dunno. Melrose is such a bandwagoner its not funny.

I haven't been surprised at all. The first game kinda caught me off guard. It seem like Dallas was like the little boy that complains to mom and gets what he wants. Everything in game 3 they complained about the refs gave them. Tonight seemed to be a little more of the same. It's all good. I still don't see Dallas coming back, because with 2 of the 3 games left at the Joe, the Turco voodoo is gonna come back sometime. I was actually surprised to see Modano get that call at the end. I thought for sure they would just wave it off <------------------Insert Laugh Here

I think if the Wings and Pens play, the Pens have to keep the Wings in penalty trouble. I think straight 5 on 5 the Wings win hands down. Their penalty kill is awesome but as Wings fans know sometimes we forget who's got the powerplay and act like we aren't playing a man down (See Zetterberg).

This could really help out if we move on to the stanley cup finals

I don't know about the humble pie thing. I mean Detroit was in a similar situation to Dallas last year. We came in played the tougher teams and were worn down. I do think Detroit will win the series, and I believe they will probably take at least 6 to win the cup if they are going to win it, but the humble pie thing is a little ridiculous. Detroit is playing the best they have played in a long time, I think they have a right to be a little cocky.

one goal. one goal is my prediction for all it will take. I think you go in score the first goal of the game and suck the wind right out of the sails. then half the bandwagon fans leave. then you are left with the true stars fans. They root for them to comeback, then maybe they tie it, then Zett and Dats go on ice score at will and steal their thunder again.

That my friends is what we call epic fail.

I think if Miller is serious about wanting out of Buffalo, we have to give him a look. He hasn't been bad in the few games I've caught on tv.

I agree with a lot of what you said. I think there are lots of untangibles too taht can't really compare. I think the Wings by far have the best transition ability of any team in the playoffs. Their ability to catch fast breaks and quick turnovers will make you pay. I think the Pens do a great job at closing the deal. What I mean by that, there are a few times these playoffs the Wings have left themselves open only to have the opposing team drop the ball and not capitalize. I think this will make for a good series and am excited to see how Crosby reacts when taking a real hit.

As I read all the recaps, I can't help but shrug at how easily people are blowing off the Red Wings. With Dallas down 3-0 and the possibility of a sweep around the corner, it seems like every article talks about how tough their road was to the conference finals and how they ran out of gas. I don't remember anything like that last year when the Wings had a similar road. I just remember articles about how it was another playoff disappointment from the Wings. I hope that Detroit destroys and sweeps whoever is in the Stanley Cup finals. Maybe then everyone will say "hey these guys are as good as advertised. They would win no matter who they played."

And thats how the Cup changes everything. lol

Anyone besides me think Dallas was getting just about every call their coach shouted from the bench at the refs. I mean we won which is all that matters, but it just seems to me like they go away with murder and we got called for hitting them too hard.

The never winning ten games in a row thing bothers me as well as winning a long streak of games then dropping a few. Time to stop that.
